I think people forget when they make a trailer from an old pick up bed, that the rear end in there still needs to be serviced, at least every few decades depending on how much use it gets. A friend had an old trailer like this and was hauling a load of donated food for the church food pantry 20 miles back to the church when on an uphill grade with a 2 foot shoulder he lost the entire passenger side axel wheel and all, right over the cliff. I went down, we loaded to food into my truck, hooked a chain on the trailer and dragged it a few hundred feet to wide spot and left it. I'm pretty sure he took the plates and never went back LOL It's always a fun time at Dad's jungle hide-away, what will emerge from the undergrowth next?????
I love watching you and seeing how resourceful you are! I have a 1973 Dodge Sportsman class C camper van that I would happily sell to you for $5.00. But you have to come to southeast Iowa with a way to haul it home. I would love to watch you get it all working again💖
Huge fan of this channel, your gentle optimism is so lovely, starting my first project car soon and I'll take your mantra with me to the garage evert day :D love from the UK!!
2:37 A high-school tech assistant used to be a major fan of vernier calipers, to the point of convincing me to pick those up to replace my plastic digital one. A choice I do not regret making, though since I lost my good one, the one of the same brand I replaced it with having a bind spot halfway down the range. The accuracy is about on-par with the electronic ones, but they always work and not having the hassle of the constantly draining weird button cell battery is nice.
Yeah, I've been wondering how he makes a living to have time to do all this and have a family. 115k subscribers does not seem like enough to live off YT. I work full time and barely have enough time to do an oil change these days.
Excellent video James :) yes find nice finds especially old Ford box got fixing up also would put metal big sheet floor and weld up in place! Also wonderfull finders keepers and did superb!!
I live where we use winter tires, so I always buy a set of rims to go with my tires to avoid paying that mounting fee. I also rarely buy used tires unless they're already on rims that fit for the same reason. It also lets me downsize the rim and upsize the tire, since it's only the outer diameter that has to match stock (as long as it clears the brakes).
That trailer with the crane is awesome. I'm working on one right now from a scrap trailer and an old crane. If you cant find bearings just swap out the axel with one you can get bearings for.
Excellent another 'enchanted scrap forest' video... Of course, after only 21 mins, I now need to go back in time and watch a few earlier forest adventures to get my fill for the night.
I like how you work with what you got. its like how it was when we where growing up as kids we had to make parts scavenge parts to fix are bikes gokarts and mini bikes . Now people don't fix things they buy new
I subscribe to you and superfast Matt. On the surface very different, but essentially the same. Dry humour, technical experts, lots of projects, not all finished
Pickup truck trailers are rare. In the rustbelt its usually the first thing to go out on a truck, not the last thing to survive :) Like the professional paint jobs on this channel :)
You are my cool uncle I have never had in my life. In Poland we don't have so much "rusty old cool machines and vintage rusty cars" culture. Anything "rat-style" is less common than Lamborghini.
I've had a similar thing happen to me buying an oil filter from Walmart. Bought the filter then realized that someone opened the filter box and swapped a different sized filter. Now I open the boxes and check the filter
Great video, as usual! However, would probably had tried to remove that pinion gear all together from that axle, reducing rolling resistance in the process. 🙂
If you needed a reserve battery bank for camping, that pickup bed trailer would be the ticket to carry it. And that unused universal joint connection on that differential would be a nice drive point for an alternator or generator to charge that battery bank while driving.
I am from india. Do use the dremell tool with diamond tips for removing corroded bolts, and bad tings on outboards. They will be grinding away. Impeller is fine, if it's many arms are touching the sides, and thermostat must be left in vinegar and spices overnight, to clean it. Do be checking the gearbox for milkshake oil! I am from India.
I don't dispose of tires. They're good land management tools. Fill them up with concrete and X pattern them, then drill and clip a stainless steel mesh over it and it's perfect for throwing turf over and then putting trees to grow between the holes. In particular, sterile paulownia trees. They grow fast, with powerful roots. The local land management in my brother's area didn't have the money to do the work, back in the early 90's, that would've been several million dollars. We fixed it with this method and cleared the local area of discarded tires dating back to just after WW2. Today's probably one of the least flood affected areas in the zone, plus - the paulownia trees smell good.
I just did this with an old trailer so you're a little late! Mine was easier because it mainly involved just the paint part! I do now have two "working" trailers so not that far behind!😂
You do stuff like me. Don’t know if that’s a compliment or not.
I would be worried.LOL😃😀😎🇺🇸
Hahahahah same.
I say: This time it's not.
Best regards, luck and health in particular.
I think if half of us are not scatterbrained we have every right to be!
Need inventory of your stuff. You can never have eniff stuff......see GEORGE. CARLIN ROUTINE😄😄😄
Who knew that forests are the natural habitat for trailers
Only pick your trailers when they are fully ripe.
@@matthewb8229 I'd say these might have ripened for a bit too long.
...and those trailers nest so close to the logging trails.
I can't believe I caught a video fresh off the presses. I absolutely love this channel
Going tooo upscale with fresh grease and bearing's
Great content, off the cuff dry humour, brilliant.
We sure love your longer videos!... anybody else agree?
Always a great day when a low buck garage video drops

The way you handled that trailer tail light assembly was pure genius!!

I really enjoy you letting me hang out during your projects, thanks!
Watched probably all your videos this weekend , I hid in my shop with the ac , catching up on inside projects
Heck, you can start your own trailer rental business there now! Lol 🤣
You just impress us to no end. I spend the whole video with my jaw dropped! Thanks for entertaining us!
Always an adventure. Thank Low Buck
You're guaranteed to learn something whenever watching one of these video's,😉👍, awesome video, and thanks for sharing.
Fearless in your approach to any problem, I love it!
Looking forward to the next installment of the trailer saga! You're the man, James! 😊
Huge fan of this channel, your gentle optimism is so lovely, starting my first project car soon and I'll take your mantra with me to the garage evert day :D love from the UK!!
I am a huge Low-Buck Garage fan. I learn so much from watching you. Keep these great videos coming please! Thank you from Upstate New York.
Outstanding and awesome content as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
Trails in the woods are super common where I live but I never found a single hidden trailer there 😉
I'm glad this was a full video and not just a trailer..
I like what you did there.
You are so lucky to have all of this cool stuff on your families land. All I want is a forest full of old cars and machines to work on for fun.
love the built-in drainage holes in the trailer bed
The pickup box is mid 60's. At least you're having fun.
Used your adjustable wrench and other wrench trick because I didn't have a metric. Worked great. Thanks for the tip!
Always a good day when Low Buck Garage releases a video. Thank you!
“Hexagon spacers”… love this channel 👍
you are a 5 out of 5 brother.. Blessings and Shalom over you and your family? We Love You Matt.
I helped a friend turn a 1966 pickup with a bad motor into a trailer. It looked a lot like this, but ours was a long box.
lol he stands across the property looks good from here 😅
Yea the 50-50 view
50 feet away
50 mph
Looks great
"So I'm done here" when working on the trail light had me laughing out loud so hard. Thank you
woohoo! I like the part where he walked up to the trailer and said "It's trailering time!"

Very enjoyable video! You do great work!
Uncle Jed and Granny would be proud to have you as an adopted cousin.
I Live Vicariously Through You
Bicariously is a strong statement 👍👍
I love this stuff. If I could support my life doing it, I totally would.
Yeah, I've been wondering how he makes a living to have time to do all this and have a family. 115k subscribers does not seem like enough to live off YT. I work full time and barely have enough time to do an oil change these days.
Only videos I watch more than once. I learn a lot too.
I learn Island.
Something every time I watch your videos
That is an early 60s bed. I have a 64 long bed and that is a nice looking short bed. Love the channel .
Excellent video James :) yes find nice finds especially old Ford box got fixing up also would put metal big sheet floor and weld up in place! Also wonderfull finders keepers and did superb!!

Having lots of fun. Thanks
Altijd goede video’s, thanks 👍🇳🇱
Love those Harbor Freight taillights
No such thing as too many trailers. It just makes life more versatile
I'm jonesing for an update on trailers and Connecticut living. Enjoy your summer.
Nice job on the repairs James 🙂👍
One & a half videos in one! Not baad. That's like more ice cream or one & a half donuts instead of the standard helping! I hope part two is that good.
You're sure a handyman! 👍

I have serious trailer envy. Great video as always!

Looks like you're still having fun!

Great projects
Great video!!. I think the whole mangled nut cutting (and maybe still have fingers after) part would've the job for a hacksaw 😂
My leisure routine is to wait for James' next video. This was great as always, the taillight part was as Magaiver as it could have been
Nice job sir cool trailer Nice show 👏👏👏👍👍👍
the original taillight bucket socket you can rebuild so dont toss them
I always enjoy and look forward yo your videos!
Looking forward to seeing that tractor in a vid, little thing looked neat.
My newest floor Jack is a Die-Hard. I like it!
Why replace the pinion seal?
Toss the pinion & plug the hole.
exactly! 😄
You have the patience of Job,..😊
That is a 1964-1966 Ford pickup short bed. Good find.
At homd in bed. Had knee replacement surgery. Not feeling to great then i spied out a video from LBG. Feeling better already

Your paint prep method is very similar to what I do on the very few things I actually paint
God I love low buck garage
Had a 72 ford pickup that green color.old licence plates are great for truck bed patching.
Boat trailer just needs some scrap pieces of structural rebar welded to it, good as new.
Like always great content!
Thanks James
