Shopping for Junk!

- I'm going shopping at my main source for large and odd projects, and I bring a camera along so you can see some of the cool stuff, too!
Not everything here is for sale, but a lot of it is. If you see something you can't live without, you can contact Skipper at adobedrilling@hotmail.com
My wife should be very thankful we live nowhere near that awesome junkyard.
That junk yard was really well kept, looks as if everything was in its place and he knew what he had and where it was located. Real guy with a lot of knowledge as you could tell when he spoke. Thanks for taking us along, I think you made some great deals.
Would definitely watch another video of him doing a guide around his yard
That guy is an absolute legend. They don’t make them like that anymore.
Skipper needs a TH-cam channel!
Some may see just a old junk collector but I see a vast knowledge and passion.
Not gonna lie, gonna miss that truck, one of the coolest design and color. Hope another finds its way back into the channel!
What amazes me is how he remembers everything he has. WOW
That place should be named Dreamland. Lotsa dreaming going on there.
His level of organization is kick ass . Very interesting
You are fortunate to have such wonderful sorce of toys and tools, and a great gentleman of a friend.
The large shaper was the best piece I saw. He had his jack organized for sure.
Your buddy has some neat stuff James, and he's well organized. Sad to see the Binder go but I know you'll run across something cooler to replace it. Thanks for taking us along. Happy wrenching 🔧🔩
There is a fella in Australia who has a channel called Garbage Time, dealing with rust necromancy too. He has a friend, who is some sort of rust necromancer and he is also named James!
I think it's some sort of James thing, to be knowledgeable about old motors
@@Whiterabbit124 I will check the channel out 🙂👍 Thanks for the suggestion
Wow what a goldmine of unusual stuff. I could spend a few hours there myself.
I used to see yards like that all over the nation , Truly a great collection
Then the high dollar scrappers started places like Schnitzers that sold millions of ton of metals globally
That lever action on rear of frame of the international. We had same thing on an old chevy Cheyenne. It was so you could extend the bumper to accommodate a cab over camper the surpassed the bed and bumper.
I could while away so many days, happily wandering around your friends yard. How many toys, all of them.
That guy has been busy! I feel that if I had a junk yard (which I really would like to have one btw) it would be organized i. Similar fashion. He is a wealth of knowledge and seems like a really nice person. I hope his business flourishes. Get that man a web designer, some catalog skills and a shipper... he would be sold out in no time.
What great place, I see why you like to go there.
International built some tough trucks. At 17 my friend Don got a brand new 1969 Scout to run his paper route with. It had a 110hp 4cyl, 3 sp floor shift, locking rear rear diff and 80% limited slip front w/ Studded Goodyear Suburbanite Snow tires. It went just about anywhere and it was indestructible. We purposely drove it into ponds and creeks trying to get it stuck. When we got it stuck, we took turns trying to get it unstuck. With Rev and 1st inline w/ each other it was real easy to ram it in Rev and then 1st trying to keep any momentum we'd got going. We used to think Rev was syncro'd cuz it never ground. Sometimes we had to pull it out with a tractor, but all we had was a tiny little Ford 8N, so we had to jerk pretty hard on it to get it out. One day while we were at the International dealer I asked the manager where we should hook on it to pull it out. He told us to pull it out by one of the spring shackles. His words to us were " If you can break that spring shackle International will give you a brand new Scout." It never broke. We couldn't break that Scout. We rolled it 300' and when it stopped it landed on it's wheels. The only thing that broke was the distributer rotor, or we would have driven it out of there. Don's gone now, Rip Don. Thanks for the memories. Jimmy, Jimmer & Ben are still around to tell the tale.
That man is a hidden national treasure. He should be selling tours!
Junkyards like that can be life savers. Imagine needing that one panel for your old mack truck restore and seeing it on this video :)
Your buddy is a character for sure. That place reminds me of my grandpas lot in escondido, back when I was a very young tyke. The old guy reminds me of my grandpa. My grandpa wasn't near as organized. Nor as sober as this guy. He has a gold mine of stuff. I have a neighbor who has pieces stored a lot like this. Fortunately, our pinon pines bring privacy. He calls himself a "pilot". Spelled "pile it". There is something about New Mexico that brings out the "pile it" in a person. There are "pile its" all over the state, we have found.
Another great episode.
14:20 this guy makes me feel a bunch better about my hoarding. but I do need to clean out my garage, bad.
I saw the thumbnail earlier but went to an estate sale to buy some tools. Glad to see nearly 4,000 people have come to watch your video in these hours! Great to see more people joining this channel and keeping fun a priority in life. Have a super weekend!
Wow! Your friend sure has a lot of knowledge about what he has. And also keeps everything in order. It's one of the most neatest and most very well stocked yard, I have ever seen.
What a well organized yard.
Wow this guy has a really cool place. I could spend days looking through that yard. He seems like a good guy and likes to talk about his stuff. The tractor welder was awesome.
Skipper is quite the character. He would rather trade then sell from what I've dealt with. My buddy is trading a sweet old 40s Mack truck for a lathe from him. Never been to his yard even though I live down the street from him. Maybe I ought to go pay him a visit. Trade him a plane for a truck.
That old guy is awesome. I grew up in rural Montana and he reminds me of the old loggers and ranchers.
I could spend days looking round that yard. 👍🏿
that ol boy has one hell of a stash!!! wish i had that much room...😁
I grew up in a yard very similar to that!! You're very lucky to have a paradise like that near you, I miss mine very much.
Wow, what a crazy amount of eclectic stuff, I love it!
His organization is awesome.
Just what I see discarded in my little New Hampshire town both makes me sad and happy. For example the vintage Kitchen Aid dishwasher that got crushed before I could stop it. Sad face. Window AC in woodgrain that now hums like a kitten and matches my refrigerator, microwave and dehumidifier also thrown away. Happy face.
under the back of that truck is for the spare tire . it cranks down ! great junk yard , you a blessed man my friend !
I'm building a 4x6 lawnmower with a dump box with 2 engines. It will still have a functional blade as a regular lawnmower but will have 2 axles in the back. The engine in the back will be for the hydraulics and extra hps when needed
I'm always blown away by the genius-level knowledge "junk" people possess. Amazing.
don't understand a word, but the junkyard guy has one amazing hat 😂
That gentleman has an amazing collection!! 😍
I would love to be friends with someone who works in that business, for me it is more exciting to find the part that I did not know I needed than to find what I was really looking for! 😆
People look at me like I’m crazy when they come to me and ask, what you looking for? I say I don’t know but I will know when I see it.
I'm very sad that you had to get rid of that beautiful International truck. I had unexpectedly fallen in love with it.
Love those junkyard guys I can chat with them all day long hahaha
What an incredible place. Acres of stuff I've never even heard of. The welder tractor was a trip I wonder what it was used for.
Even watch the video yet but I know it's going to be great. I genuinely have a great time watching you working all your projects regardless of what it is. Now with that being said I know this is going to be a great episode. Appreciate all the hard work you put into your channel it is greatly appreciated and liked a lot thank you.
That old feller was real knowledgeable about stuff most of us aint even heard of!
That was cool, thanks for taking us along for the shopping trip!
Amazing place, I'd love to come down and wander around talking about stuff all day, plus there's a bunch of pieces I'd buy in a heartbeat.
The international at 9:17 or the ford cabover at 16:17 are two lovely additions to your fleet James
Dude that welder tractor is awesome. I used to drive a fire truck like he has. Good times. If you end up in Tucson check out jacks government surplus. His yards are mind boggling.
I've seen many ''shopping'' videos, but this takes the cake!!! GREAT CONTENT! And I did see something I liked. Put in a good word for me, I'm one of your 1st and longest subs. I did email him for the lab stirrer hotplate, Thank you.
Wow!. I like your friend a lot. I REALLY appreciate his knowledge of what he had!
WOW! What a cool collection of goodies!
I am sure glad that I don't live near there. :-) That is quite an interesting yard and. he sure knows his stuff. A lot of equipment, that I have never seen before.
I loved the fact that he appreciates the good steel used to make those saw blades. I always had my eye out for that type of scrap made from good steel. Young people, only think of buying from the supplier, it sure adds to the cost of a project.
My brother in law, had an 8,000 lb PTO Ramsey winch on his 65 Ford, and that thing was awesome. I am still using an early 70s Warn 8000, which is indestructible.
Every one need a drag line ,what a great junk yard what really cool stuff I've been walking Junk yards since I was a kid and that was a long time ago ,I would have the Allis Chalmers HD5 dozer with the 2/71 Jimmy engine in a heart beat ,Great engine and dozer
Awesome. That bloke knows his stuff👍👍
Man he is organized, lots of great stuff there
Man that guys got the heavy equip for sure and neat and organized , very knowledgeable too!!!!
What a great video. Thanks for the tour😊
My idea of heaven, having fun? you betcha!!!!
I LOVE your buddy's yard. I would be enthralled if he gave me a tour and told me about each and every part. Love stuff like this.
So much still useful stuff.hope he can find buyers .
Absolutely love this. I’m a mechanic but this fills my empty void of how I wish I had it.
I just found this site and it is great. Both of these guys are the real thing.
Being there, I picture myself like Dom Deluise in a toga, "Treasure bath!!!!!" Fantastic ride with your friend. That gent has a tremendous memory, a wealth of knowledge. We had one of those Ramsey winches on the front of a Dodge W300. It was an absolute beast, well both were. Thank you!!!
Nice yard, some cool items there. For sure
I would watch a whole in depth video just on that Hobart welder tractor contraption!
That old guy is all the way cool. What an interesting place.
I think Musti 1 would go camping there, just to see everything and have a nice chat with this Guy! Well sortet and organized Yard and cool stuff to see! What an awesome and cool place and Landlord! Thanks for sharing!
That old man is an historian he knows his stuff😮.
Such an asset to know a man like that. Knowledgeable, meticulous and a nice guy.
Great video but sad to see the IH go... I love those trucks, not many good videos out there on fixing them up.
I had a 73 Louisville Ford tandem truck that was an 880. Later years were 8000’s. The truck at the junk yard was a smaller model.
First mill I ran was an Induma. Wonderful Italian Machine!
That guy is a legend. I loved this video.
that green F truck was pretty, I recognize that forklift.
The variety of projects you taake on is amazing. I have been watching your older videos and love your ability to improvise. I thought for a minute you were going to get that honkin big lathe ! That fire truck looking thing could make a sweet flatbed, setup like a rolloff truck. Load on flat ground, then pull up on truck.
Old junk, right up my alley...
Thats a bummer, that is a really cool truck.
I love the Inernational pickup! Your friends got some cool stuff!
NO! You can't get rid of that truck! It's too awesome;
"That's a cute little diesel" reminds me of when Travis shops for guns in the movie taxi driver.
Good ol skip great guy been a good friend over the years
Scout. scout. scout... we all know its just a matter of time until it becomes ours lol.
That's a well-organized junkyard!
That truck is so awesome... if it was mine idk if I would give it up for anything.
I've never seen such a well organized junk collection, that place is glorious. And your buddy seemed to know so much about every piece
I just hope you share those projects with us,🤟😝👍, lol, thanks for sharing.
That cab over Ford would make a killer ramp truck car hauler
WHO could possibly not like old junk ?!
Now that's some cool stuff.👍🇨🇦
That place would be dangerous to my financial well being
I am now able to get back to my current project after som serious health challenges it is a 1968 gm Pd4107 bus being turned into a motor home
I suppose a wire on the exhaust is the hot wire
Oh, man. I know that place well! I'm sure glad you did this.
That was awesome, thank you.
I might have to buy that weld mobile.........Your friend is really cool. He really knows his stuff. I love that Insley Drag line also. I really can't live without a ton of stuff . great video...Even that SA200 would be awesome...

Your friend is very knowledgeable on the unique items that he has. I enjoyed hearing him speak about these items that I didn't necessarily know too much about but I feel like I know little more now. I went ahead and subscribed after watching a few of your episodes. I think I have the cable and two items he is looking for. I have the whole rig. So I will reach out to him. We've talked about selling it but and happy just the right thing. Been in the family forever. On any case thanks for showing us your friend's yard. He is so well organized. Mazen the body style difference between my 66 international and the one you just traded. But then there's a lot of difference between my 6651 international we have.
The only think I would like to have is the old international scout.
I need him to organize my shop and closet.
Hello Sir. I'm kind of new on your channel, i watch you from a month now. I love your skills and your highly sense of humour.
Also, because i also have an TH-cam channel and know how hard is to filming while you working, i really love your content.
On topic, that white Ford truck with shaft missing is awesome.
See ya and as we say in Romania, 'Spor la treabă' aka good luck on working 🥰
Also, i forgot, all the video you say only "huh" 😂😂 That guy has some knowledge.
That yard is a candy store...
That crane is an Insley model L, with a Waukesha engine.
Alot of cool stuff 😎
