You should build an outhouse at the mine. Nothing better than crapping on your own land in an outhouse. Just leave plenty of moth balls and other snake / critter deterrents and you'll be fine. You should get fancy and build a 2- holer. With a separating wall for group emergencies. It would make a great video. Be sure to put the toilet paper in an old sealed coffee can to keep the mice away like my grandma. Also leave a can of wasp/ bug spray at the ready. It's an adventure your children will remember.
The good thing about today is a new low buck garage video! The bad thing? Only 17 minutes long! 😭 I'm rewatching young old videos from when I discovered your channel. They always bring a smile to my hoarding face 😁👌🏻
Those plastic welders can be a lifesaver, I fixed a battery that had a hole in it months ago, and it's still holding strong. Just never use those inside, otherwise a headache is inevitable.
4:50 Great explanation of how the dipstick works, with the pickup and the crank weights. Many people add a certain amount of oil and mark the stick based on where the level ends up.
I had to replace the dipstick tube on my Dart 318 when it finally broke off in the block. I found a nice aluminum one in the junk bin at my you pullit and I just marked the dipstick to match when it was full. I don't remember if I ever found a original one again but it worked and was free or dirt cheap.
Great vid! I always enjoy your bus vids (and mine vids too). Holding tanks are usually ABS - just like drainage pipe. If your repair doesn't hold up, you can use ABS cement and some ABS pipe shavings, a piece of pipe or a flat sheet of ABS (ACE H/W) to permanently patch it
Dear LBG. 👍👌👏 Well done again (video and work). I definitely like your old family bus. 2) It really seems that nowadays absolutely each and everything new is crap respectively at least not as good as older stuff was. 3) Unfortunately your second property seems to be far away from your home/house/workshop. Hope not too far away. As always: Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and especially health to all of you.
Got up early and found your new post 👍 That Cummins still runs like new, Dodge was smart to put those in their diesel pickups. Thanks for the post and the education with a sense of humor. Indirectly meeting the family was nice too❤️
Manual says: "Twist a little after melting wire staple into the plastic" This should contract the cracked lines harder together. Good Video, Love the Bus Shenanigans🤓😍🤓
Enjoying the return of "The Bus"! It's like having a small motel room at the mine property, only probably not up to the "we'll leave the light on" standards. But the price is right!
Im mostly a tech person, Cars are not my biggest interest. But Ive started enjoying car repair videos for some reason lol. Your channel sort of started my new obsession.
While I greatly enjoy watching your videos (work fascinates me, I can watch people work for 8 hours a day!), I had a bit of extra joy seeing a Wisconsin (my home state!) Kenworth mud flap on the bus! 😊
Good morning from Cape Cod 🐋 I've watched many of your videos and I believe there is absolutely nothing you can't fix. Pie Town? Ohh, I'm pulling in there also 😋 great video as always, keep up the great work 👍✌️🇺🇲
This reminds me of a saying I remember from a long time ago…. If your Jeep isn’t leaking, it must be out of fluid! I really enjoy watching you. You are as cheap as me. Everything can be fixed. John from Cape Cod
The new property is the place to go! All that room, and stuff everywhere. It's like heaven! A friend of mine told me that there were NGK knock off spark plugs floating around. I wonder if you got a set of them. Apparently, there are a lot of junk auto parts being made that look the same, are cheap, but do not work. You can't tell by looking at it, what is good and what is junk!
Love everything you’ve done on the bus so far. I wish the roof scoop was more like the shape of the bus lines. I know that sometime you will come across a ductwork 90 that has a soft curve which would look like original equipment. This could still be done the Low-Buck way and you wouldn’t lose any respect. That bus looks so comfortable when it’s tripping. Hope it’s fun to drive.
Glad to know you have a favourite putty knife and gasket scraper. Whenever I have to do drywalling or scrape finish off wood, my only choice is Richard brand scrapers. Yellow and green. They just work!
I found this channel a couple of days ago and I gotta give it to you man, you made a guy who has never been a car guy watching your DIY daily. Keep up the amazing work and if you aren’t having fun you’re doing it wrong!
No I don't feel as bad when I'm hoarding good used parts. I have 5 Acres I don't need to worry too much yet. LOL. Love to see you working on the old stuff and making it work
There's only one thing I can't stand worse than getting into my excrement, and that's someone else's, shew James, you're really getting right to the top of my Yuck, list. I hope you don't breathe the smoke fumes from that tank! Just normal oil, no chunks no water, that's refreshing! That bus seems like it's going pretty good, I hope you don't "park" it there too long. That is a mobile family unit, all you have to add is a lake or river and you have instant resort. Nice video James, thank you for getting it up on the net. ben/ michigan
Hey man, love your videos. I have adopted your method when working on projects and now when it stops being fun, I move on to something else. It's helped me a lot! Thanks
I never put antifreeze in the potable water tanks on RV’s. Since the tanks can never be completely drained it takes forever to flush out the bad taste of the antifreeze. Just drain it and leave the valves open. What little water is left will freeze but it won’t hurt anything. I love that old bus!
When working on cracked plastic, drill holes at each end of the crack to stop it from advancing. Also, when using the hot staples, apply heat, twist the gun slightly in order to draw the two sides of the crack closer together. Then release the trigger for hardening.
Very very excited for more mine content, that thing is so rad and i cant wait to see all the cool stuff you got to keep! (hopefully the cool stuff remained)
Almost certain the pallet jack in front of the Oliver will be rebuilt in a future video. That bus has turned out to be one amazing vehicle for you and family. You are a guy who puzzles me as to the amount of talents you have somehow taught yourself. I found another channel that may entertain your skill sets. I am amazed at how many Canadians are just some of the best in metal fabrication. No link as they may contain a virus so the guys name is Nick and his dad who also a metal master is similar in sound but memories of names are just not in my wheelhouse anymore. That channel name is INNvision Prototypes. Since you enjoy quite a bit of mopar stuff and do fab work.... I think your going to gain some more to those skills your already aware of. I bent and welded different metals in my day of fab and mechanicing so please check this out. Hope the Enino is finally over and our weather will kind of resume some normalcy
Daaang, those battleship desks you had to move to park the bus, those are really awesome. Just need a coat of paint on each of em. Pity I can't even afford to make you an offer, and I'm in NC besides, so shipping would be atrocious. A pity, I've always loved those things. Borderline indestructible without the use of military grade explosives.
I've been using one of those plastic welding guns for a couple months; best way i've found to use them is to let the wire staple melt in about halfway, then give it a little twist before you let off the trigger. That little twist helps imbed the staple actually in plastic with solid not melted plastic on either side. Really seemed to give it more strength. Plus use the "wavy" staple length wise so the wavy staple acts like a stich and you'll have less movement.
Trust me sir you are not the only one getting sick and tired of buying new parts and they're broke right out of the box. here within the last year it has really gotten bad 9 out of 10 things I order are bad. I'm really tired of people saying by made in America. here's my response to that .I will gladly use it if you can afford to pay for it I just cannot afford anything hardly American made and therein lies the problem with American made. Truly love your videos looking forward to the next video.
Good job finding the mysterious current drain. If you ever have an intermittent one, here is the easy way find it. Hook your battery to a charger/maintainer and hook a small light bulb between the battery and load. Hang the bulb out somewhere where you can see it as you pass by. When the light is on, you can unhook things, one at a time until the light goes back out. That is most likely what is coming on and killing the battery.
Be careful with cheap oil pans. I’ve seen a Deboss Garage video where he had to rebuild a cummins because the paint peeled off an aftermarket oil pan and got sucked into the oil pump.
Posted the SAME THING!!! Wanted to THUMBS UP yours to help bring ATTENTION!!! I'd rather have the 3 gallon (plenty of oil) PERFECTLY GOOD, Cummins pan that's 4 times better. They're 4 times as expensive for a REASON.......T'SOB!
You Tubes greatest junk yard engineer/shop teacher. And I never miss a vid. And wishing I was closer to you so we could talk vehicles.
*Amen* to that!
You're not wrong, AFAICT... I wish I was close, too. I'm in NC.
Time for a “Low-Buck and Coffee” meetup.
"And suddenly, there was less pie."
That's a brilliant way of saying: "We ate the entire pie and hit the road thereafter".
I really love your style and humor. Great video as always!
Yes! I agree with you. Sort of humorous. Puts a light hearted twist on my serious kind of life.
I missed you and this bus so much.

People have shown me how to chase down electrical things before but this made SO much more sense. Thanks!

We really wish you would create more videos Sir. Love your humor and ingenuity. You should really have many more subscribers!

Just what I needed before starting my day.
I would totally live on that property. That would be heaven!
Thanks for another great video. I enjoy seeing you tackle whatever the problem is, whether is mechanical or electrical, or neither.
I love Pietown. There is a rich history to such a tiny place. It is just so far away from my home.
Great vid! I always enjoy your bus vids (and mine vids too).

I really enjoyed this series!
Just fantastic to watch all your ongoing sagas and adventures

Cummins saved Dodge trucks, there's no doubt about that.
You just keep knockin' 'em outa the park. Another great vid.
Great entertainment. Fixing problems & getting it done. Never saw a plastic stitcher . Cool😊
One of these days I'd love to work come out and work together on something. I bet a lot of viewers feel that way. Great work.
This was time well spent with a salt of the earth man.
So glad I found this channel! I have a better understanding of underneath the hood. And you are hilarious.
Such an inspiring scene in these times.....the American dream is still real...
zip ties make a great filler material for plastic welding. Great video!
I would be afraid I would get back to the mine. And the bud would be gone. You are a brave man
not hard to immobilize a vehicle, especially something like a bus that is not practical to tow
Manual says: "Twist a little after melting wire staple into the plastic"
This should contract the cracked lines harder together.
Good Video, Love the Bus Shenanigans🤓😍🤓
I’d advise a battery disconnect for every battery in that old rig. Great video.
it's really cool you can fix a whole bus like this, and on your own
Careful with that oil pan! I've seen cheaply painted pans slough off inside the engine and the paint blocks the oil pickup.
Love the bus series!
Most oil pans are painted.
