Those 10mm bolts at the back of the upper intake manifold are impossible to get to. How on earth did you get to them with just an extended 10mm socket? I can’t get a purch on it not even with a universal joint I am pulling my hair out
Got a question for you. I’ve got a 2008 Mazda RX-8 project car. Decided it was time to change the oil, got that intake lifted up so I could get to the oil filter. Once I got the oil filter changed and added fresh oil I reassembled it all, fired it up and now I have a strange noise while idling. I can describe it as a “Tacking” or “Popping” Did I leave something unplugged? Maybe I have a line not reconnected?
Ive been doing alot of research on a issue im having with a hose on the back of the Intake Manifold, near the oil filter. Under heavy load and high rpms, this line will blow off the nipple on the IM and puke oil all over the block. Im guessing about a full quart or so. Checking diagrams of vacuum lines, there isnt suppose to be one there, only the pcv that routes under that area. but its not the line/hose. any idea ? watching your video closely I dont see the line i speak of. Also I found my vacuum line off the oil filler neck was routed to my lower intake service ports. Why? i removed and put a catch can in place. i dont know why it was routed that way, it should go to the intake hose.
In 2006( also recall for 04 and 05) they changed that line from the oil fill neck to intake to the 2 inspection ports of the lower intake manifold. Keeps oil from getting into the upper intake manifold. It also keeps the eccentric shaft and oil pan from developing positive pressure. I had it done n my 05 and it really smoothed out the engine. It also should solve your first issue. You need to run a line off your catch can into those service ports. hopefully your catch can has a filter.
That line by your oil filter that keeps blowing off goes to your intake before the throttle body. It is part of the 06 revision and is to be used in conjunction with the line from oil filler neck to lower intake service ports. It can be seen in this diagram www.bing.com/images/search?view=detailV2&ccid=nDUgYazN&id=6754ED84DDD835E47AE9F19FFE41497F99F0145D&thid=OIP.nDUgYazNhN5d76IZbxliZAHaH-&mediaurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.2carpros.com%2Fimages%2Fquestion_images%2F190145%2Foriginal.jpg&exph=1114&expw=1034&q=s1+mazda+rx8+vacuum+line+diagram&simid=607999805204203551&ck=95C970038FCD8B2FDCDC1514EC15F055&selectedindex=37&ajaxhist=0&vt=0&sim=11
Cole Brosie Well technically I got bored and just wanted to replace the gaskets. But being I’ve pulled this intake multiple times, I’d figure it was time to replace them anyways lol
Found what seems to be a similar or identical kit at Atkins Rotary: www.atkinsrotary.com/store/04-11-Rx8-Six-Port-Upper-Intake-Manifold-O-Ring-Kit-ARE20.html
This is a good time to change out those intake valve solonoids, as well as clean that dirty upper manifold.
Mazda shouldve made the engine bay bigger. The intake is a bitch to remove.

Mine keeps leaking the small one by the filler neck Iv don’t new rings wonder if put gaskets seal around it now

What drove you to change these? Was there a suspected vacuum leak?

??
Can you please provide an ebay link? I have the exact same 6 port and need to do the same as well. Thanks. Great video.
Jason Brownworth yes no problem, just go to eBay and under search, enter this number 350994072699 and should take you right to them. Thanks
@@ls1camaro92 Doesn't seem to work anymore. Is there a better way to find them, or a link?
