    Thanks for sharing. Lookomg forward to the XEL. You've got a bit more bells-&-whistles on the instrument panel, but to each there own. Happy flying.

    My dad's a pilot was looking at gyrocopters at one point and got into Paragliding. I just wanted to ask if the kit was 50k? How much is the engine?
    I used to look into jet engines, how you could make them, but they are really expensive. Helicopters are like a delicate blade of death, there isn't any homemade cheap way. I love flying helicopters in video games, I just think of how cool it would be to have dual seats or being able to sit on a side bar.

      My kit was about $50k plus the engine (now about $20k) and add ons (about $5k).

    Suggestion use lead shot in a small bag that you can slip inside the tube this way you can weigh out the shot exactly to where you want it to reduce the vibration.

      I think I'm going to melt lead in a scrap tube piece and then shave it to weight and drop it on. But thanks for the recommendation. If the lead doesn't work out, this is the next try.

    Pretty good walk through. Your ship is a bit different. I like it.

    i love the color, this is a very old video, i hope its still flying strong, turbine sound awesome but i wouldn't give up over 100 miles flight distance over sound. my mosquito xe 290 can fly 200 miles, that is 2.5 hours of flying, and it can fly 3.3 hours, which i only did once, its just to long of a flight in a small heli

      I certainly do miss the extra flight time. I get about 1+40 out of mine. I just didn't want the scheduled engine maintenance on the recips. The turbine is at least 2k hours before any mandatory maintenance. And the sound was more what I was used to in the military.

    What are the hydraulic hoses on the collective where it makes a right angle?

    • @FlyNavy
      @FlyNavy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those are fuel lines. They are compensator to assist the mechanical fuel control.

    “Two 12 volt batteries in parallel make 24 volts.”
    I’m sure you meant to say “…in *series* make 24 volts.” 😊

      I did. It had been too long since my electrical courses in college. Thanks for pointing that out.

    Are you using weights on the front tips of your landing skids to reduce 2/rev also ?

    • @FlyNavy
      @FlyNavy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am now. I moved 2 lbs from the glare shield out to the skid.

      @@FlyNavy I just ordered trim tabs and I'm working on a dampener to put inside the tips.
      Seems like a very common problem

      @@treatrayner1 I put trim tabs on while building but haven't got around to adjusting them yet.

    How much power does the starter use to spin up?

    • @FlyNavy
      @FlyNavy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure of the power. It's a standard Napa of the shelf 24 volt starter.

  • @grevis101

    Hows your progress on that 2/rev with the trim tabs

    • @FlyNavy
      @FlyNavy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haven't started with trim tabs yet. I'm going back first to check lead/ lag and balance first. I put the blade tracking lights on and then realized that would require them to be rebalanced.

      Interesting. In portrait it looks fine but in landscape it becomes small. I'll have to see if I can edit the videos resizing.
