    Funny that you are the closest thing to instructions on how to connect the daypack to Osprey packs.
    I purchased the Osprey Porter 46 litre years before I heard of possibly connecting a daylight pack. I Googled instructions and saw none!?!
    The 46 L was in actuality too big but I kept it because it does have its place in my one bag arsenal. However, attaching a day pack to the very back when it already sticks out a fair amount was something I never seriously looked into.
    Good to know that it does seem to be a pain and I'm not missing out on anything!

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's weird that Osprey doesn't have details on which Daypacks attach to which bags, and instructions on how to do it. It's almost like they just randomly attach loops to the outside of some packs and if you can figure out how to attach a daypack, then good for you. And yes, the 46 would be awkward and uncomfortable to carry if there was an additional daypack attached right on the back.

    • @IntriguedLioness

      @@OneBagTravels I agree that it seems like Osprey just wanted to think of interesting ways to attach more and more things. I had Legos as a kid so I suppose I would spend a bit more money if I took it seriously!
      And yes, the 46 is a little too big to attach anything to... but I love it because when I cinch the straight jacket (as I call it) it is basically bomb proof .. but tad big for a 5'4" female!!

    I love the idea of being able to hook them together, but in practice seldom do. I have an Eagle Creek roller with attachable daypack circa 2005 and only attached them a couple times over many trips. The Osprey system, where the attach points are super minimal seems about right, can attach if needed, but don't impact either bag significantly.

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, I don't see many scenerios where I would need to attach my daypack to may main bag. Maybe if I bought too much extra stuff on a trip and I was walking across town and didn't want to carry two bags. But yes I agree, even though they may not be often used, it's nice to have them there as an option, and they really don't take up any space/weight on the pack.

    Thank you for explaining how it is done. I used My Pacsafe metro 25 onto my Farpoint 40 with compression straps. The way Osprey does it is time consuming. Have remove the day pack to place the Farpoint in the over head and day pack under the seat.

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The double bag thing isn't the best, I prefer to have my daypack separate like you said. I will usually pack it before a flight and put it in the main bag somewhere I can get to easily. Pull the day pack out for the flight and put the main bag in the overhead.

    I attach my Daylite Plus by simply using the two front compression straps of the Farpoint 55 main pack (takes about 3 seccnds to mount, the official method as depicted in this video would drive me crazy). If some common sense is used the daypack can't slip through either, never had an issue in 6 years. These two front straps are by far the best feature of the Farpoint 55!

    I bought a Farpoint 40 in 2018, I'm guessing an older model than the one you're referring to, because it doesn't have these loops. I just picked up the Daylight. I love both of these independently, but was disappointed that there is not a simple way to connect them. Astoundingly, there are multiple different types of buckles on each, NONE of which are compatible across backpacks!
    Would you recommend buying/replacing the buckles to make the two packs compatible?

    Instead of the pain of how you attached the bottom bits, could I not just thread the hip straps through the bottom loops and connect them? I just tried this with my new daylite plus on my partners farpoint trek 75 and it seemed like it worked great. Hoping to buy the fairview trek 50 by EOY and see if my daylite plus can attach to it the same way.
    EDIT: Is there any reason I shouldn’t attach the bag to the bottom loops this way? Thank you

      Thanks, I got that mate in Salta Argentina. I drank it a lot when I was down there but it never really stuck, I still like my coffee =) And yes, they could have made a much better attachment system. Since it really only needs to mount from the top, something sturdier, snap hook, buckle, fidlock. The fabric loops are a little clumsy but it works.

    Apologies if I'm oversimplifying but if you have difficulty securing the lower buckle adjuster and the multiple layers of straps, would it not be easier to thread the hip 'belt' strap through the gear loops? while they may be bigger, a more sturdy and solid buckles could prove to be easier to thread and/or remove.
    I have this one on the way (warranty replacement) so I was checking out the reviews. thanks!

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Which 2 in 1 do you most recommend? I've been doing my best going through Osprey, Thule, etc and I havent been able to make a great decision. I mainly travelt to conventions in the US, but I am on a plane 5 or 6 times a year(or otherwise, driving for 6+ hours). My goal is to have the ability to travel as comfortably as possible while still having the carry-on convenience for both bags.
    Would you suggest this Osprey over say.. Thule 70l? or maybe another good option?
    For more info, I often find my osprey 40L is JUST enough for me, and then I carry a secondary backpack that can't strap on for my daily shenanigans. I feel like I might benefit from a little bigger pack in that regard.

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Farpoint is a great bag. I think if you're going to go larger than 40L it would be easier to just use rolling luggage. 70L backpack is doable, but it's so big and heavy it's not going to be very convenient to carry on a plane.

    • @MikeyKirin
      @MikeyKirin ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OneBagTravels I don't like the idea of rolling luggage, probably because I prefer both my hands be as free as possible.

    Perfect video for me because I have the Farpoint 40 and am now looking at a day pack that can also pass as a 'personal item' when boarding planes.
    Do you think airlines with a 40x30x10cm size limit on personal items would accept the daylite? The daylite is 43x26x20cm, but i could probably keep it below 10cm depth for the airlines if they dont measure the bag in an uncompressed state...
