Bought my new 2023 R1250 GSA from Marshalls BMW Grimsby, delivered to my home address 3rd March 2023. There was a Motorrad dealership nearer than Grimsby but after watching this video and comparing Steve Barretts approach to selling me a bike compared to the 'local' dealerships approach, Steve had it hands down. His approach is matter of fact and straight forward - open minded with objective opinions and advice. I placed the order mid-January and Steve kept me up-to-date with the bikes progress right up to delivery - to my home, on the date agreed, 5 minutes earlier than ETA. There was no 'can't do that' like at local dealership. Everything was above and beyond expectation / experience. I have rode over twice now, (once in rain), to have a coffee and say 'Thank You' for service provided. If you're thinking of purchasing a BMW Motorbike, regardless of your location from Grimsby I strongly recommend you give Steve a call - nothing to loose, everything to gain and they have superb facilities and range of bikes. Best Regards to All Bikers, Martin

Hi Steve , I had the same issue drove 8 miles to Petrol station filled up wont start. Jump started the bike from car. It had been on an optimate the problem was the tracker, ripped it off its now in the cupboard in the garage and no more issues, in fact the dealer here in N.I. is removing them before sale. I have the 1250RS. At 6 months old had the same battery issue, they had a batch of bad batteries and with the keyless, alarm and tracker it was too much for them. New battery under warranty and perfect ever since. I also keep a couple of keyfob batteries under the seat, as these don't last long either... The exhaust valve was another issue, after 6 callouts they fitted a new system, less the can.... Good video too.... 👍👍👍
Lovely Video steve. . I have had 2 RT'S and they are great. Recently went to dark side and bought a GSA1250. Cracking bike for 2 up touring with luggage. Great allrounder, but the RT is pure touring and comfort.

Happy new bike day John, may you have many happy and safe rides together. She's a looker that's for sure! Have to agree with you Steve you need to have an Optimate on modern bikes especially something like a GS if you are not riding it every day. A battery just sat on any bike will gradually 'drain'...a battery sat on the shelf will drain. Add in alarms, Trackers and everything else electronic it's a recipe for disaster (or battery failure) 'Heavy Duty' or not.
I had the 2022 R1250RT out on a very long test ride from Inverness to Fort William. Stopped at temporary traffic lights, so switched her off as it was taking ages, goes to start it, and the exact same as that, flat battery sounding. Long story short, recovery truck jump started, back to Inverness under it's own steam. Turns out, bad batch of batteries on a lot of 2022 bikes.....

Mine came with the halogen lamp bmw are replacing when the units become available which is pretty poor but it is what it is. Greetings from British Columbia, Canada. I've had my Mars Red Metallic RT since new, almost 5 years and 95,000 km. Love it. I don't get why people buy a GS to ride (often) solely tarmac. That's what RTs do best! A few people have pointed out that the rear turn indicator/running lights on the new GS are difficult to see when the brake light is on, ie: it's difficult to discern the flashing indicator. Steve, it looked like your Nav VI was misbehaving in this video? After replacing 3 of mine under waranty Garmin Canada replaced my 4th failed Nav VI, upon my request, with a Zumo XT. An adapter from 3D Adapter Motorrad and the XT fits right where the Nav VI did. Cheers!
Hi Gordon I to love my RT and your observant when you saw the VI playing up but all it was was the fact it had not been used in ages and had no charge and was so low it didn't even have enough to keep it on to charge long enough. When home charged through wall socket and was up and running fine my friend.

Great looking group of motorbikes in the group, congrats to John. I noticed your GPS acting up and reading through the comments saw your responses. I now take mine off the bike when I know I won’t ride for a while and keep it warm and charge when necessary in the house (which is rare). No problem going flat since I started doing that and keeping the bike on an optimate does not keep the Nav charged! 😂
Big bike small battery. I’ve had the same problem on my GS. They get left standing for a few weeks, then a short ride to the petrol station, and that’s the battery done. I think those cruise lights are dangerous. The idiot drivers who don’t wait until you’ve made the turn, will look quickly and think they saw a flashing indicator. For the GS Trophy, which rim is nicer? The black or the gold one?
John preferred the gold ones my friend.
John made a great choice! 😃
He loves it so yeah he did thanks 👍🤣
Nice video, picked mine up from Marshalls too 3 yr since, howling gale! So were both his seats heated? Might have to head to Seaways now, you've given me a nudge 👍
Cheers Smedders and to answer your question neither seat had heating with them fella.
He must have had every optional extra going.😊
Ha ha John likes his gadgets lol
Haha had the same problem with my 1250GSA, every two to three years this problem. Resolved by buying a new battery.
Same on this occasion Nick 👍
awesome video, could i ask whats comms you are using?
I have a sena 20s and John has a cardo edge my friend
@Steve-Clark thank you, will try, had a cardo and me and my wife really had a terrible experience but think it may have been user error.
Why does your Navigator appear to keep restarting?
Well spotted Mfpix, with us not going out for ages its battery was totally dead, bike was giving it enough charge to start but not enough to keep it going so was on off on off. When home charged it on the wall socket and tried it on the bike and was perfectly ok mate.
thanks Steve nice one, BMW's who will have them says a Ducati rider! 🤣
Cheers Robert each to their own eh 🤣 ride safe fella.
Fun episode
Pleased you enjoyed fella
Got to keep these on an Optimate, especially if the tracker is fitted.
Your right my friend ride safe
Dave from Sunny Scarborough here.
Great video again Steve. With all this talk about the GS and the RT, I was wondering if you have tried a GS? As you know, I’ve had my GS for four years now and I’ve been wondering about an RT but I haven’t had a test ride, although I only hear good reports about them. How do they compare, in your view? Ride safe my friend. Dave. 🏍🏍👍👍
Hi Dave you probably won't believe me but I have never tried a GS and John never an RT so neither of us can comment for you. But that might be an idea for a future video my friend "Bike Swap" Let me know if you have a test ride on an RT fella.
Cheers Steve, I will certainly let you know if I ever manage to have a go on an RT🏍👍
@@henryroscoe2464 Cheers Dave
Literally just bought a rallye TE in park lane bmw this Friday. Got a huge deal and got 10% off with a blue light discount. Was -3 😂😂😂😂
Happy days my friend ENJOY riding it when weather permits fella
@@Steve-Clark-1200rt I will do. Any recommendations for kit? I’ve ordered the bmw connected drive phone holder but that’s about it.
@@richardb2468 I replaced the sports windscreen on mine with the touring larger one, have 2 SW Motech tank bags which both clip onto the same tank ring, bought a pair of grip puppies for handle bar grips as found they were a bit thin without, a side stand foot extender oh and a pair of pannier bags for touring but not the BMW ones just after market cheapo ones as they fold flat when not in use, hope that helps a bit 👍
@@Steve-Clark-1200rt top man thanks
very nice bike, makes me wish i still had my Rallye
Another lovely model Gaz 👍
What's with the bouncing up and down on the saddle whilst being pushed???
Without weight on the back wheel it will lock up and skid rather than turn the engine
Think maybe he thought it would give more traction maybe, who knows 🤣
@@Steve-Clark-1200rt Was it in 2nd gear or 1st? I've had success bump starting in 2nd gear. Less wheel skid.
@@gordonhenderson1708 Actually 3rd gear Gordon
I will visit this place
Thanks for all the comments Keith and you want to pay Marshalls a visit if you can they are nothing more than total professionals in all aspects of service in my opinion. Ride safe my friend.
Steve does your sat nav keep cutting out ?
Well spotted Mark, with us not going out for ages its battery was totally dead, bike was giving it enough charge to start but not enough to keep it going so was on off on off. When home charged it on the wall socket and tried it on the bike and was perfectly ok mate.
@@Steve-Clark-1200rt Good to hear 😃
I thought you were swapping for a minuet there Steve, hope you're well bud
You'll never see me buying brand new fella and am really happy with the RT ride safe my friend.
That’s not a bike,it’s a spaceship🤪
🤣 Yeah think John will have to go to college to learn how to operate everything lo
I think those cruise lights are dangerous. The idiot drivers who don’t wait until you’ve made the turn, will look quickly and think they saw a flashing indicator. I can see some dubious accident defences coming up. I bought an RT in November. I’m watching HS and GSA vids and wish I could convince the wife we need both an RT and a GSA. I don’t think it’ll ever happen! Good luck with your new bike and Happy New Year, safe riding!
Happy New Year Alberto to you and yours my friend and time will tell about the indicators, oh and good luck trying to convince the wife about a 2 bike family 🤣
What is the seat height on the new bike? Nice looking machine.
I think its about 820 mm Simon being the low seat.
@@Steve-Clark-1200rt I looked up the specs of the BMW R650 that I used to have and the seat is just under that. Thanx for the reply.
@@simonchilli2088 No worries Simon
congratulation :)
Thanks mate 👍
great video

Hi Steve why don’t you treat yourself to a new bike for Christmas like your friends ❤
Never gonna happen fella would never buy brand new, but enjoy seeing others get their's 🤣 ride safe mate.
Automatic indicators on a BMW ?
Must av been an optional extra 🤣
🤣 Standard my friend standard LOL
Nice bike but Steve you need a new pair of gloves mate the left glove has a hole in it hahahaha
Bloody hell how observant are you and your spot on that was the last ride with that pair, replaced now cheers 🤣
@@Steve-Clark-1200rt hahahaha
OMG! A smile...
See it does happen (now and again)😉😊🤣
BMW have had a lot of battery issues over the last few months! Must be a bad batch of batteries. Just waiting for mine to fail at the moment.
Hopefully not Matty eh, ride safe my friend.
Hot start problem, feels like a flat battery!!.......... (dealers do a kit to sort it out )
He's all sorted now John after a heavier duty battery fitted 👍
You should get one of thes steve join the gang
Wish I could afford one 🤣
@@Steve-Clark-1200rt your bike is a peach as well steve the 1250 motor is good but so is your 1200 when the new 1300 comes. Out reveiwers will be saying how much better it is but that wont make the 1250 no good suddenly. Incidently i lime the adventure best

and that is why i carry a jump pack in my bag
Good plan my friend.
@Steve Clark didn't help when my rectifier went tits up though, as battery died around 2 minutes later lol 😆 but works if the battery just needs a boost and a crank

I agree I was pretty ill that day and 3 days later I was that bad had an ambulance sent out to me at 11.45pm so that’s why I was not jumping up and down 😢

Not a very good example of BMW reliability??
Check out uk,s most reliable makes BMW not up there.

Must admit I liked his old one but everyone's different and we all like different things 👍

The most boring bike on the planet!
🤔
Only because it’s good at everything 👍
That starting problem is sometimes caused by over filling of Petrol. I've had a similar problem. It's crazy with all modern bikes and cars nowadays. A very slight change in the vehicles management system and you get a shut down. Computer says No??. I'm sure that manufacturers can build in a system to alleviate some of these problems. 🧐🤨🤔🤞👍🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
