Bruce the ordinary man or woman could not afford one of these motorcycles tyres, fuel, servicing and so on. This is a tool for your work most of us have ordinary jobs and cannot afford to travel around the world. Especially when they do not get handouts from sponsors or patrons. Um !!!!!!!!!! Colin.

Rubbish - I AM an ordinary man, I buy my bike on PCP as that’s the only way I can afford them. I paid for my RTW trip by working 7 days a week for over 3 years, sold everything I owned, remortgaged, and credit carded myself to the hilt with debt.
      Handouts… get a grip

I’m an ordinary man, I’ve had to work bloody hard and save to own my GS. I know smokers who plead poverty and spend more on fags than it costs me to own my bike.

So, bike reviews should only consist of what you can afford? GS is bestselling large bike in UK so clearly a few people can afford them even if not new. A good review to inform riders thinking of buying an older GS what might be in store for them cost wise.

I just bought my first 1250GS, and I love it, all those story’s about it being the best and easy to ride anywhere are so true!
For me (personal taste) nothing comes close in rugged adventure looks, not even the new 1300.
Thanks Bruce for the great 50k review and previous vids which helped me make my mind up to get one.

Good work Bruce, a very informative 50K review vid! Most folks out there only review their own bike when it is brand spankers. I really really like the luggage capacity that can be mounted without any impact on performance.

Brilliant review Bruce. I've only got 3000miles on mine at the moment but I agree about the comfort. Much more comfortable riding position than my old 2012 R1200RT. No more hip cramp. My longest ride so far was Shropshire to Edinburgh an back, 291 miles each way. She absolutely sailed through it and never missed a beat. I also think it has a 'presence' on the road that gives you confidence that you'll be seen. Keep up the good work.

Great review Bruce. I have been looking at something a little smaller and took the F750GS out for a test ride. Loved it. Was so smooth, comfortable, and exactly what I would like to ride. Got a few others to test, but think the GS looks better at the moment.

Cheers Bruce, after 50,000 mls you’ve got the credibility to sum up this amazing bike. I agree with everything you say. Whilst the new R1300GS is going to be fab that doesn’t mean that the ‘old’ bike isn’t. I was out on my 2021 R1250GS yesterday in the pouring rain going to work and thinking just how much I love it!

Hi Bruce, like you I'm on my third GS, current on being 2021 1250 ADV, and riding since 1973 with a small break when the children were young. I have had a multitude of bikes, and enjoyed them all, two wheels=fun. But the GS's are the Swiss army knives of the biking world, and at 66 years old I try to keep fit so I can carry on with the pleasure of discovering pastures new. Thanks for the entertainment Bruce.

Great review, 50000 miles!! Awesome. I own an RT and had it for years, commuting every day in all weather, it’s a 2015 model but can’t part with it. Ordered myself a Ducati Pikes Peak, which is due in March, will be keeping the RT though. BMW customer service in Glasgow has been top notch, and I don’t think the servicing costs have been too bad, I too just had a big service with valves done and it was around the 400 mark.
Had a 2023 GS adventure for a courtesy bike, it was amazing, but I had already ordered my Ducati and I think that’s a very special bike, especially with all the add-ons I’ve got going on it. Was going to wait and see what the 1300GS has to offer, but I prefer the look of your model to the new one. Anyway, great vid as always, love the content. Have a great day!!

Informative and honest vlog Bruce, if I was touring from one end of Europe to the other then hands down I would choose the GS it is a great bike. But to cover all aspects (weekends, work, the odd tour) I chose the Multistrada V4 (after test riding the GS, Ducati, and KTM) because it puts a big smile on my face.

I love the gs for everything, Touring, thrashing, off-road etc does them all fairly well. Yes it’s not the fastest (not designed to be) , Not the prettiest, Not the best sounding engine but overall just better than the rest. 50k miles is a great milestone hope you have a puckle more miles on the old girl 👌

Having switched from a Multi V4S to a GSA, I can 100% agree on ownership experience being related to your dealer. I had to drive 100 miles away (60-70 miles further than necessary) to get a dealership worth dealing with. That’s not the only reason I switched but it was definitely a factor.

The RT is an excellent bike, but im looking for something a little more versatile now. By the way, i tend to refer to the GS as the panzer rather than the tractor! 😂

Great vid Bruce - beautifully written and edited. I agree with all you say with the exception of the point re dealerships. I’ve not found BMW service any better or worse than say Triumph, Honda or Ducati dealers - I think it entirely depends on the staff at the dealership you deal with….regardless of the manufacturers badge on the wall. I’ve certainly not experienced the amazing BMW service people refer too….

    • @teapotone
      @teapotone  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Cheers mate, not often these days that I get to sit down and actually plan a vid and it’s shots - SO much easier and quicker to do than the tour/vlog stuff!
Interesting to hear that Andy, I’ve had less than satisfactory service from BMW dealerships too - so I just go elsewhere and on the whole, the customer service across the majority of BMW dealerships I’ve tried (and I’ve been to quite a few now across the UK), has been brilliant.
Triumph - a boy used one for service when I bought the first 1200 Explorer and it was garbage.
Suzuki - again depended where I went, but these were almost always multi-franchise dealerships, and I found the best service was when I went to an independent mechanic.
If I was to own my GS outright and it was now outside its warranty, then I’d 100% use an independent mechanic👍

Really good independent review as normal mate. Never had a GS but think I prefer your 1250 to the new 1300 😂

Hi Bruce, great vid as always. Do you have your phone in a waterproof case (ultimate add on’s etc) when using the mount in this video? Cheers

Hey up! Fair play Bruce, Nothing like an honest opinion and preview from someone who has actually used the bike for work and fun in all weathers for more than just a sunny Sunday afternoon, I take a new GS model out every time I get my 1200GS serviced and as much as I love the new models I just can't bring myself to sell or exchange my 2010 R1200GS TE simply because it does everything that the new models do, other than ecelaleration of course, I also have all of the settings you have on the handlebars including the old Nav 5 with no issues finding my destination unlike the Nav 6, I have to admit though if I had the spare cash I would purchase the new 1300GS, However, still couldn't part with my old R1200GS.

      Cheers Andy,
I’ve filmed it all now and just need to edit them. Going to do a few vids on the new 1300Gs first as it’s hot property at the mo, then I’ll get the next return vid done and out 👍

Didn't have a good time with my 2019 1250, battery issues etc although as you say great service. I Now have a 2022 multistrada V4S and I'm 61 , it is the best bike I've ever ridden. It just feels quality and makes me smile every day.

i have a 2013 model, and covered circa 26K in the last 18 months on it. It's a superb Bike for all sorts of riding, and with aftermarket solutions, additions, trinkets etc etc means you can have one the way you want it - with minimal compromise.

Best bike I ever owned. Definitely the cheapest to service if you use Bahnstormer Alton. My first GSA was a 2016 and I clocked nearly 48k miles. My current GSA is a 2020 and I only clocked 16k miles because I don't do many miles nowadays.

I had my GS1250 for three years and did around 43k...I loved it and it never let me down. Saying that while on the France/Germany border, it got a puncture and when I took it to a German dealership they would/could not give me another either off a demo or from stores..and we tried three dealerships. It wasn't till we got into Italy I was able to pick up a new tyre at a local (not BMW) dealer.

Went from a Africa Twin 1100 DCT to a R1250 GS TE. No regrets, but AT a fantastic bike. Did over 1300 mile round trip of Scotland fully loaded GS, the bike performed like a formula 1 tractor.

Why is it called tractor? Is it because the cams sounds?

Ive owned three Gs's and put over 50 k on all three, totally agree on the reasonable service costs and reliability, same goes for the R which I put forty thousand on! I think the modern BMW boxer engine is the best engine for general riding by quite some margin!

Currently on my 3rd GSA and unless I am surprised by BMW by a 1300 Adventure I think I will be sticking to my new 2024 1250 GSA...love the look at does everything I could want. Will likely sell the Harley and keep the GSA if I drop to having only one bike.

I bought my December 2020 1250gs new and she’s just turned 49,000 miles this week. She’s ridden in all weather, all year round. I’ve had two indicators replaced and the headers replaced as the exhaust flapper valve failed under warranty. Other than that its been faultless. Every time I start her up I smile and will again in the morning.

Great real life review 👍 I own a 2021 1250 GSA, and feel exactly the same (except it is heavier and higher, so manœuvres can be tricky, especially with luggage and pillion). And there are 5 levels for the heated grips and seat. One thing though : never could have the dash + Navigator + iPhone + Cardo + connected app work together 😡. Tried everything I could find on the web, just does not work. So I took an old iPhone 6s from a drawer, installed BMW connected App, and use it together with the Navigator. And the iPhone12 is connected to the Cardo.

Hi Bruce, good review! I am very satisfied with my GS 1250 but I have a question. I am 6 feet tall and while I am riding I feel wind buffeting & noise on the top section of my helmet. How about you?
I am thinking of switching my screen for the bigger GSA screen. Is this something you thought of regarding comfort? Thanks & ride safe! My season is over here in Quebec…snowfalls are imminent! 😉🏍

My experience much the same as yours. I've a Sept 2019 bike, with 52,500 miles. Not missed a beat. Only failure was the wiz wheel (not covered on warranty as failure after 3rd year). Been to Spain, France, Norway, Scotland. The old girl rattles a bit but still feels like new. Would I buy another, yup without doubt. Further I'm 67years of age and I don't find the bike heavy or difficult to manoeuvre.
