Anonymous Comes to Town: The hackers who took on high school sexual assault in Ohio

- The sleepy rustbelt town of Steubenville, Ohio, was once best known for high school sports and as the birthplace of Dean Martin.

But when a teen sexual assault committed by two members of the football team surfaced, the shadowy hacker group Anonymous caught wind of the story and decided to intervene.
After publishing videos and social media from the night of the assault to their millions of online followers, they sparked viral outrage and demands for #JusticeforJaneDoe.
They unleashed a passionate mob and their actions divided the small town, but in the process gave strength to generations of women forced to hide abuse. This film asks, when it seems like nothing will change, when is it OK for outsiders to intervene?

It's going to be hard for these victims to ever trust males again, maybe the boys that went to PRISON will have the same problem.(don't drop the soap)
I Love y’all for bringing this to LIGHT what a shame for this town no Justice for the girl !!!🤬🤬🤬
That one guy saying "They need to move on and let this town heal." YOU aren't the one in need of healing buddy, you need to rip off your blindfold and look at the culture around you.
It's so ironic that the older generations of that town claim that Anonymous and hackers are monsters, but in reality, the real monsters are the ones who lived there and defended the rapists!
I'm so mad that I can't even watch the whole video because I feel like I want to cry and throw up at the same time.

You ruined it... also 7th
That poor, poor girl.
I hope whoever she is and wherever she is, that she’s doing ok.
I hope she got/gets the help she needs, I can't imagine the turmoil she had to endure in addition to this becoming national news. Just think, from her perspective you have the whole country that knows what happened to you, a town where literally half of the population hates you because they are blaming you, and on top of that the boys who did this most likely harassing and threatening her further while all that was happening.
I think they said she was deceased

It is so unbelievable to me how truly disgusting people are, like how do people actually think this way? Makes me sick to my stomach, truly.
Thank you for getting the truth out there Anonymous.
Most of the monsters in our society claim to be deeply religious.
True
The followers of a monster are mostly monsters too.
@@Temblizz I wonder who the monster was on this team.
Yeah it makes me feel like religion is just kinda worthless now because it seems like all these “religious people” are ruining everything
@@hoog3844 Racist? Race and Religion are two completely different things smh
"Church-going people..."
Going to church doesn't make you holy. Attending service doesn't mean anything if your actions are hypocritical.
Even the devil knows the scripture.

The taleban also goes to the mosque
Yeah that’s like going to 1 football camp and becoming the GOAT
As a church goer, I agree 👍🏻
2 years was far from enough for what Jane Doe will have to live with for her entire life. As a woman from Ohio...I have been embarrassed by Steubenville and those who slapped the hands of these boys.
Unfortunately a lot of people claiming to be victims in this matter and not one single word of compassion for the real victim.
Seems like the town is more worried about their collective image than the girl whose life is ruined. I'm sure they do want it to be out of the media, they have been caught with their ignorance and selfishness hanging out. They dont want to heal, they want to continue doing what they do. Which, in the words of the gray haired gentleman, would be to continue to let "things get out of hand". Sounds like the beginning of a Silent Hill story.
It looked like Resident Evil 4 village
And we live now in this evil generation..
Wanna know what else was hanging out.
Hopefully she will be alright
I think it was a hard situation for everyone. The kids had no control in what they did, and the adults of the town don’t want to ruin everyone’s lives. However, a crime was committed and there was no retribution. It’s a lose lose situation for everyone.
Do any of these people feel a grain of sympathy for the girl?
No, not at all, at least not the cop, or the ones trying to defend it. They're too busy focusing on their oh so important image, they didn't even consider her a life, she was just an inconvenience because if she hadn't lived there then this might not have happened, and if it hadn't happened then their reputation wouldn't have been scathed, they don't understand that their tarnished reputation is of their own doing, because they are the only ones, other than the rapists themselves, who had any choice in the matter, and they *chose* to sweep it under the rug. If they even so much as saw her as a person, they would have chosen the correct thing to do.
THE ANSWER IS 'NO' THEY DON'T.
Nope not for 1 second
Doubt it.
People ? I dont see any
I’m thankful for Anonymous! I heard of this on the news. It’s my first time seeing the video.
“But they’re not bad people” 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤡🤡🤡🤡
They say you should protect your daughters.
Just educate your sons.
Exactly I’m sick of people treating woman like they’re the target- just mind your own business and do something else with your life.
Exactly.
@@olivia-ey9lf that sound like your saying women shouldn’t be protected from these people
How about just say it as "Child" or "Children" since woman can do thing like that too vice versa
Do both educate and protect. Also it’s not just the sons doing bad things this is one situation there have been plenty of times girls have been in the wrong there has been plenty of times guys have been in the wrong. The point is anybody can do anything not just girls not just guys so you have to educate everyone
This country needs more vigilantes like anonymous to do what they did.
They need us

That’s wrong. Hacking is illegal for a reason, furthermore; vigilantes constantly get in the way of authorities.
The people defending sports team is sicker than the rapers
I was working in the area when this happened, this place is exactly what you think it is. just gross.
