Yes, the melody dates back to Houses of the Holy time but Robert's vocals were added in 1982 for CODA, however, if you listen to the riff, think back a little bit because it's also reminiscent of Hots On for Nowhere from Presence. In addition, I've heard at least one bootleg where Jimmy plays parts of the riff during the improvisational section of Dazed and Confused as well as occasionally during The Crunge before it had been recorded anywhere, so clearly this riff had been knocking about Jimmy's brain for a while. It's a driving, authoritative number that provides a great frame for Jimmy to unleash some hot guitar licks.
Two hidden gems are covers of Eddie Cochran songs live from Albert Hall in 1970-ish called C'mon Everybody and Something Else. Not on any album I'm aware of but probably on youtube somewhere.
Robert recorded the vocals in the 80s as I’m sure you can tell. Guitar overdubs in the 80s too. The only thing recorded in 1972 sessions for HOTH was the rhythm, riff
I seldom bought albums after the 70s, only second hand classic records I found or a couple I needed to replace. Never had this one. Banger though, basic Zep rocker; I agree with your evaluation as being the most disposable potential cut for 'Houses of the Holy'. Cheers 🍻 😊🤙🏼🎶🔥❤️🍁❤️✨️🕊
I like Coda. Even when it first came out being a Zep head. Later on songs were added that should of been on it originally. But people take it too serious. It was basically an album made up from songs that were leftovers or hadn't made it on an album yet. So with that in mind i think its pretty good. But my feelings were always it was for those of us who cant get enough of zep. Not soneone expecting this to be like a new studio album
Man this is for sure one of my favorite BONHAM performances!!! Listen to him in this song!! The guy was a beast
Yes he was a beast, I love hearing him beat them drums. They could have done this as another Bonham solo, best part of this song.
Love the DRUMS I like the whole album, thanks Biz
Great thorough review, Biz....!
Thank you

The Led Zep DVD from 2003 has them.

Correct
Hey Biz... Once you realize Plant wrote and recorded those lyrics AFTER Bonzo's death they take on a whole new meaning.
Led Head!

……I Can’t quit You ! Different version on this album. Faster pace and more raw with a live feel ! Sound is different as well.

Hearing these 4 songs, so far, off this album, I can understand why they left them out.
Drums really stand out on this track. Like this album a lot. That said, it's probably the weakest song on the album in my opinion...
Not every song by them is great...
