The background to Goku's final speech is crazy. We were waiting years between episodes, and that just... Hit me really hard. Right in the chest. It still does.
Android 17 and 18 were orphan human children, taken by doctor Gero and modified into androids, which means they do have souls and they were human once, the dragon can't grant the wish because it exceeds the power of the one who created him which in this case is Dende.
The story in the original material is fantastic, but TFS knew how beloved this part of the show was and really made something beautiful with this. They really gave it their all. It's been really fun watching this again along with you guys! Thanks for sticking with it all the way to the end 🙂🙂🙂
To answer Vera's question on why 18 got puked out. You have to remember that 17 and 18 were the only ones who got absorbed whole, swallowed by the tail. Everyone else was liquified as Cell drinks people through the needle tail. Also 18 was the last absorbed so she would be first out logically.
You are correct. After Cell blew up in the original he explained how his cells remembered his perfect form. Therefore he was able to regenerate into his perfect form. Zenkai boosts are attributed to Saiyans so Cell came back even stronger. His cells also learned how Goku used Instant Transmission during the explosion so he was able to use it to come back to Earth right after regeneration
The reason Cell spat up Android 18: Basically, Gohan's kick was so strong that it threw Cell's system off balance so much that the portion of his brain that keeps the androids locked down stopped working for a few seconds, and since Call had enlarged himself in his anger, he was big enough to cough up somethin human sized. Since 18 was the last to be absorbed, she came out first
Because 17 and 18 are _cyborgs,_ they ARE still people. Android 16 was an actual Android. So when they wished everyone back, that included 17 at where he was absorbed. He's just an artificially enhanced human, really.
Goku in the original Anime he is not dumb, they made him dumb here for comedic purposes but Goku in the original version he is as great caring dad and a great person (at least in the Japanese version)
10:50 First second time seeing his Ultra Saiyan form like Trunks had and well Gohan did say that Cells are boring and this IS a Cell 39:55 In the anime it was everybody in manga it was just Vegeta 56:44 Akira Toriyama originally wanted to pass the torch to Gohan but in interviews said that "I intended to put Gohan into the leading role. It didn’t work out. I felt that compared to Goku, he was ultimately not suited for the part."
About the "androids", 16 was an *android*, a fully mechanical robot in the form of a human, but 17 and 18 are *cyborgs*, humans enhanced with cybernetics. It was mentioned before that they were teens Gero kidnapped and experimented on. So they do have life and souls, which is why the wish revived 17. 16 sadly didn't, so he's gone forever. As for everyone helping Gohan, in the manga, it was only Vegeta, but the anime added everyone else helping without him (but with no effect) until Vegeta finally decided to join in. Personally, I feel like that kind of undermined Vegeta's moment. It was more powerful when he was the only one to act while everyone else stood by and watched. And it's extra special when you realise he went completely against everything he claimed Saiyans stand for: he not only joined someone else's fight, but even backstabbed the opponent.
Hey, Blanky here. Oh, that is interesting, I didn't know 17 and 18 have souls. Too bad 16 didn't have one.😢 Oh, so I do remember correctly that everybody jumps in to help with defeating Cell. But that is really nice from Team Four Star to do it as was original in the manga. That was really awesome. Thanks for explaining it to us. 🙂
As everyone pointed out, in the anime everyone attacked Cell to try and create an opening for Gohan. The thing ill point out here is that none of them were strong enough to make a difference. In fact, Cell was able to repeatedly knock the Earthlings and Piccolo away while holding his own against Gohan. Cell's defeat came once Vegeta shelved his pride, hopelessness and regret enough to cheap shot Cell for the win.
The official series seems to have actually picked up some stuff from Abridged. Making Android 16 a pure android in the image of Dr. Gero's dead son is a simple change. But it adds so much to the story and gives an understandable reason why Gero built multiple "androids" that could destroy the world. He had gone off the deep end and was blinded by revenge. He didn't care if the world was destroyed.
In the original, Yamcha just asked to revive everyone killed by Cell but King kai choose to stay dead to "keep company to goku in heaven". Dragon ball was indeed supposed to end here with Gohan taking the role of earth protector after goku's sacrifice, the editors did not really want that and more or less pressured Toriyama to continue the story.
17 and 18 were cyborgs, they started as human orphans who were experimented on, which i assume is partly why the dragon cant grant this wish, they already ARE humans, but removing thier bionic upgrades would render them dead (not counting the bombs ofc) as so much of them were modified. That said, the dragon should be able to do this given its supernatural feats... but w/e. This was info not directly explained in the series at this point, rather by manga extras, databooks, Q and A's to author, ect, but abridged actually referenced this earlier in the arc when Krillin and Trunks were exploring Dr gero's lab, and it revealed their original names which Toriyama gave in databook manga extras.
DB Super is interesting in that it has all the ridiculousness of power-ups pushed beyond anything seen before (just like DBZ), but they also have a lot of fun character moments baked in. I was surprised by how enjoyable it was, despite not having the same nostalgic pull that the rest of the series does for me. Toriyama can definitely be felt throughout! (Rest in peace)
Regarding Cell spitting out 18, the "androids" are not absorbed like normal people; they serve more like batteries for Cell, which is why he doesn't "drink" them. Gohan beat him so much that he eventually became too weak to maintain his perfect form, leading him to regurgitate his last android meal. The same could probably happen if he became too weak to maintain his semi-perfect form, but I doubt it was Gohan's reason for not killing Cell.
Y’all ever plan on watch og dragon ball one day. It’s only 30 eps longer than hunter x hunter and if u want to know about the backstories of the side characters it’s good to watch.
Android 17 died when cell exploded but when they made the wish to bring back everyone killed by cell on earth he came back. It was a bad wish because it excluded king kai bubbles and the cricket which werent from earth.
Androids 17 and 18 are cyborgs, not actual "androids". What this means is they were humans, and their bodies have been altered with robotics & technology. They mentioned this a few times in abridged, but they barely explain it at all in the original. I remember being pretty confused as a kid 😅
in the original anime they all attacked Cell but they didn't do anything. only Vegeta caused him to flinch. abridged is closer to the manga where only Vegeta attacks Cell.

King Kai: "That man is going to be the death of me."

I mean man that's a LOTTA words when the answer is really just "Gohan kicked Cell in the stomach so hard he puked"
No, Cell got punched so hard that he just puked out 18. Gohan had zero intention of saving them

By the way, I think watching TFS's "Bu Bits" is better *after* watching the Buu saga proper. The jokes will make much more sense!

watching them go through mental gymnastics as to why 18 got puked out was hard to watch 😂😂😂 he just got punched hard and puked. thats it
Goku's speech at the end is TFS talking to the fans.
"It IS goodbye. For now."
I would have been more surprised if you didn't cry. I always enjoyed how this abridged series takes me back to my childhood of watching the og series.
It's your turn to dominate.
according to Krillin's Owned Meter, they did it 38 times lmao. Truly a match made

Really good reaction. Like others mentioned in the Anime everyone helped but only Vegeta could make Cell flinch. In the manga only Vegeta attacked.

Yes in the original they all stepped up to keep hitting cell. They all hit him and kept him distracted while goku hyped up Gohan for the killing blow.
