I suspect that the director gives clues as to how it will end through the shaman's words. He often says something in every episode, who will die, etc., but no one pays attention to it
Loved your reaction! I think grandpa pressed the X in season 1 to stick to his principle that all the participants willingly chose to come back. If you remember the last conversation he had with Gihun on his deathbed, he says "I never forced anyone to play those games. You all came on your own free will".

C'est 30 secondes le temps hein, pas dix minutes, même si il s'était battu, trop de temps de perdu, il aurait fallu retourner vers sa mère, trouver une troisième personne, trouver une salle libre et y aller, évidemment pas de temps pour tout ça. Il n'y qu'à la fin de la scène, où oui, il n'est pas idiot, il rentre délibérément à la dernière seconde dans la salle avec les deux qui l'ont forcés initialement.
I think Young-Sik (the son) turned away for that split second because he was being pulled into the room. It was either that or walk into the door. I know it’s up for interpretation obviously but I don’t believe he was just giving up on his mother. He probably did think she died because she was just standing there while he was being dragged off. I think his remorse was for agreeing to continue playing and putting her in danger that way. The slow-mo distorts things but they had literal seconds before the door locked on them. I always thought the mother was being overly defensive when she didn’t need to be. She could have just told the truth. I think they saw what happened but In Ho was just manipulating her with his questions.
Young Sin absolutely did not abandon his mother, the two took his arm and detached him from his mother and dragged, unbalanced, two adult men against a young man with no fighting experience, add the stress in this situation of panic some people froze if he have fought they both will have die there was no time left.
Crypto and Sang-woo are not the same. Sang-woo knowingly put his mother's store at risk by gambling it. Although he DID save everyone by pushing the glassmaker (justified), he still killed. Crypto didn't intentionally scam people but gave bad advice and accidentally caused it. And he literally saved everyone in the room, even the characters agree with him (which was noticeably cut out). This is coming from someone who acknowledges Sang-woo is the most well-written character of season 1. Crypto is nothing like him
Cliffhangers are BRUTAL in this season! 😅
The creator and some actors of the series said that the third season will be more brutal and sadder, I'm already scared and anxious
