So here's my story relating to you guys. I met my wife the year DBZA premiered. We were 18 and were in a long-distance relationship. We had met on Gaiaonline. She came to visit me when we made it official. Episode 5 came out when she was visiting. She had no idea what DBZA was, so we binge watched the first 5 episodes several times while eating pizza. It was a great bonding experience for us. We've been watching this commentary together. We're 33 now (she turns 34 next month), and it's been a lot of fun re-watching a show that dominated our 20's. We got married in 2017 a little less than a month after episode 59 came out. We consider it a wedding gift. Thanks for the laughs.

To respond to Scott saying that DBZA perhaps won’t be remembered as a particularly noteworthy piece of art, I would say that there is a very strong argument for it being the best parody of all time.
Most definitely. People look to YTAS as the progenitor, but look to DBZA as the peak of the phenomena.
Not to mention that some people more readily remember lines from DBZA than they do from the source material they watched for ages. And the fact it has, indeed, been referenced elsewhere...

Since Kaiser couldn’t remember, it got brought up in the breakdown he did of episode 60; the My Way song was originally supposed to be a cover of “We’ll Meet Again” inspired by Gravity Falls’ Bill Cipher but it was changed due to it not fitting the character and due to Taka watching Sing on a plane and pitching “My Way” instead.

Dude, DBZA I would argue is a cultural icon. You guys kept the franchise alive when from nearly every official front it was dead silent.
It's one of the most quotable things in existence, and on top of that using those quotes, people recognize that and find each other and immediately form a bond and community. You brought, and continue to bring people together.

Yeah, I honestly feel like DBZA has had a way bigger impact on internet culture, and maybe even pop culture as a whole, than they give themselves credit for!
It really is one of the most quotable things in existence. Like, nearly on the same level as Spongebob. So many people recognize it and will have a laugh with you.
I would argue that any and all parodies and abridged series that came on during and that's will come after will hold dbza as the higest of bars of which to reach and , hopefully, surpass.
This is so insanely true. Even people who haven't *watched* any of DBZA know it exists and know quotes and tbh for people who dont even watch DBZA and/or dont even watch anime to know their 15 years of work and impact on the Dragonball community? Thats an incredible impact to have.

30:31 one of the reasons why I thought it was so amazing to see Vegeta hit Cell at this point is also because earlier he got angry at Trunks’ suggestion of fighting Cell together. It shows how devastated he is, how he is willing to put his pride aside. This is the reason why the Vegeta in Buu arc felt like a natural progression of his character to be including his restlessness after Goku’s death

Ngl, there’s something absolutely inspired about Cell, in his final moments, rather than breaking down or regretting his actions, singing a song about how he regrets absolutely nothing because he got to do everything, well, his way. Sure, he could have avoided all this by making better choices, but they were HIS choices to make, and that’s what mattered. Guess he really wasn’t so different from his siblings after all.
It's a very Ultimate shounen badass villain way to go. The most well known Official one is probably Raoh from Fist of the North star, which earned him a real life "funeral" of sorts.
This all to say, Abridged Cell is in some MIGHTY FINE company.

Rewatching this the day after Toriyama passed, and I’m once again struck by how beautiful this is. While a part of me would kill to have a season 4, I know in my heart this was the right place to cap off the series. Thank You TFS. And RIP Akira Toriyama.

The convention after this final episode aired I had the pleasure of attending, and I asked them if as part of Season 4 Popo would mention that he's a time-traveling Demon God. They said they wanted to make it canon, but weren't sure if they could fit it into the script yet.
I know this will get buried, but I want to say thank you all. I grew up with DBZA. I remember how huge it was to meet my friends after a new episode and all be quoting shit. How amazing it was to see the channel grow and do new things. I could recognize Lani, Kirran and Grant long before I could recognize any actors from normal movies by name, and seeing you all move on, it’s been an incredible ride.

It makes sense to look at many dubs as alternate timelines
Before I start this last one, are definitely want to express myself. I remember being an Amazon delivery driver at the peak of covid, summer of 2020 and going through the darkest time of life. Going through my worst breakup, her slandering me to my own people, and having someone I can consider a second mother pass away a month after. I remember being stuck in that Amazon delivery for what felt like an eternity. Imagine being stuck in a steel box being left to do nothing but constantly dwell on it for 10 hours out of the day everyday. If it wasn't music I was listening to, it was THIS. I would listen / watch DBZA and Hellsing Abridged while I I was working because it kept me laughing. Provided solace and joy when I couldn't feel any on my own. It got to the point where I can do a lot of the voices myself too and like the 3 of you and your own characters, quote your favorite lines along with the show. What you guys have done will stand the test of time. Thank you guys for the sense of humor I have now. I was in high school when you guys started and now I'm a 33-year-old man. In Monster Hunter with the auto shout outs, they are all abridged references 😂😂😂 I love you guys and thank you so much❤❤❤

Hearing all of you sing "My Way" together immediately brought back the goosebumps I felt at age 17 when this first aired. This show was not just massively influential on my sense of humor as a teenager, but also, weirdly enough, a source of comfort. I was so excited for these commentaries because I wanted to hear your insight throughout all of these. It was incredibly engaging all throughout. Even if no one reads this comment, I just wanted to put this out there. Thank you.

At a bridge, phone buzzes from a text from my mum and underneath it is a notification of a new episode, thought ‘watch it then do it’ it wouldn’t load on 3G so I power walked home to watch it, laughed so much when I got to watch it that I was too happy to even think about going back, that was about 7 years ago. "Might not have been alive"?? Man, I feel old now. I remember going over to my friend's house to watch season 1 since my parents didn't want us watching "weird internet videos" when I was a kid.
10:24 funny story about them being at anime expo. Myself and a friend of mine were supposed to go together but he couldn't make it. He asked me to get him a shirt from them so I waited Patiently in line to buy one from kaiser. I thought hey why not ask him to sign it and then ask Lani and taka sign it. Kaiser was super nice (although tired looking) and signed the shirt. I asked him if Lani and taka would be able to and he pointed at them, laughed and said "if given the chance they'll sign it and more." So I walked over there and waited. An idea hit me to get a picture with them after they signed the shirt. So as they were signing the shirt I held up my camera to take a selfie with them and my friend called. For some reason I looked at taka and said "it's my friend who couldn't come see you guys today". Without skipping a beat taka took my phone and started to talk to him as nappa with Lani talking to him as vegeta. It was the single greatest con moment I've ever been a part of and to this day still referenced between us. This happened at anime expo when you guys were just sellers and the next year you came back as guests. Long story short; love you guys and keep it up

The three of you singing "My Way" together almost brought me to tears. I had to say goodbye to DBZA once already, now I have to say goodbye again. Team Four Star has been such a huge part of my life since I was 16, I'm now 28 and still watch TFS almost every day.
I started watching this series all the way back in middle school. I’m 22 now and a college graduate, watching it end for a second time. I don’t know if anyone will see or care about this comment, but you guys, from DBZA, to the gaming channel, and everything in between, have meant the world to me, and have been foundational in shaping my humor. I still watch the old nuzlockes, and still love the stuff y’all put out. Thank you so much, Team Four Star. Now get back up, and eat your next horse!

RIP Akira! Toriyama-san Is looking down on you with immense pride. Thank you for inspiring others, and it's ok to be emotional.
What sticks out to me is that during the "VEGETA NO!" "VEGETA YES!", when Vegeta fires off that blast Cell actually braces for it. Dude wasn't quite sure if Vegeta being biblically pissed was actually gonna get him over the line or not.
Makes sense; when saiyajins get angry enough, things tend to get scary.
Vegeta did surprise him with speed of the final flash when cell first went perfect, makes sense he wouldnt take any chances after seeing gohan snap.
I mean a couple of years after this vegeta being absolutely furious allowed him to surpass the power of a SSJ3 as a SSJ2, that is actually an insane feat when you think about it
Honestly Kaiser's performance as Trunks with his dying "Help...Me", is so damn good. That delivery brought me to tears, because of how much is relying on Trunks and how that's his 'big reward' for coming back to save his future. It's so sad and so good!
Imagine if he wasn’t brought back… Future Bulma would have no way of knowing if the job was done ):

Bc as soon as Trunks goes back he just DISMANTLES 17 and 18 in his future, which caps off Trunks' arc nicely I feel.

Cell in this has always been a very musical character. He came into this show with a song, and went out with a song
Cell dying by singing "My Way" always gave me the impression that despite everything he at least died satisfied. Goku quit on him, and there's nothing fun about getting stomped by SSJ 2 Gohan. That final clash was completely even (in his mind Gohan being down an arm is still even, the guy is evil) and he only lost because of the tactical error of letting himself get distracted by Vegeta. Cell's "My Way" is his over dramatic equivalent of "GGs"
He never did get the chance to choke the life out of Tien Shinhan though.

Just a few episodes ago vegeta was adamant that a true saiyan warrior would never accept or offer help in a 1 on 1 fight and now vegeta puts aside his pride to help gohan, the son of his greatest rival. I love it
I am CONVINCED Lani has the BEST screams in ALL of English dub. you cannot convince me otherwise..
Lani is fantastic, but I promise you he will agree, nothing will ever top Bryan Drummond's, "You won't escape my wrath!"

Nothing will probably ever top the OG Sean Schemmel going even further beyond for SS3 or passing out in the booth for SS4, but Lani and really the entire DBZA cast hit some absolute God-tier deliveries in Season 3.

I think it’s really, really beautiful how Kaiser talks about his feelings and openly shows such strong emotions when talking about how this show made him feel and how wonderful it was for him to be able to put his entire soul into a project so passionately. Made me tear up myself in a few places just seeing that this wonderful man was brought to tears because he was so proud of what he accomplished.
I will admit, when Chichi threatened them all with a fate that even the dragon couldn't undo, I thought it was a set up for everyone to frantically try and help beat Cell because if he died, Chichi would hunt them through the after life like a Terminator
No lie. Seeing Android 16 in heaven at the end of the credits made me cry when this came out. Thank you all so much for making this series. Watching the saiyan saga abridged with my dad are some of my best memories with him from the years before he passed. This series means the world to me, and watching you commentate over it has been phenomenal. Truly, thank you all.
There was a point before episode 60 when I'd been considering going to a convention specifically to ask them to give Android 16 an afterlife.
I honestly started crying when you three started singing, so good, Im so glad our paths have crossed in our lifes even if just through a smartphone display 😢
You guys did something special. from the ultimate collab of abridgers to essentially upping the ante for what abridging could be, to making something that many would consider an equal (if seperate) experience from the canon show and manga.
you paved the way for countless other hilarious people inspire by your work to make fantastic things.
We have the snippets of Buu now, and in my heart I always wish for the day we get a full buu saga
but if it never happens i'll be happy
if anything, i'd love to see a show, with your own writing concept and humor in the mainstream
you all brought the best laughs in hard times, and made us cry through a new lense with the show we grew up with.

I've always loved Cell's face as he's disintegrating matching up with the final "Myyyyyyyyyy waaaaaaayyyyy!" Absolutely immaculate work. It must have been a little difficult to get that to happen, but it, like Cell, was perfect.
I now REALLY want to go up to Taka or Scott at a convention, ask if they remember me, watch them panic, and then when they say no, I can respond with “good. We’ve never met.”

My favorite part of the Dramatic Finish is I forget it's coming every time and it always makes me laugh.
I don't remember for sure, but I think I called it happening or at least, like Lani, said it would be appropriate then it happened.

For me it's the opposite. I could never forget it's there, but the anticipation waiting for it, followed by utter satisfaction (personally I think the whole scene ends perfectly)

To be completely honest: yamcha's phrasing of the wish never occurred to me until you guys pointed it out, it was REALLY subtle
In Yamcha's defense, he probably didn't know Goku IT'd to King Kai's planet.

my personal fan theory is Yamcha was trying to loophole it so Goku was back on earth and revived with one wish. Instead of revived and than wished back to Earth.
I will never forget being part of a crowd of hundreds, where everyone was chanting "Satan, Satan, Satan" All together. Any christians in that hotel were certainly having rough dreams that night!
One of the best moments of my life, and I will always treasure how absurd that experience was.
