Hi Aliena! I was so impressed to find this video. I remembered you filming yourself while waiting for a reply from Google about your application, back in 2021. It's when I started my UX journey too. I'd be very happy if you make a video on the e-mail techniques.
Aliena, thank you so much. The details in the video really touched me. Your perspective on life, your self-awareness, your sincerity, and your efforts to become a better person - all of it is incredibly valuable. I want to sincerely thank you for the life and career advice you shared. I truly hope I get the chance to meet you one day! :)
WOW, thank you so much for this comment. You made my day 🥹 You shall keep leaving comment like this to other creators too. The world needs your energy ✨
As always, super useful content for a career changer (Retail to Design), thanks for sharing this with us and YES, cold email and networking tips would be great 😎
I'm already making the cold email video. Hopefully I can get it done in a month. Don't forget to turn on notification from my channel so you don't miss it.
Thank you so much for your advice especially the lessons on dream job vs. dream life and not being attached to a job call but instead working on yourself first and let opportunities come to you!! I would love to see a video about cold emailing
Gotcha! I'm already making the cold email video. Hopefully I can get it done in a month. Don't forget to turn on notification from my channel so you don't miss it.
You provided lots of thoughtful and smart advice, here. Thanks, I think it will be very useful to lots of people. And maybe I'll try to use two mices, as I can do lots of things from either hands. Thanks again for the video and have yourself a very nice day, Aliena.
Thank you for sharing! I would love to hear more about your networking advice, I get super introverted when approaching hirinhg managers at job fairs and have seen that there are other people who are highly confident about it.
Thank you for making this video. I can relate to many of the tips you discussed, but I struggle with networking skills. Could you please make a video on networking tips? If possible, could you also cover how to connect with local designers and what questions I could ask during the first meeting?
Gmail Management. What a great video Aliena! I think your greatest skill is definitely business and people oriented IMO. Always great content. Love seeing your “abuela” in the videos and glad your partner is collecting 80%. You also mentioned “starting a family” is this what I think it is!? 😅
please im late to the party. i always had a problem on reaching the "right" people when i want to send a cold email. i would love if you could create a video and tips on how to write cold email. is that true cold email isn't about us but them. and for sure, i will buy the book u recommend.
Well, unless they ask you to design a tangible product that will be mass manufactured, then good luck sticking with a Product Designer title… UX designers are actually Digital UX designers. Global User Experience and Client Experience are usually done by product/industrial designers. In companies, people can decide to rename their titles the way they want, but as soon as this transpires to outside their company, be prepared for some unpleasant surprises, as reality kicks in. But I understand your point, as many people don't know what UX or D.UX is. You should better educate your management, rather than use a job title which does not fit your profile. Why not using Digital Designer? or (and I don't like it at all, as a real product/industrial designer myself) Digital Product Designer. D.UX is important and valuable, for sure. But apps/website/software are not products, they are not produced, manufactured. They are designed, coded, compiled and uploaded/downloaded, but never produced. Using the right words usually helps to understand each other, especially when managers don't understand technical terms (UI, UX, CX and more).
That's a very interesting perspective! What I observe from Big Tech company is that we tend to prefer calling UX designers "product designers" these days as they are considering the Facebook platform, Gmail, etc. as products. But since these titles are usually decided by the companies, I learned to be flexible around it 😅
@@AlienaCai If they wanted to make progress, they should start by using the right terminology. UX Design is not a subpar field of design, it is a field in itself and should be recognized as is. If UX Designers tend to prefer calling themselves Product Designers, there is definitely a problem in the ways companies are considering UX Designer, or worse, what they sell. Most tech companies don't sell products, but apps or ecosystems. And that is fine. Why trying to complicate things or oversell everything to the point were jobs and even what companies are actually offering are more and more disconnected from reality? For A.I, I understand, using the right terminology (Algorithm) is not helping to raise funds, but that's what it is. Nobody has an A.I yet, with genuine intelligence and self consciousness. This is all marketing. But even jobs, that's lame and not respectful for both expertises (product designers & UX Designers), which are fundamentally different jobs and being both very valuable ones. A bit of education would help from the designers, but if companies and managers don't want to listen, just let them disrespect both fields. It's a pity, but that's life.
Ahaha love your energy! I'm already making the cold email video. Hopefully I can get it done in a month. Don't forget to turn on notification from my channel so you don't miss it. Usually when I don't talk UX the algorithm just doesn't push it anymore lol.
