honestly in my head the two were an item at some point after they both appeared on tkor together and some time after that cally looked like she gained some weight due to pregnancy....

After a couple years of seeing Nate almost always playing the straight man to Calli's frenetic energy, it was so wonderful seeing the look of, "Why is this person next to me completely insane?" in Calli's eyes.

that may take some time, considering the size of the current channel, much smaller viewer ship rn, im sure the fact there was a sponsor is what helped make this video possible, cuz they do both probably still have regular jobs again for the time being because i doubt they get enough viewers yet to be able to manage the channel as their primary job.
AGREED! The videos including Callie are better (no offense Nate) than those without her. They're good, sometimes even great, but, when she's in the videos I feel like eating Frosted Flakes with a tiger.

@@TheMatthooks Ever since Grant Thompson died, was the beginning of the rapid demise of The King Of Random. Then they changed the name to TKOR. Then they started advertising too much, like the "Can You Make a Hoverboard With Ferrofluid?" episode where every 3 seconds they were promoting the Lenovo Yoga laptop and was excessively annoying! Then they kicked Calli off, and then a bit later they kicked Nate and Mark off. Then they just filled their positions in with more famous TH-camrs. By that point, I just left them. I realized what happened. They became a heartless corporation, that just wanted to make money off of views. This TH-cam Channel (Nate from the Internet) is the successor to "The King Of Random".
@@blenderbachcgi I'm trying to be positive about it. Creators change. Sometimes a person no longer fits the brief, so they need to change the staff. That's the prerogative of the person who's paying the wage bill.
I don't think TKOR really fits what Grant originally built any more. It sometimes feels over produced without the easy charm of the videos made while he was around. Again, that's OK. His family have a vision for what they want from the channel.
I'm just hugely glad to see these two together again making videos. The rest is just unneeded negativity.

It's a matter of the channel going from a fun place for learning and having fun, to a corporate advertising cesspool, just meant to make throwaway videos that will be watched one time, and then forgotten, while they make a quick buck. I have seen channels, where people left and new ones came in. One of these channels is Vat19. However, they kept it like the original. TKOR is no longer what it used to be. I tried looking at it from a positive point of view, but I don't see any positives. I see a money making corporation with 0 consideration of its viewers.

Yes, ofc it is about money, but at the end of the day they need to make money to keep the thing running and pay their employees.
In his video Nate mentioned how their views dropped and how they experimented to stop that trend.
This is just the end result of that process.
That does not mean I agree with their decisions or that I like what the channel has become, just saying they probably genuinely did and do their best (and still fail I guess...but I am glad I am not in their position and have to make the decisions)
The quality of these videos are really improving exponentially! Can’t wait to see where you’re at in a year or so, I couldn’t imagine you not having 1m by then.

I mean I'm not sure you could describe it as exponential, but he's definitely being to get into his stride. Reminds me of the good old days of tkor. But hopefully with new ideas they can go further and higher.
If they bring out videos more often like a couple a week or just once a week then yh 1 million should be a breeze but at this rate I'd say maybe 500k. Also TKOR science type videos would boost there popularity as that's what people that watched TKOR was there for if they do those same videos then easy views

You can tell they've been friends for years, the "silly chemistry" is undeniable. It's not shocking that cupcakes made with expensive vs cheap ingredients aren't that much different at all. I'm still surprised at the expensive egg container too, you're really paying for that packaging! I hope Hades wasn't too crazy once he was unleashed, he's such a cute puppy!

Next time you do this, you can have someone put the ingredients in unmarked containers for each, so the chef (that's you) doesn't even know till the end. (You could even try to guess each along the way by the texture/feel/smell of things)

I love how you can both be yourselves and have a fun sibling like relationship. I’m very interested how cheap vs expensive homemade chicken noodle soup would turn out. Does expensive herbs, cube bullion broth vs expensive packaged broth, chicken, and noodle products make a difference? Please add this idea to your episode list.
I think doing a crab bisque would be interesting. So like the cheap one would get canned crab and the expensive one would get like some nice fresh crab.
From my experience the broth and noodles do make a difference, the noodles having a different texture, I'd say if you make chicken noodle soup, don't cheap out on the noodles in particular, in the case of the broth it's better to try and se what you like because most of the time it's a metter of personal taste

After Grant sadly passed away. Nate and Cali made it so enjoyable to watch TKOR. I watched every video up until they got let go. So nice to be able to watch you 2 again. ☺️ And agreed that Cali has always been stunning.

I'm loving the fact you and Callie both own your own channels. The freedom and money that comes with owning your own business will be well worth it in the end. I started an IT company after getting let go during the beginning of Covid and it was scary starting something new. I'm grateful it turned out well, but it was definitely a scary time in my life. I can only imagine the feeling of starting something new while also being in the public eye. Congrats to both of you and to future success.

The fact that they couldn’t taste a difference in the cupcakes themselves all boils down to the fact that Nate used the same water in both batters. Try it again but use fancy water in the expensive mix and see if it makes a difference!

Baking is such a trip to me. I always think it needs to be incredibly precise for things to come out correct, but real bakers are like "Oh, yeah. Just throw in a shoes worth of cottage cheese, a crushed up aspirin, and a can of Sprite if you're out of butter." And it comes out tasting better!

I love the energy Nate and Calli have together. This series is great. May I suggest bread. It’s a simple staple for some people and you could get two videos from it by doing gluten based bread and gluten-free bread. Also brownies.

When I was a kid I made cinnamon rolls with my mom and she let me make the icing. A basic milk and powder sugar mix... unfortunately she didn't tell me the ratio and by the time we added enough powder sugar to make it right we would have needed to make a TON of cinnamon rolls to use it all LOL

Love the video concept and content. The dynamic between you guys is always a fun watch! Personally, I find the frequent text pop-ups and cut zooms a little distracting, but have no problem with you finding a style. I also noticed that your "A" camera seems to have recorded at significantly lower frame rate. Makes those clips a bit jittery, particularly when cut next to the normal static B cam.

Can you make a version two of this series that involves checking the quality of ingredients instead of cost? You can be cost effective (such as by buying bulk for things that can last a week or more in the fridge), but you could also just be wasting money by buying expensive garbage.
Difference in taste between organic and not organic.
Difference in taste between real and artificial (flavors, meats, etc.)
Difference in taste between beef tallow and duck fat.
Difference in taste between grilled and baked; pan-fry vs. air fryer.
etc.
Just as an editorial note: unless there is accompanying voiceover for the written script, a sight-impaired viewer might miss a fair bit of information that shows up on the screen with the sound of blops and dings. It’s one thing if an image or video has it’s own correlated sound but I just want to make sure as many people are included on this wonderful experience as possible.

This series is teaching me that we're all broke and it's why we have a similar palate. It would be cool though to try this with people that grew up in different socioeconomic levels. Do the rich kids have the same taste buds as us broke folks lol? What about race/culture, are they used to other brands or cooking methods for the same dishes so it cheap vs expensive has different results for them?
I think it is more that the expensive stuff is just way overpriced
I tend to go with mid range brands. Or a Mix of price ranges on the ingredients. Like Domino sugar, but, store brand eggs.

The series of expensive vrs cheap is great but is there any maker kind of content such as a knife off where you both build your knife version and compare at the end? It makes a huge difference if the liquid is measured in liquid measurements and not dry measuring cups.
Let’s see something tough that can absolutely go wrong. Make souffle! I’m not sure if the ingredients will weigh in much on the flavour (save for cheeses or chocolates) however, i think it’d be interesting to see if there’s a difference in how/if they rise, or if they deflate faster or something

Maybe you guys could do more of these comparisons to see if just because an item is a higher price it will be better then the cheaper. This doesn't have to be restricted to food. Just random Ideas that popped in my head while typing this : high vs low price gas, gas vs. Electric car, dslr digital camera vs digital camera, or a water filter example : pur water filter that's attached to your sink vs. bottled water. Just Ideas that came to mind. Keep up the good work.

Was there a difference in ingredients on the cheap powdered sugar vs the expensive powdered sugar? I'm curious what caused the difference in taste!
Cheap powdered sugar sometimes contains cornstarch to prevent it from binding together and becoming hard.
So it might be that which changed the flavour
Fancy vanilla is probably actual vanilla extract, VS the (cheaper, much more common) imitation
