My yips appeared out of the blue about four months ago. Absolute torture as they got progressively worse. I tried everything with different grips, looking at the hole, closing eyes etc.etc. nothing worked (apart from buying a LH putter), until I stumbled upon this video. Finally some plausible insights and an effective "treatment": focussing hard on on holding the follow through position on every putt has made a huge improvement. It does take some concentration. I also picked up another tip: holing 100 putts from 15" on practice green. Sounds stupid but I guess it helps to reprogramme the brain somehow to see the ball go into the hole so consistently.

omg i had no idea what i was suffering was called a "yip". Thought it was just me with weird involuntary spasms which have come and gone and I've struggled with and tried so many ways to get rid of for some time now. You hit the nail on the head with this video tho, thanks so much! Practising with just my right (yip) hand and concentrating on that finish has made all the difference. Now once I use both hands it's so much steadier! That finish is def the key. Can't wait till this becomes second nature to me as I keep practising it. Thanks again!

I have that spasm. I can practice and hit awesome putts, but in a game, i just can't swing , I can't take it back and move forward with any rythm whatsoever.
6 three putts , 2 four putts today.
It's the spasm , just can't manage what I can do while practicing.
I am currently playing the cross grip, i have tried standing tall , standing lower, griping down or griping up. Lose grips and tight grip. 1:3 , 3:1 stroke.
    Gonna try this....

I have the padding yups, and I did your first suggestion. Someone told me I have the yips and they said left-hand low pull through. I did it, and it worked like a charm. Thank you.

Some good things to work on. A long time yipper. They first appeared with conventional grip and now has shown up in saw grip.
After watching the video, I already know #1 is right hand. Now on to the next steps. Thanks

The claw gripped solved my first bout of them. That sadly now doesn't work, gone twitchy again. So I'm now carrying two putters, dropped by 4 iron. Left handed putter for the mid-long range (I play lefty). Right handed putter for tap ins. It's bizarre and raises a few eyebrows. But it works. Wish there was another way though :-/

Hey, what works for you! Notah Begay won in tour putting right and left handed. His putter was double-faced.

Great video - focus on the finish rather than hitting the ball seems to have done the trick. What a relief - happy emoji goes here!

Just discovered after practicing one handed it’s my LEFT handed screwing things up on my right handed putting.😳
Very, VERY light application of left hand on putter has helped immensely

A Really interesting video Glen. Thankfully, I don't suffer from the putting yips but have played with someone who has. Very debilitating.
    Cheers

Glen your timing is spot on! I’ve had the yips for a few weeks now and it’s ruining my scorecard. You’ve given me a few good tips here. Great video, much appreciated! Cheers, Steve
