    Let me say that from just watching this, you are one competent and organized educator. Congratulations, I'm sure people value and respect the preparations you put into this. I recognize people that think ahead and you really think things out. I'm sure your students love you.

    Question: Do you think I could use an embroidery hoop to keep a section taut while painting a long shirt? Can I use one without stretching my shirt out of shape?

    I'm in love with this! I'm planning a 6'x45' canvas mural in my backyard to cover my neighbors hideous green plastic fence. This is a big experiment, my first time working with fabric like this. Heat setting will essentially make it permanent, right? So it can be left out in the weather?

    Hi there! I noticed you used wax paper when using your iron to heat set @ 10:45. Can you tell me what is being achieved with this method and why you used it in this case?
    Thanks for making and sharing this cool tutorial!

    Please explain about fabric being pinned to a frame. Can you put fabric on table and paint? what kind of frame was the fabric pinned to? Thanks..enjoyed

    • @ThePaintSpotEdmonton
      @ThePaintSpotEdmonton  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      diane collins It is best to elevate the fabric otherwise the paint will run along the table in puddles. Dye Na Flow works really well on synthetic polyesters for a budget sensitive classroom but cottons, rayon and silk work well too.

      diane collins This is a wood frame. 1x2" finger-jointed pine. I have also seen artists use PVC pipes, string and safety pins.

    If I use this on polyester and 5% spandex do I tape it down to a hollow wooded frame

    Hi there, Did you use No Flo to keep the dyes from spreading into each other? Thank you, Juliana

    • @ThePaintSpotEdmonton
      @ThePaintSpotEdmonton  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      We did not use No Flow for this project. The colour flowed freely and created natural soft edges and blends. Most of the project was done wet on wet. We discovered dry painted fabric held line and details very well without the need for No Flow.

    Great video! Just a few questions... what fabric did you use? and when you ironed it to fix the colours were they still nice and vibrant? Did you use water to dilute the paints or to help them blend? Thankyou.

    • @ThePaintSpotEdmonton
      @ThePaintSpotEdmonton  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +t-riz We used 100% polyester for this giant banner. Dye Na Flow loves synthetic fabric. We added water to help flow. Yes colours are just as bright after ironing.

    can I steam dynaflow paints or is it like a dye? I see that jean batiste also uses this

      +Poupon Crazy Cat Dye Na Flow is a acrylic. Any heat will do, nothing fancy like steam setting.

    Which types of cloth do you use?

    • @ThePaintSpotEdmonton
      @ThePaintSpotEdmonton  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dye Na Flow works on both natural and synthetic fibres. For this school project I purchased a very affordable polyester. I have washed it twice and it has hung for three months in the south-facing sunny window of our art supply store. There has been no fading.
