I have a big project coming up and wasn't sure how to get a nice clean effect without using stencils. This is perfect for what I need, thanks for sharing😃😃😃
with resists you can use any acrylic paint just make sure this paints dry for at least no less than 2 weeks before you set your dye onto the fabric, you can wash and steam it too.
Poupon Crazy Cat Acrylics are thicker paints. They work well for heavy cottons and denim. If not diluted well with water and fabric medium, they may be thick, stiff and sometimes scratchy on delicate fabrics like rayon and light cottons. They do not flex for spandex. Fabric paints are designed to be softer to the touch and more flexible than regular acrylics. Polyester is tricky, Acrylics won’t heat-set well to plastic filaments. Dye Na Flow or Setacolour is the best.
Hi @thepaintspot Do the pbo waterbase gutta require ironing before starting the painting and do you iron on the front or reverse side also do you iron directly on the silk and on what setting?
Hello, after applying the gutta it's necessary to iron it frist and then fill the silk colors? Because I use pebeo golden gutta for outline and when it dry I fill the pebeo seta silk colors but it spreads out of gutta line. Why ? Please reply 🙏
Hi dear. If i want black outline to be stay on fabric after steamed and washed. So which black gutta stay permanent on the fabric? Which brand. Please please help me 🙏
When using the black water based Pebeo gutta, do you like to have the resist sit on the surface and let dry before painting? Then after painting with Setasilk, and heat setting with a iron, how do you wash out the resist and maintain the black lines? Thanks
All the guttas demonstrated will work well. I will generally pick the water-based resist as it washes out completely and leaves no trace on the fabric. I found the Black Gutta from Jacquard made the finest line and the colour was dramatic. Made sure your fabric is stretched tight and keep it elevated off the table surface.
This is a great video. Thanks! When you say the "Tactile feel" of the gutta are you referring to the raised feeling? Does the metallic or the color of the solvent based gutta stay in silk after dry cleaning or will it go back to the white of the silk it was applied to?
Lovely! Do you prefer the syringe to squeeze bottles with metal tips? And this might be a dumb question, but your silk doesn't look wet. Are both the resists and the paints added to dry or wet silk?
Hello, does both Water based resist by Jacquard and Jacquard gutta needs to be dry cleaned? or only the water based resist one? I would like a product that will fade off after finishing the process.
Poulami Mishra Hello, You can see the brand PEBEO quite clearly. Pebeo Gutta Resist. The products with a ‘J’ on them are Jacquard Gutta and Jacquard Water-base Resist. I will be more clear with pronunciation next time, both are tricky. Thank you for watching.
Yes, you can also choose silk chiffon, silk georgette, silk satin, silk taffeta and silk twill. It is recommended to practice on a few bits of fabric before jumping into the full project. Get to know how the gutta will sit or sink into the fabric; it will help you decide on the thickness of lines. Test colours. Fabric paints always dry lighter; you will gain confidence in colour manipulations too.
D Sen It is Silk DYES that need to be steam set. In this video, we showed fabric paints. Ironing will cook them into the fabric. There is no change in colour.
I need HELP ! I am about to paint neoprene fabric (1.5mm) with Jaquard dye na flow, I need there to be an invisible line to separate my colors and keep it from bleeding. What should I use ? This is a fabric for the pool, so I need it to be resistant also. It will be painted with Jaquard acrylics .
+Mélusine Mermaid of the Rivers Jacquard makes both Clear Gutta and Clear Water-based Resist. I prefer the water-based resist it is less smelly and will wash completely out of the fabric. We carry it in large 8 oz containers for about $14.
I love the image of the cats

Hi, Thanks for the video, it was very helpful, just a question. Which of the guttas are best for mixed fabrics like cotton/polyster?

Are the colors equally vibrant when used with a water based resist. I have heard that you need to steam to make teh colors really brighten up
