Oh, I missed this one before you went to the market! Love that jumper- a perfect touch to start off your Vlogmas. So, what I'm doing is hats. 2 more rows before I begin to close the crown on hat #5. One more to go. A guy named "Drowning in Yarn" did a very simple tutorial on how to knit 'lice' into a work and so 2 of the hats have those. I must say, I"m quite pleased with them. Perhaps I'll make one for myself after the holidays. There are stripes, a fade, 2 with lice and the black with rainbow stripes that end up sideways on the crown. All knitted. I may try to learn crochet after the holidays but after I finish this one today, I'll begin my last one. I see mistakes in all of them but 'say yes, don't stress' got me past worrying. They look nice, will not fall apart and the mistakes will likely only be seen by other knitters or perhaps engineers! LOL Don't forget your christmas cakes - I'd love to know how they are coming and if your oven is now working. Best wishes on what is now your Saturday evening. What a jolly start to advent! 🎅 😁 I’d forgotten about that awesome jumper 🤩🦌 I live in hope I’ll see one in the charity shop one day… I have the UK spinners advent, 10g of fluff to spin each day, and to follow that, 12 days of christmas 10g minis from mothy and the squid. No idea what I’ll make with them. I’m currently weaving panels in each rainbow colour from several years of advents and scraps, so maybe I’ll just save them up again. I also have a skein of vintage shinies yarn from greenlambkin for some fab christmas tree 🎄 socks-hope to cast those on later today. Off out now to an artisan craft fair where corner of craft Hannah’s hubby is with his bakery 😋😋😋

I'm not a crocheter and ive never seen the toft advent before so I'm excited to watch your unboxing and progress. I thoroughly enjoyed your shawlography updates. I've purchased the advent socks again by the cozy knitter. Every day from the 1st to the 24th you knit a new stripe on each sock with the idea being that you have a pair of Christmas socks to wear on the 25th. So far I've always been able to keep up and sport my stripey advent socks on Christmas morning 😎. It's a bit of festive fun that has become a knitting tradition for me😁

Hi Martyn, I am looking forward to your advent videos although I don‘t crochet. The jewels and the „fragile“ sticker on the box made me think of Christmas tree ornaments - those sequinned, glittering birds with long colourful feathers. Speaking of sequins, I want your Christmas jumper 😀 Love it! I also think it was probably the right decision not to come over here, although Hamburg is a really great place to visit. In my home town the Christmas markets have not been cancelled, and I have already been there and had some Glühwein with friends, but what with this new variant from South Africa I think it‘s sadly only a matter of time before they will decide to close them down. But there‘s always next year…

Yeah I really feared your trip won't be going well and it's really the better decision, esp. now with additional uncertanity all over the place (variant etc)... plus I guess Germany will have the next lockdown shortly, they were just behind us in numbers and we are already well into one.. sigh. But anyway - glad you could adjust your plans and stay safe and celebrate vlogmas! Yes, that box is super intriguing and something to use afterwards, so quite sustainable packaing as well. I was also surprised to not find some balls of yarn in there (had to open all the drawers haha). That will be interesting. But it does mean theres lots of "ends", right? Though it's a bit different with crochet esp. with 3D projects cause you can just hide them a use them as additional stuffing. Exciting! I also got myself a knitting advent too - and don't forget the mystery box from Paris! Have you heard anything, are the packages on the way?

I’m soo glad your not going to Hamburg. My sister and her family live in Belgium. All Christmas markets there have been cancelled. It looks bad “C” wise in Europe. I normally do Christmas for all of us but last year they couldn’t come and it will be the same this year. (My sister and niece were home 2 weeks ago to see mum and travelling was a nightmare for them and it was lucky they came when they did as it looks like they may go into lockdown again). Llewellyn is adorable 🥰 and i look forward to seeing what you make this year. I do struggle with small amigurumi Piece as i have arthritis. I can knit on small needles but small hocks i struggle to hold 😖. But strangely i can hold bigger hooks but find big needles difficult 😫. Oh the joys of getting older 🙈. Love the jumper. 😍. Its a C-desaster at the moment and the people have been so stupid not having a vaccination. I'm a doctor in a hospital and the situation is very bad. Yay crochet!!! I was finishing up my Shawlography during Thanksgiving (I'm finally on the border) but my pinkies were hurting ha ha! So I picked up my crochet cardigan. While I love knitting, I was a crocheter first and it brings me such happiness and peace when I pick up that hook and yarn. I am excited to learn more about the Toft CAL. I may just be tempted to participate!
Don't crochet don't like it started out crocheting when I was five once I learn how to knit the crochet hook was only used to help me out with netting but I'm so excited to see what you're going to make can't wait love you love you love you and your baby doll boyfriend who he seems so sweet👍❤️💕💕💕💕💕💕😃🙃🙂

Hi Martyn! I’m not a crocheter but, I did watch along with you last year for your Toft MAL and I am looking forward to following along this advent. :) I have never had a advent for knitting. I’m usually busy trying to knit EVERYTHING before Christmas as gifts. I’ve even finished things on Christmas Day and Boxing Day and New Years Eve. So sad. Haha. This year I’ve decided that there will be NONE of that and I’m knitting a pair of socks using the Christmas Colourway for 2021 by West Yorkshire Spinners. So much more relaxing than other years! :)) Merry Christmas Martyn!

Oh if I was doing the bird Martyn I would love it to be a Peacock - they are so regal. And with amazing colourful feathers of the tail I would put jewels at the end for the little circles. Hey hey we've just came back from Germany, smart to not go, everything got more and more restricted and a lot was cancelled or really small. Now its 2g+ and tests every 72 hours. Not doing any advent knitting but making a sparkly slumber shawl from Westknits and joining in the hiberknitalong after christmas ☺ managed to grab a kit from Stephen & Penelope so my husband would have the perfect christmas present for me 😜

I think I need your sweater! I was sorry to hear that you won't be going to Hamburg, but understand why. No need to risk getting stuck in Germany. I am not a crocheter, but I actually bought a Toft kit to make one of the beginner animals -- after the holidays. I'm currently finishing 3 Christmas gifts -- and just got a 4th kit to make my husband a gift (although at the rate I'm going he may be getting ball of yarn and a copy of the pattern....)

I am looking forward to your advent videos although I don‘t crochet. The jewels and the „fragile“ sticker on the box made me think of Christmas tree ornaments - those sequinned, glittering birds with long colourful feathers.

I also think it was probably the right decision not to come over here, although Hamburg is a really great place to visit. In my home town the Christmas markets have not been cancelled, and I have already been there and had some Glühwein with friends, but what with this new variant from South Africa I think it‘s sadly only a matter of time before they will decide to close them down. But there‘s always next year…

Yeah I really feared your trip won't be going well and it's really the better decision, esp. now with additional uncertanity all over the place (variant etc)... plus I guess Germany will have the next lockdown shortly, they were just behind us in numbers and we are already well into one.. sigh.

Yes, that box is super intriguing and something to use afterwards, so quite sustainable packaing as well.
I was also surprised to not find some balls of yarn in there (had to open all the drawers haha). That will be interesting. But it does mean theres lots of "ends", right? Though it's a bit different with crochet esp. with 3D projects cause you can just hide them a use them as additional stuffing.

Hi Marryn, it felt a bit of an indulgence when I purchased the Advent but I'm finding it's lovely to sit quietly, just a short space in the day, and crotchet each clue, and the keepsake box is delightful, oh and the yarn!!

I’m soo glad your not going to Hamburg. My sister and her family live in Belgium. All Christmas markets there have been cancelled. It looks bad “C” wise in Europe.
I normally do Christmas for all of us but last year they couldn’t come and it will be the same this year. (My sister and niece were home 2 weeks ago to see mum and travelling was a nightmare for them and it was lucky they came when they did as it looks like they may go into lockdown again).

Piece as i have arthritis. I can knit on small needles but small hocks i struggle to hold 😖. But strangely i can hold bigger hooks but find big needles difficult 😫. Oh the joys of getting older 🙈.

Hi Martyn, time to wear the reindeer-sweater! I have one too and I love advent so much.I'm looking forward to see whats in the box. I think it was a very good decision not to come to Germany. Its a C-desaster at the moment and the people have been so stupid not having a vaccination. I'm a doctor in a hospital and the situation is very bad. But whats about my knitting: I'm doing a cardigan called big love from ankestrick and it is gorgeous. Have a look at ravelry, perhaps it would please you too. Have a good time and stay healthy!
Yay crochet!!! I was finishing up my Shawlography during Thanksgiving (I'm finally on the border) but my pinkies were hurting ha ha! So I picked up my crochet cardigan. While I love knitting, I was a crocheter first and it brings me such happiness and peace when I pick up that hook and yarn. I am excited to learn more about the Toft CAL. I may just be tempted to participate!
Don't crochet don't like it started out crocheting when I was five once I learn how to knit the crochet hook was only used to help me out with netting but I'm so excited to see what you're going to make can't wait love you love you love you and your baby doll boyfriend who he seems so sweet👍❤️💕💕💕💕💕💕😃🙃🙂

I have never had a advent for knitting. I’m usually busy trying to knit EVERYTHING before Christmas as gifts. I’ve even finished things on Christmas Day and Boxing Day and New Years Eve. So sad. Haha.
This year I’ve decided that there will be NONE of that and I’m knitting a pair of socks using the Christmas Colourway for 2021 by West Yorkshire Spinners. So much more relaxing than other years! :)) Merry Christmas Martyn!
Inspired me to learn colour work so I can do baubles for next Christmas. Going to finally crack amigurumi too - got my toft advent calendar ready to go. Exciting!
Oh if I was doing the bird Martyn I would love it to be a Peacock - they are so regal. And with amazing colourful feathers of the tail I would put jewels at the end for the little circles. How disappointing about Hamburg, reckon you made the correct choice though - but no doubt you will all have a wonderful time in Winchester - enjoy :-)

Hey hey we've just came back from Germany, smart to not go, everything got more and more restricted and a lot was cancelled or really small. Now its 2g+ and tests every 72 hours.
Not doing any advent knitting but making a sparkly slumber shawl from Westknits and joining in the hiberknitalong after christmas ☺ managed to grab a kit from Stephen & Penelope so my husband would have the perfect christmas present for me 😜
That sweater is EPIC! Looking forward to sharing vlogmas with you. I’m trying to get a color work ski sweater for my niece finished, though I won’t mail it out until early January. No sense putting in all that work and have it get lost in the holiday post madness.

Martin, I am knitting on a couple of work socks for a client of mine, plus I have a few bits & bobs to finish up, but I like the idea of a Christmas cast-on, will have to have a think about that! I don't have as many WIP's as you have! Lol

Sadly no advent projects for me. I'm on a sock mission for Christmas gifts of course I'm behind on where I should be. Then sadly my dad passed away so I'm even further behind. Now that my Slipstravaganza is done (yay!!) I'm working on finishing some other WIPS; one a Christmas gift, 1 a Knit Collage KAL sweater for me, and a half-finished Casapinka cowl from a year ago. I'll also be purchasing the Casapinka PINIONS KAL just to follow along in the fun & will knit later...maybe/probably!

I think I need your sweater! I was sorry to hear that you won't be going to Hamburg, but understand why. No need to risk getting stuck in Germany. I am not a crocheter, but I actually bought a Toft kit to make one of the beginner animals -- after the holidays. I'm currently finishing 3 Christmas gifts -- and just got a 4th kit to make my husband a gift (although at the rate I'm going he may be getting ball of yarn and a copy of the pattern....)
