loved the swift visit to the Christmas Market .... Hello to your Mum too . Cant wait to see your baubles all blocked and up showing of their gorgeousness .
Loved the tour of Winchester and Christmas markets and seeing you all rugged up. It's a warm and wet spring for us on the east side of Australia, but all the dams are full and we are very grateful for the rain. I am still on my shawlography and enjoying the process. Congratulations on getting all the baubles done. They will be gorgeous on the tree xx
I could just drink a cup of warm mead 😋. I love those wooden gorillas 😻🤣. Lots of Toffs in that shop and i love the ruby red. I don’t know but i would think the tension doesn’t need to be spot on because whatever it is it will just be a teeny tiny bit smaller. A centraliser🤔. Not seen one of those before. Interesting. Xxx
Oh thank you for sharing the Christmas market in Winchester. My dream trip is the UK and Winchester cathedral is on the top. it was so lovely seeing people out and about enjoying the Advent season.
Loved seeing Westminster and the Christmas markets. Great restraint at the yarn store! My tension is slightly tighter but it is all good. Can’t wait to see the significance of the jewels
Thank you, Martyn. I enjoyed seeing the Cathedral and the market. I am just finishing up my 2nd dog sweater for dogs I know. Always enjoy your vlogs!🧶🎄
Well, since you asked... I finished a Kelbourne Woolens February Hat for my granddaughter late last night. I think it needs a fur pom, so I ordered a bunch of them in various colors. (I think I ordered 20 total, but it was less that $2 per pom, so I can give a bunch of them away!) I also finished a scarf yesterday morning. I have it soaking so I can block it. There's an old farmer's saying that if you start something on Friday you can't finish that day, you'll never finish it, so I am up late casting on two projects - a cowl and another February hat from the younger granddaughter. Since I got them started, I'm going to bed. Tomorrow's my last day to work this week, then a 4 day weekend. 10 working days and 12 vacation/weekend days until Christmas!!
oh thank you for sharing the Christmas market with us! All our are cancelled this year again! So sad! But i can live vicariously through you! I love your enthusiasm!!!
I have finished the porcelain shawl in so beautiful brioche 💚 and right now I knit the "Vertices Unite" from westknit and 7 other projects...... the Christmas markets was beautiful
Oh love the baubles and congratulations on completing them on time. I can't wait to see them. I've never heard of a centraliser before. Only been knitting and crocheting over forty years so still new. 😂 So excited to see your advent grow. Take care and keep safe. xxJane
Great to see at least the UK has xmas markets open! I do an advent socks KAL. Every day a bit until 24th Dec. And have to finish one arm on my Junction sweater. Thanks for your great vlogmas video. 💫😊
Martyn, I loved this post of you guys visiting the Winchester Christmas market. I love the way your Baubles are turning out and am eager to see which blocking method, regular or steaming, works out better. Nice seeing your Mom wearing her jumper. Glad you had a great time.
Great look into the TOFT advent calendar. Enjoy your Vlogs very much. I am usually a knitter, but now I want to do this, too….. 🤩 A piece of advice for the Arne & Carlos baubles. Pressing is very important for a smooth and nice look of the finish object. Do NOT use the steam on the iron, but use a wet kitchen towel («pressing cloth»). Place the baubel in a folded wet towel and press/steam until the water is evaporated and the baubel is nice and flat. Arne and Carlos has a great video on this on their TH-cam channel that shows the whole process. Easy to find on their channel, but is about 5 years old or so.
Hi Martyn, playing catch-up as usual. No advent for me this year, so I have to live vicariously through others. Very rich Ruby colour. Christmas Market looked lovely. Off to see episode 2 x
Looking good Martin, loved Winchester. Busy finishing knitted pressies for Christmas. I'm thinking you Toft advent may be a phoenix, the ruby is a great colour. Looking forward to next vlog x
I'm finished with 4 christmas gift hats. One has my first proper 'colorwork' ; it's only what Arne & Carlos call lice but my son says it's fireflies so I'm sticking to that. Just began a 5th which will also be 'fireflies', this time instead of natural fireflies in a cocoa brown hat, I'll do the cocoa on the natural. The wool is made in India and softened nicely in a quick soak. Choosing the 2nd hat with the same pattern will solidify my skill. Next I'll go back to the black hat with rainbow stripes - a friend in the Midwest asked for it, so I'll do that. Your Toft wool looks so soft and squishy and I'm lusting after it. OMG that market was wonderful! What wonderful stuff. I don't crochet (yet) but can happily enjoy yours. Your critters are so adorable.
So looking forward to you Christmas vlogs! You are already a part of my December traditions. Christmas tree, Gluhwein and Martyn.. what else do we need 🙂
Thank you for taking us with you. I loved the Bramble dk top, you didn't happen to catch the pattern name? Davina of Little Workroom was singing your praises. Lovely to meet your Mama xx
Hi🌈I enjoyed so much watching it's like traveling❣️recently I uploaded autumn leaf at temple🍁 I'm workikg on CAL now but I like watching your knitting😍✨👍
Trying to finish an Astrid jumper by Junko Okamoto for my daughter. I’ve made hats for the sons in law and managed to make a pair of Christmas socks for each of my daughters. Looking forward to the Hiberknitalong at the end of the month. Loved seeing Winchester. Used to live in Hampshire so I know it well.
Took me a bit to put "Winchester" together with "Winchester Cathedral'. I am knitting away at hats, hats, hats. I started last fall, and have 18 finished and 7 in progress.
Hey Martyn! Happy Advent. I am (literally) inches away from finishing up my Christmas gift knitting. Not sure what I will do after that! Loved seeing Winchester - so charming. And the bird looks like great fun. Knit in good health sir... xx, @Professor Purl
Happy vlogmas Martyn. Winchester looks a nice place to visit. I admire your arigurumi skills. Looking forward to seeing the bird come to life. I'm currently part way through my arigurumi tomte.. he has a hat. On third attempt at the body 🙄. I will not be beaten 😂 🎄🌈
So good to spend the holidays with you. that is great you finished your baubles! I love my Arne and Carlos baubles. I did about 6 last year it was my very first knitting project. Crazy I know but I started with a solid color first. Yep, I would be the one that jumps into the deep end first sometimes.
Congratulations on completing the knitting portion of your baubles! Well done! I think you’ll be very surprised how much steam blocking can do. Really enjoyed seeing the Christmas markets as well. I’m very intrigued by your Toft CAL. So much fun to see how they go together! Enjoy your days off!
So great to see your post today and to travel vicariously with you! I'm so intrigued by your Toft animal creation that earlier this week I ordered one of their Christmas Discovery Boxes for myself to go with the little sheep kit that I bought a few weeks ago. Now just to finish up all these Christmas gifts I'm working on and teach myself to crochet and get started!
Yeey, vlogmas!! That Christmas market is so festive. Good job on the baubles! I'm very excited how they're going to look on the tree once they are blocked and stuffed. Looking forward to the next episode! Cheers.
So nice to see you again, and you are on “holiday” and thinking of us! While I watching you I’m finishing my pathway scarf (binding of) Next project is matching mittens or fingerless cloves. And ofcourse you found a Knitting shop😊 and so good of you not to buy more yarn. What a lovely package for the advent, love the red color! (And the stitchmarker) Can’t wait to see the other colors/packages . So nice to see your Mom in her jumper. Baubles done! Good for you! You did it! The menageriebook is on my Christmaslist because of you. Thank you Martin, till the next video 😎
Loved the close-up shot of that random shopper in the fabulous serpentine cabled jacket! It's given me ideas for next NZ winter. Congratulations on finishing your baubles, knew you could do it!
I am working on my Christmas gift knitting. I have also just started a knitted gnome lol First time I am doing magic loop lol Funny you should mention Arne and Carlos, I have just bought their jumper advent calendar patterns. I plan to knit them for my advent calendar next year :) T x
Martin, you forgot to polish the halo for finishing your bobble. I was looking forward to that 😅. What's the white thread running in your crochet? Can you mention that when showing your next clue, I'd love to hear about techniques and tricks.
Hi - don't know how I've missed you - but subscribed today so I won't again. I can't crochet anymore because it's too painful but I love Toft. Pre covid we went there on a "learn to dye day," it was awesome. My advent is from the Corner of Craft and I want to make a stuffed hexagon blanket to use when I get my new wheelchair.....
He finished the baubles yeahhhh :) Can't wait to see them all in the tree! Winchester...nice place...and what a lovely market! Enjoy your advent crocheting and I'll still waiting what it's gonna be :)
Thoroughly enjoyed the tour through the Christmas marke...especially the yarn shop! The Cathedral is gorgeous! A tour through it would be amazing! Looking forward to your next Vlogmas video!
Ah yes, gauge.. pah! No risk no fun and esp. with crochet and esp. with amigurumi I don't think it's crucial. I did not read about and just went on with day 2. Such fun to be able to keep up now not only with watching as last year haha And that's all my crafting at the moment. Have not started the knitted calendar as I'm not sure where this is going and I might use the yarn otherwise. BUT I got my mystery box! And opened it of course - but the packages will wait... ahh! Has your box awaited you after the little holiday?
What a lovely Christmas market! It brought some Christmas spirit here. Thank you! Tonight I'm crocheting on my Amma blanket by Tinna Þórudóttir þorvaldar. Have you seen her work?
Oh it’s been years and years since I have been to Winchester Cathedral…still looks lovely and thanks for taking us along!! Wonder if the Toft advent is a robin or cardinal??
Lovely vlogmas.although I am a knitter I did enjoy seeing your crochet animal coming along. Loved the Christmas market. I am busy knitting the Arne and Carlos Christmas balls and loving their Norwegian wool as well as Rowan wool from last years balls. I noticed A & C use a damp towel then put their baubles in between before steaming with an iron. It seems to have worked with mine. Looking forward to tomorrow 🧶🧶🎄
I am curious to see what your advent project will turn out to be. Here i am still pluddering along on my shawlography, hoping to finish it before the start of Stephens hiberknitalong. Next up are the crisiscrosses...
Hi Martyn, my first thought on that bauble was Wee Willie Winkle 😂, congrats on your finish of the baubles, I’m knitting my first ever mystery character, mine is a mystery Gnome, see you in the next one.
I am using my yarn calendar for the Habitation Throw, and using Andrea Mowry's DRK Everyday Sock pattern for my self-striping advent! Currently knitting on the socks while I catch up on videos! Most of my videos are trying to pair to the cloud, then I will edit today's vlog.
Hi I’m from Texas. When do the Toft crochet alongs go on sale? I didn’t know about Toft until I started watching you last years Slipstravaganza. , missed your blog as last year. Enjoying everything this year. I’d like to do a little crochet here and there. I used to do it but don’t know that many stitches. I did it long before TH-cam. But certain there are videos to help me through it all to learn them. Thanks Martin.
Maybe I missed it, but what's the white thread in your advent birdy there for? I don't do Christmas gifts, I found the whole concept of giving gifts filled me with so much anxiety that I've agreed with my family etc that I won't give nor expect any Christmas or birthday gifts any more. What I do instead is take people out for meals or escape rooms or suchlike when I see them. Which hasn't been for a while but hopefully covid will allow it to happen at some point!
Great video again - thanks. I am really interested in your Toft project; I am very new to crochet but the animals you have been creating look amazing. Are any of the patterns suitable for beginner crocheters? Ignore my question - I just went to their website and have seen that they do have kits suitable for beginners. I'm going to add one to my Christmas list. Winchester looks lovely.
loved the swift visit to the Christmas Market .... Hello to your Mum too . Cant wait to see your baubles all blocked and up showing of their gorgeousness .
Thank you, Martin, for the walk through the Westminster Market🎄

Very enjoyable Martyn! Waiting with bated breath to see what this Toft Advent will be!
Loved seeing Westminster and the Christmas markets. Great restraint at the yarn store! My tension is slightly tighter but it is all good. Can’t wait to see the significance of the jewels
