    George, it is so many years since I was in the USA but I travelled the same route you are on now - minus the great roadside antique and vintage sales🙂 I am drooling here, wishing I was back there again with you going along that highway and finding these amazing treasures along with your encyclopedic knowledge of all things old and collectible. What a rush! Thank you so much for sharing and for teaching. You are such a generous person for taking us with you, teaching as you go. Stay safe on the road and I hope you convert your journey into serious bucks. From a big fan in Ireland.

      @@TheAntiqueNomad Wow - that would be the coolest thing ever. Also because the nature of our Antiques are so different to what you have in the USA - so much of what we have was imported from England or Germany. Our own collectibles, made in Ireland really took off in the 1950/60's but resulted in us being only associated with Waterford and Beleek etc even though our Arts and Crafts were really exciting. Oh, maybe some day you will come here and we will learn about it together over a pint of Guinness - now there's a cliché!!!

I spy..I spy...with your commentary and sensitivity and just having a good time is the best along with your wonderful education. That was a neat lady you were talking to...it is always bittersweet but time..at any point in our lives,,,so just sharing the neatness of things with them as well as getting more info...makes for good feelings all around in selling and buying...interest in their history with an object as well as what it is all about. I am going to buy a rolling pin with red handles and a cameo..as soon as moolah is there and will check with you first. Good evening, George! There was a set of iron shelf brackets on the table there that caught my eye. Were they repros or old ones? I have a water set in the Iris and Herringbone. I'd like a decanter and glasses, too. The water set I have is in the marigold colour, but the clear is older. I'd like a wine set in the clear. Those cameos were fantastic...always a classic and never go out of style. I would've bought the monk on the milk glass. I do like the monk pieces. Mother has a set of the Pillsbury Dough Boy and Poppin' Fresh figures. She's had those FOREVER. That was a good deal on the sphinx bookends. I'm an ancient Egyptian nut. That looked to be a fun excursion! Thanks for the take-along!!!
    Oh yeah...did the dark wood shelf, elk platter or model biplane, at your sale, sell? If any of them are still available, I'd be interested.

    • @TheAntiqueNomad
      @TheAntiqueNomad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think they were real from what I could tell. I like the Iris pattern a lot, the water set is nicely shaped (particularly the pitcher). I never see the decanters! I like the milk glass monks but must admit I bought the more risque monk at the other store instead. I think I still have the elk platter, I'll try to remember to put it aside for you...also am going to pack the iron kettle tonight at last!

    • @CONSTELLATION_PEGASUS
      @CONSTELLATION_PEGASUS 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheAntiqueNomad I've made some clock shelves using bits of antique nightstands that someone had put on the street for rubbish collection. I used antique iron brackets for them, so those caught my attention. I used to have several monk mugs but sold most of them. I usually go more for the Goofus Glass monk items now...when I can find them. They aren't too easy to find, though.
      Just let me know when you're ready to ship the kettle. If the elk platter is still there, just let me know about it, too.

    Like that bit of British accent, George, you did it justice...sort of 🤣 I noticed in the comments one of your viewers is in Ireland. My mom was from London UK & before she passed away my sister took her to England, Ireland & Scotland. Her mum was Irish & her dad was Scottish (i know, what a combo 🤭). She loved junking, but unfortunately bcuz of the beginning of dementia she didn't get the chance to while there. She did happen to take a fall while at my uncle's in England & broke her shoulder, but soldiered on & didn't want to leave early. I watch another youtuber that i believe lives in New Zealand or maybe Australia, not sure, but likes to take a break from his usual content, which is very odd history & did a tour of a junk shop, as he calls it, in Switzerland. While my military family was stationed in Germany in the mid 70s, my sister & i were fortunate enough to go on a school ski trip to Switzerland.

    I am with the lady's husband. I have a hard time letting go of things I love. This past weekend I didn't get anything for resale. This past weekend I didn't get a single thing for resale. I got a uranium glass jar mixer. A complete Handy Andy juice extractor - also uranium - and a HUGE Talavera fish - signed - that I just couldn't part with. And I went to pick up this kind of ugly red cookie jar on a high shelf and it felt really heavy. Discovered over 200 Akro Agate marbles - about half of them uranium or cadmium. Planning on adding them to my collection so I can fill up a gum machine one day. I may sell the non glowy ones but I need to do research. I have to at least cover my splurges! Actually I didn't spend much at all for the treasures - 40 total - along with a beautiful mother of pearl pair of opera glasses - missing the handle though. Looking now for a broken one so I can fix this one up. Huge clock and watch auction next weekend and I may go look for some tools and parts I can sell. My late husband and I owned Sands of Time Horological Workshop for years - sales, repairs and school - and I got a lot of money for his tools and machinery. Hoping July is a good estate sale month!

      @@TheAntiqueNomad I will keep that in mind. I m kind of careful about buying drawers of parts these day because of radium stuff being tossed in. I make sculptures that fit in the palm of your hand. One question I had - I found a signed Murano bird. I think it's a phoenix - pointing up to the sky. Has its label and is signed Renato Anatra on the bottom. The problem is it is on a square base and there are two small chips on the base - the bird is perfect - clear with pink inside. Seems ike it my be worth several hundred. Should I pay to have the chips ground out - they aren't very deep and won't effect it really - or sell it that way and just show pics? I want to get the most from it that I can. I found 3 Muranos in Savers one day - only one is hand signed and has the sticker though.
