Well pleased for you; your resilience and efforts are being rewarded! Wouldn't hurt to treat your new battery to a full charge. I would recommend getting yourself a digital multi-meter. You wouldn't need to spend much and you can then easily test continuity , battery voltage, switches and a plethora of other things.
Just for future reference the fuse box has 3 spare fuses in it for emergency. The fuel tap has a prime position to prime the empty carbs. Well done getting it running. I've had 5 bandits in my 50 plus bikes over 40 years. They are a great way to learn simple bike repairs and maintenance. Keep going buddy. When you get stuck ,step away and research. At the end of the day it's all nuts and bolts! Any way I can help just shout I'm always happy to share. There's many bandit vids on my channel you may find some tips. 👍✌️❤️

Great job, we all started with not a lot of knowledge and by having a go with a manual and help of friends we get there, until such a time you can strip an engine, then put it back together without any thing left over! At the end of the day, doesn’t matter what big you have as long as you have fun on it. I used to have a Tiger 955i, not the best looking bike but grew to love it. Good luck for all future endeavours and sure there are plenty of fellow bikers around on the channel who have Bandits and will offer there knowledge.😊
Great Video mate and you seem a very genuine funny guy, I own the bigger brother of this the GSX 1400 and all in this bike family are very good, Hence why so many people have had them. My mate had the same as yours in the same colour, and has had 3 1250 bandits since and he owns 2 other bikes one being a 15k 2022 GSXR 1000 but still comes out on the bandit. I have 2024 ZH2 but am taking the GSX1400 out Tonight as it's so comfortable lol You will love it. If you want a bit more torque and power go for the 1200,1250s or for a bit more presence the GSX1400 they're all fairly cheap apart for 1400, They're going up in value and I paid £5500 for mine but did only have 7500mls. Keep up the good work.
Nicely done, fuel always on pri when starting from rebuilding carbs when starting don't Rev it until it levels out with choke on and then turn the choke off it takes time to warm up a bandit but once warmed up you have a bomb proof engine under you, I have a 1200s and I won't part with it, there worth keeping 👍

No blockage mate you need a vacume to open the fuel tap . So you use prime to fill your carbs first from empty then turn to on . That engine sound must have been music to your ears lol. Great stuff and your learning all the time mate well done . Now just bring the RPM down to around the 1000 RPM . I think that the engine is running a bit to rich . But its running mate . BTW i have a 1200 Bandit 1997 with only 20k on it . I love it and have restored it . If you send me your email address i will send you pics .
Yes I made that user error, not using the PRI tap position when I tried to start the bike the day after the purchase/ride home. The penny dropped after a minute or 2 and then it started no problem. Dont forget to turn it off again you only need it on for 10-15 seconds, other wise when you leave it to stand overnight it will gradually dump fuel on the floor, as I also found out, it looked like I lost something less than a litre so no big deal if you catch it the next morning.
Yaa nice job that’s one journey over now we wait for the next one. I had that same bike same colour back in the 90s and have fond memories of it. They were a great bike back in the day and still are. Inline filter as I said in one of your first videos. I’m really glad you got it going and btw don’t rev the old girl while she’s on choke. I think the starter clutch assembly is behind the front engine case on the nearside (I could be wrong)? I would definitely invest in some crash bobbins/mushrooms. Most of the "drops" I've had were stupid slow speed ones where the damage could have been minimised with some crash bars or bungs (which I never had). They were always last on my shopping list 😒
@newmotorcycleguy pulse generator cover is RHS. I believe the LHS cover is the starter clutch assembly. I strongly advise that you buy crash bobbins/mushrooms. Save money in the long run. Take care!
The black button on the carbs is the Rickover button, turn it while it's running until the needle settles to 1 thousand revs or just over. If the rev needle wavers to & throw the carbs need balancing.
My 1200 when standard was very sensitive to the choke. Wouldn't start without it most of the time (fairly normal), but if I rode off with the choke on the engine would die in about 200~300 yards. For the starter button, power comes from the fuse to the side stand relay and then to the starter button. From there power goes via the clutch switch (so the starter only works with the clutch lever pulled - although pretty common people bypass this) and then to the starter relay. Note it is not uncommon for a wire to break in the loom just behind the head stock where it gets regularly flexed. As to paintwork, that tank looks overall pretty good paint wise (as long as not too many scratches from being upside down when cleaning out). If so probably worth buying a cheap scratched tank to respray and sell the one with good paint (cheapest mk1 tank on Ebay is £60, going up to over £100, and none are anywhere as good paint wise as yours looks).
Always run the bike on good fuel. I use shell supreme as its 99+and its the ethanol in the cheap fuel that over time eats away at the o rings in the fuel system and just generally causes you problems. Your pocket might not thank you but your bike will.
Well done for your hard work and perseverance.... I'd get the carbs balanced next if you can, will make a huge difference. Don't know if your Haynes manual will guide you 🤞
well done - if your leaving the bike sitting for a few days. Use pri on the fuel tap to start it. Then move the tap back to where it was. Dont turn the throttle when starting it. can flood it.
Well done. Bandits make great commuter bikes. Yes, Petrol tap 😂 i was moaning at your earlier videos. Remember to cut back that grip if it won't push on further. As others have said, set tickover (large knurled nob in middle at bottom of carbs) to 1200 when hot. Enjoy and ride safe, keep it well locked, and these are a favourite of the scumbags. Good luck 😊

@@newmotorcycleguy great hope there's more videos to come. There's a lot of people who don't know what they need to do with maintenance etc these videos are very helpful. What's the registration?
@newmotorcycleguy awesome hob though, you should be proud of yourself. A carb strip is a daunting thing for people who have been riding for decades let alone someone who is just starting out
Take a look at the regulator or the rectifier, one thing to check the battery is if the bandit is draining the battery, charge it and try the bandits battery then on a bike you know is good. But I think you need to check rectifier/regulator. Good luck
Your battery is fubar. Always charge up a new battery as they only come 80% charged out of the box. Also after draining carbs put petrol tap onto pri. this primes the carbs then switch to on or res.
both car and motorbike batteries can show fully charged on a charger however due to deep discharge and sulphation of the plates the battery wont hold a charge
When you tried starting it you had the kill switch on, it won’t start like that. Also if it’s in gear it won’t start because it’s got a side stand switch
Congratulations on getting it started. Once you had discovered the blown fuse, your issue was the knackered battery plus the kill switch ( we have all done that 😱). With the empty carbs, it can take a while for fuel to come through. As others have commented, the prime setting on the petrol cap helps. Again, as other comments, when up to operating temperature, turn that knurled knob to bring the revs at tick over down to the spec setting as per manual. That green 30 amp fuse will be the main fuse. If ever your total electrics fail & your battery is good, this is the first thing to check.
1st off, I did tell you on previous video you need to prime the carbs via fuel tap prime function, would of saved you hunting around. Also Do NOT fit an inline filter it will restrict your fuel flow to carbs, i learned this hard way, until i tested the flow. Nice sounding bike! You done really well! Be proud of yourself Ps never rev high from cold, allow her to warm up a little bit otherwise you will risk damaging the engine Also engine oil, 10w30 semi synthetic, do not use anything else, otherwise you will have issues with the clutch :)
Thank you for this, loads of people say about getting an inline filter, Ill assess how the bike runs and get a few other jobs done before i get one, if i do!
Hope you saved some of that vinegar for fish and chips because you deserve a treat after all that. Doesn't seem like too bad a buy. Perhaps the vendor being a bit cluelass worked in your favour, if all it needed was a bit of time and effort to get it back on the road.
@@newmotorcycleguy Props for sharing your learning experience with a wider audience. Takes courage to expose yourself to some of the know-it-all smart alecs out there.
Well done bud, didn't even think the fuse would have gone, but at the end of the day it did what it's meant to do. Hope you get some good commuting out of it and maybe see you as Chris Speding sang, Mov'in on the Queen's highway,. th-cam.com/video/7Juz4W9yEYA/w-d-xo.html safe riding (catching up on your older content still 👍)
Thanks, a few other jobs to do and ill be ready to go! there's plenty of older stuff, so i hope there is more you enjoy. I really like learning stuff and sharing it.
buy yourself a better battery charger modern chargers suck because they need feedback from the battery before they will charge it so if the battery is totally dead a modern charger will not charge it correctly... even though it says fully charged it wont be.
@@newmotorcycleguy sorry I mean the starter motor seems slow. It was ok when it was running. The small exhaust isn't my cup of tea. delkavik sound better keeps it nice and respectable with a nice tone
My 96 600n, when cold, no choke = no start, choke only + no revs = starts straight up,, 2 seconds later 5000 rpm, no inbetween, little bomb proof thing. I got it in 98,just returned to former glory and rides mint. Cracking bikes, you lash on mate you'll keep having fun 👍
Ordered the battery and proceeds to dismantle the switch gear? Better to try the new battery first, but hay! You've got to learn something somewhere right? Oh yeah like you were told in other videos, you need to prime your carbs by switching the petcock to prime for 20 seconds then back to ON, then try and start. Oh my! So many revs, so much choke! Either way, It's good you got her running. Congratulations! 🎉 Me? I probably come across as a dick!? Sorry about that.
Congrats on getting it started. To fill the carbs, use the prime setting on the petcock, yes I call it that :P., yet only do this for about 3-5 seconds. For the idle revs there is a thumb screw on the carbs which you can adust to get a good idle speed. The idle should be 1200rpm + or - 100 rpm when warm. If you are not able to get a steady idle then the air full mixture maybe incorrect, which may mean the carbs need to be synced. The bandit 600 will actually run fine on e10, that is all I use for mine. The only time it may become a problem is if it sits with fuel in for a long time.
Well pleased for you; your resilience and efforts are being rewarded! Wouldn't hurt to treat your new battery to a full charge. I would recommend getting yourself a digital multi-meter. @@newmotorcycleguy might be advantageous to invest in a smart battery charger would have solved that problem a lot quicker
It takes a while to get this engine up to temperature. Charge your new battery 😊
thank you, and will do!
11.33 kill switch on when trying to start. 3K idle from cold 😢😢
thank you!
Good job
Thanks
well done
Thank you!
When you tried starting it you had the kill switch on, it won’t start like that. Also if it’s in gear it won’t start because it’s got a side stand switch
Thank you.
Tick over at 2000 rpm is way to high. Look in manual it till tell you the idle speed rpm.
ok, will do, thank you!
Be proud of yourself
Ps never rev high from cold, allow her to warm up a little bit otherwise you will risk damaging the engine
Also engine oil, 10w30 semi synthetic, do not use anything else, otherwise you will have issues with the clutch :)
Now that is a positive spin i need to hear with this bike! Thank you!
@@newmotorcycleguy Props for sharing your learning experience with a wider audience. Takes courage to expose yourself to some of the know-it-all smart alecs out there.
👍👍👍👍
Thank you
Well done bud, didn't even think the fuse would have gone, but at the end of the day it did what it's meant to do.
Hope you get some good commuting out of it and maybe see you as Chris Speding sang, Mov'in on the Queen's highway,.

safe riding (catching up on your older content still 👍)
Thanks, a few other jobs to do and ill be ready to go! there's plenty of older stuff, so i hope there is more you enjoy. I really like learning stuff and sharing it.
You have done a good job mate. Get some locks before scumbag nicks it.
Yea, I have those already! It only takes a second!
And what wrong with my Multistrada ???
haha, we wont mention the price! ;)
Dad bike
Ma first bike a red one fast for my first one ,they can move like
well any movement would be good right now! lol
buy yourself a better battery charger modern chargers suck because they need feedback from the battery before they will charge it so if the battery is totally dead a modern charger will not charge it correctly... even though it says fully charged it wont be.
Interesting, thank you for this.
Might be an old bike mate but they are bullet proof.
That is exactly why i got it, so once shes up and running it'll be a keeper i hope.
Turns over very slowly or i could be wrong perhaps TH-cam sounds different to real life
I have a few bits to do, but interesting comment. I've had a fiddle with idle, so maybe its a little better.
@@newmotorcycleguy sorry I mean the starter motor seems slow. It was ok when it was running. The small exhaust isn't my cup of tea. delkavik sound better keeps it nice and respectable with a nice tone
NEVER EVER REV A BIKE FROM COLD. Let it arm up naturallly first.
ok, thank you for this.
Why
@@douglasaitken3203 because engine oil is not up to running temperature and can cause damage.
@@ianwilson3862 thank you
Ordered the battery and proceeds to dismantle the switch gear? Better to try the new battery first, but hay! You've got to learn something somewhere right? Oh yeah like you were told in other videos, you need to prime your carbs by switching the petcock to prime for 20 seconds then back to ON, then try and start. Oh my! So many revs, so much choke!
Either way, It's good you got her running. Congratulations! 🎉 Me? I probably come across as a dick!? Sorry about that.
Thank you for the comment, Its a lot to remember!
stick a 1200 in it lol
haha one step at time!
The only time it may become a problem is if it sits with fuel in for a long time.
thank you for this, and a very useful piece of info!
Its getting there. Get your chokre off as soon as possible. Don't rev from cold.
ok, thank you for the advice!
