I have enjoyed all your railway videos especially the ones in the east riding of Yorkshire, keep up the good work Pete
Thank you, they are going to keep coming!
Iridium plugs work just fine with Bandit's. It seems to be schtick with older fellas saying irdium plugs don't work with X older model motorcycle.
Thank you for this, i havent changed them as yet, but i feel those type are necessarily expensive, the bike starts with normal one just fine! lol
Some really good video footage on this one 👍
Thanks 👍
Fantastic video Peter enjoyed every minute of it keep doing what you're doing it's brilliant.
Glad you enjoyed it
When the railway lines were dismantled, did the farmers get a chance to buy back or technically does it still belong to the railway company? I’ve often wondered this
Farmers are offered it back, some just take it back, sometimes the land is leased, and sometimes its just left and people walk it, then after about twenty years of continuous use it becomes a protected public footpath. sometimes modern railway land once abandoned goes to a body that takes over the land for future sales, either privately, or to developers, and even back to net works network rail. This happened recently with the Wortley curve in Leeds.
Great video, I was out walking along the Hudson Way from Market Weighton only this week.
Thank you, im planning that line at the moment!
Great video Pete: I trust the Bandit's still running ok. 🙂
Thank you, an update coming shortly! but yes!
@@newmotorcycleguy Pete I'm glad to be of some help and looking forward to the update🙂
Brilliant vid. About 1988 i was friends with a guy who owned Ruler Hall and we could walk along the platform from end to end. Its incredible how nature has taken over and covered it in just 40years.
I was speaking to the people at ruler hall, they put us on to a goods waggon still exists from this line! yes in that time nature really takes over!
Those are the corner Frames from looks like 20ft box wagon irons are the braces from axle box woulve sat under t shaped iron 12/18tone
Fabulous! thank you for this, i was convinced it was an old goods waggon remains!
Hello i hope I can help,I have a 2004 cb600f and had similar problems your having, mine also was leaking from the carbs as the seals were 20 year old. I bought a new complete kit from amazon been leak free since, make sure to completely clean the channels the seal sit in as there will be remnants of the old one in there use something plastic to dig and scrape you don't want any scratches in there ,once clean used some grease in the channels then placed the seals Into place the grease helps them stay in place and expand so I'm told. I only run my bike on Shell E5 V power it's faultless and runs like a dream hope this helps good luck and never give up on her 👍
thanks for the comment, and great advice!
Thank you for a great video and I’m proud to say that this was my home 🤗 Yes, to the signal box and a train went off near there too apparently. And there was a small garden, I would get gooseberries, rhubarb & horseradish, they were on the go for years. Many childhood adventures on that line and I still have a piece of the original line (Obviously it’s not light and removal men bringing me up to the Highlands couldn’t believe I was lugging it around with me lol 😂). The yard you are in near the kennels had a row of coping stones which kept the parking area off the track, some lovely ones, wonder where they are? There wasn’t any Christmas Trees, we had poultry & I had Pet Sheep and the small quarry was at the back, sadly it has been filled in, shame, I don’t think it should have been, really was small, but a haven of flora etc (Bit like the viaduct towards North Grimston, sad day when it came down). The weigh room was always under lock & key by my dad, but I would try to sneak in when I could lol The crossing going across the road, well it was an another sad day when they filled that bit of the line in, as it was wonderful too, cowslips galore and lots of treasures, old bottles, pots etc I’d like to know who gave you permission (Just curious, as obviously I know them). I have numerous photos from when it was an active station (You’ve posted some) and from since it closed. And stories a plenty (Including the ghost of the house 😉). It is a very special place indeed and there will always be a part of me there. Thank you for sharing & I seem to have got something in my eye whilst typing 🥹
Thank you, please don't let that line get lost! I'm sure the Yorkshire wolds railway would display it! The comment is wonderful! It is the personal stories that make it more real. I would very much like to see any photos, and also please, don't let these get lost either, Again the Yorkshire wolds railway is collecting an archive of photos that turn up. The people that live there now are very proud it was a railway and were very welcoming of me to film on the property.
when did you film the video
I would say at least two to three months ago.
Nice one Peter loved it 👍
Glad you enjoyed it, it was lovely to visit!
There would of been a stop cock outside of the building you could of turned the water off At least to save the water being wasted Great vid Sad to see it in this state
Sadly i didn't look, but i shall look if i come across the same problem again.
Really Really enjoyed this one 👌
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice one our kid loved it 👍
Awesome! Thank you!
little sh*ts have ripped out the pipes out the water coming from ceiling is from upstairs
Thanks for the explore, Pete. Apparently plans have been drawn up to demolish and build eight homes on the site.
Yep, a real shame and loss to the community, but pubs are getting priced out of existence and at least this one inside has not been filmed.
I diagnose substance abuse and draughty knees cause by her torn jeans 😢😢
Great video..thanks for making it👍 I spent a large time of my happy childhood playing on the "banking" as we termed the cutting in the 1960's/70's as my house backed onto the railway line. It was basically a giant childrens playground Here's a few of my memories (1) There's a stream underneath the present backfill, I used to make small dams in it (2) There's a housing estate to the left towards Milner Road junction. I have fond memories of being let into the cab of a bulldozer and driver even letting me have a go with the controls 😁 (3) We'd often find giant bolts from the railway, but no sign of the sleepers or track (4) Back then children could buy fireworks, we used to set them off in the tunnels and build bonfires in them - maybe that's what the soot is! (5) Train used to drive past around dinner time, kids used to come into my garden to wave at the drivers (6) Many kids used to makes slides down the cutting. Minor injuries were frequent, but mum would just patch us up and we'd go back!
Thank you for this amazing comment and personal story of what was happening then.
Brilliant video my dad always told me railway buildings were built to last the blue bricks you refer to are Staffordshire blues very hard engineering bricks thanks for a lovely tour
Very welcome, I'm currently filming the rest of this line to Selby.
The metal work you pointed out could possible have been to secure telegraph poles, they are called turn buckles (I think), there was a lot of them supporting poles due to the condition of the ground Hope that helps
Ahh thank you for this comment.
Great to see a new heritage railway coming to life. The only carriages are those two in the platform. All the rest are wagons.
Yes, very true, this line is getting some major updates at the moment so well worth going and watching!
Check wiring diagram online (if exists) for color coded cables and their purposes.
Great setting with those views
Yea, it was lovely.
A couple of suggestions It would be nice if you could search the dates on the food items to get an idea of how long it's been empty. Also, it's hard to see the items you focus on, because it's blurry. Otherwise, love the video.
Thank you for the comment. That's a great idea. On this video i had a new camera and it was the first time i used, so hopefully later ones have improved.
Pete this was incredible and the attention to detail and the colours….wow. I thought I was in a living museum like Beamish!
Thank you, It was important to me that i showed this as it was. nothing short of unique and s[special!
In the smithy, you say ''two oil lamps'' , but one is a Primus stove. That would be a good item I'd think to date the last occupancy. I don't think they are as old as one hundred years , but I don't know for sure . Incredible place though, for sure.
It had a lovely feeling, and it was amazing to see!
The long black tap that goes below the frame rail unscrews from the fuel tap, this is meant to be removed from the fuel tap before you lift the tank, makes it so much easier, as for the running issue it sounds like fuel starvation, perhaps the fuel line is or vent hose is kinked?
Thank you, they were not kinked, but im having hard time on getting the black part off i think that part is well seized on, though i did strip and clean the rest of it!
May sound daft@ but are you using JIS screwdrivers? A bit of plus gas and the right screwdriver and that should come straight off
It was a true time capsule Pete.
Yes, is was great to see it!
Did you take the bandit?
It wasn't road worthy at this point, it was break from the damn carbs! lol
The uniform in the picture was RAF . There are so many of this type of empty houses over here in Ireland . Still furnished and old food and various items left inside. Great steam make a difference from your Bandit lol. 👍👍👍
HAHA thanks, and i would like to get over and look at some them in Ireland!
Travellers are working their way through 'em!
@@russell-di8js Its sad but its true . No respect for anything or anyone.

Wow that is amazing, great video
Thanks, being there was something else!
The boiler in front of the fire is a swill boiler for boiling pig swill
no way!! thank you for this!
It took me about many tries to find a fuel filter that I could put on my ‘98 bandit that met 2 very important criteria. 1: it had to fit. (Space is tight under the tank.) 2: it had to allow sufficient fuel flow. Most are either too big to fit and/or also expect a fuel pump. This is a gravity fed fuel system. If I remember correctly 6 to 12 inches of petrol has about 0.1 to 0.2 PSI of fuel pressure. that is the height, roughly, from the top a gsf600 fuel tank to the carbs. It is almost zero pressure. A paper filter is not a filter, it is a blockage I eventually found a Micro filter, about the size of my thumb, that uses a sintered filter element and I can fit it in under the tank, on eBay.
Thank you for this, i did manage to get a small filter but not put it on, and yes the space is very limited!
You didn’t get scammed you just didn’t check it properly
maybe so, but the seller should have also said the issues.
For the brake lines, should be 1 line down to a splitter on the bottom yoke, then from that 1 to each caliper. Having 2 lines from the master cylinder to the calipers will make zero difference to how the brakes work, just that if replacing the braided hoses the 2 direct lines are cheaper (careful how you route them as braided lines are more easily damaged if they rub on anything). The front brakes should not be that bad. But they can easily start of stick. They are easy to strip down. Check the calipers slide on the carriers. Pop the pistons out, clean out the grooves the seals sit in (likely some corrosion in them) and reassemble. If you want to lube the pistons, etc, then use red rubber grease (the Granville one is the one I find the best). Then reassemble and bleed thoroughly. The rears regularly seize up, especially the pins that locate the pads. I would suggest you pick up a spare caliper and strip / rebuild it in advance. Then you can just swap it on (and rebuild the one currently on the bike when convenient).
thank you for this info, very useful. I just ordered braided hoses.
For someone who knows nothing about mechanics, you have done an amazing job. You have achieved great things and gained some knowledge. The bike seems to be running great, so i was wondering why are you going to pull the head? If its not broke, dont fix it. My advice is to leave well alone.
Thank you, and i will take the advice and leave well alone!
Put an original muffler back on and it will probably give it more low done torque and be lovely and quiet
Thank you, this is my goal for the bike.
Buy a bottle of afc50 ready for the winter salt roads, give bike thorough clean and spray it everywhere evexpt brake parts
Thank you!
Yeah leave the head alone. Only if the oil return pipes are leaking as they rust. Left and right front of the engine above the exhaust. I spray mine with silver high temp paint. Get an extender fender for the front mud guard. Your ins should cover a breakdown.
Thank you!
You should always get brakedown cover on your insurance. It's not that expensive and it's peace of mind.
Thank you, and very true
Don't take the head off Pete would be my advice. What will you do once you've got it off? You're getting yourself into a whole heap of trouble, micrometers, shims and a whole load more. It sounds great now, so if it ain't broke, don't try and fix it Pete. I'd have no trouble doing it, but I'm a mechanic with all the tools to do the job. Leave well alone Pete. You've found and fixed the problems, so enjoy the bike is my advice. 🙂
Thank you for the advice, ill listen to this.
Sound advice.
