If i were to use this to make a grip textured curved surface, will the edges be stretched/elongated? Or does the sketch hold its dimensions as best it can around a curved surface?

In the second example, I think a better option would be to use the extrude command. In the extrude command, you can change the starting condition to "object" and select the cylindrical face. This will create an extrude that follows the cylindrical face.

Sure, but a goal was to show different tools. Extrude was also covered.

Awesome! Thank you this is just what I needed to get clips onto a round inner ring. This worked great! I don't know if they changed something in the last year but I was able to emboss/mirror and then just chamfer the emboss. So it was editable on the faces now.

God a video of how to add the SVG file exactly? I try to add it, and it has me try to select a surface, and it just goes horribly wrong that it ends up freezing.

Maybe your svg file is too big, or has too many pieces.

Hello, I'm working on a project right now and i'm a complete novice to rounded surfaces. I have a dome'esk shape and I want to put a sketch on that surface so I can pipe it. I tried what you did in this video but after i select emboss, it does not let me select the face of the dome. Only the bottom flat side. Got any words of wisdom for me? :)

It only works on a cylinder. This person has a workaround where he embosses a cylinder, deletes the cylinder, replaces it with a sphere and then does a replace face. You could try that with your dome. th-cam.com/video/G-9GNVpYjk4/w-d-xo.html

@@ProfDrafting Thanks so much. I'll probably have to watch this video a couple dozen times to grasp the idea and try it myself.
