This is exactly what I was thinking about. Very clean install!
Glad I could help
Thanks for the video, I received a quote for professional install of 12k for the whole house. Your genius idea is the way to go, best DIY install on TH-cam. Thank you!
I’m glad I was able to help :) thank you for your comment and support
This is freaking genius 👏🏾 just ordered the kit waiting on it to arrive now I think I want it installed this way
I love it :)
@Sunny sharif , thanks for the video and earlier reply. I did go with a diff kit but large equivalent and so glad I didn’t go medium. Perfect fit with trimming four snips for each pixel. Though I did tear off each trim peice around each light for aesthetics. Painted sides and tops. Looks so amazing and seamless I knew my HOA would go for the bare wires. Super thanks!!!
Oh also masked the domes and painted the white around the pixels. Wish I knew how upload a pic
That looks so clean.
Thank you :)
I love this idea. I bought some and when I try to put the govee pro outdoor lights into the channel the light is just barely to wide. Are you doing anything else besides cutting out a notch and putting back on the cover? Does the notch in the raceway not impact the cover back on it being "flush"? I doesnt look like it in the video.
Damn I wish I’d seen this before my install
What area do you live in? Im just curious how the pvc will hold up to heat. Even if it doesnt warp, im wondering how much it will expand/contract with temperature changes. Thanks for the video
Anyone have a solution to mount along a roofline with no sofffit / drip edge? I have a cathedral style roofline, so on 2 sides of the house it’s just the roof flush with the wall. Do they make any L channels to either slide under the roof shingle edge or attach to the side of the exterior wall and point them down?
One more thing, my kit was 15@ 16.9x1.18x.60 (254” $19.99) vs yours 14@ 15.7x1.18x.63 (220” $19.99). I regretfully say I had more waste in length and the .60 vs .63 left a bulging effect around the weatherproof connections.
I dont get why the amazon seller limit the purchase of the Raceway Channels T^ T,, any subsitute? i couldnt find one wide like this
Thanks for sharing, it's indeed cleaner! Did you get the large or XL?
yourwelcome I did the Large, link in the description. thank you for your support
Can you post what they look like on installed in that channel. First time I've seen someone use a channel for the govee lights.
Yes at the end of the video there are some pictures showing how they look like
Sunny, what is the width of the raceway; Amason has Medium, large, and X-Large, I am thinking large but I want to be sure. Thank you
Hi Aerie, here is the direct link amzn.to/3sYDFug
It’s the large one
Love this idea! Do you have to cut the covers? If so what do you cut them with?
Yes very little and you can use any 5 dollars snip cutter from harbor freight. .45 inch needs to be cut so very little waste
@@5sunny01 Just completed my install! It was a lot of labor but it worked like a charm and looks professional/custom. Thanks again!
@@rockyparise I’m glad it worked out send some pictures
Looks great! Did you come across a raceway to fit the pro? Those are 18.5” between the lights.
This is the problem I'm having any luck
Are these the standard govee permanent lights or the pro versions. Looking at doing install on my house this spring. Renting a bucket lift. I measured my govee pros and they measure 1 3/8" which would be too large for the channel you have used.
Those are the standard lights. You can tell by the puck design and since you can see the 3 wires together. The pro looks like a single wire with an more rounder light puck
What size raceway Chanel did you get medium or the large and how many did you have to buy? I only plan on using about 2 to 3 inches per led just enough for it to stick nicely flat. I just installed 3 segments today and some are already falling because my soffits are similar to yours mine have bumbs where the holes were punched out
Here is the correct size link:
amzn.to/3T6URbI
It’s a large size, how many ft are you trying to do?
@5sunny01 thanks it's 150ft kit but I don't think I will run the channel all the way around like you did maybe just enough to get each led a flat surface to stick to I already installed 3 strands and out of those I have about 9 leds hanging already I might have to stop at Homedepot tomorrow and see if they have those so I can fix them before they all fall. Curious how many ft did you do and how many did you use for the wrap around 🤔
I actually thought about this , just thought it was way to expensive to cover my house since these kits come with minimal coverage. Figured if i was gonna spend a couple more bucks , id honestly just rather pay for a professional install
Actually I have 250ft of lights and I only got 13 box and total 245 but they look so good and clean, better than just bare wires hanging
@5sunny01 your absolutely right about the clean look , probably the best instal I've seen to date
@@5sunny01love the install and idea. However, I’m super cheap and at nearly half the cost per linear ft, I’m considering the medium. Do you think this would be a horrible decision on my part?
@@aneye4aneye977 medium would work but it won’t be as seamless. Lights will be bigger and the medium will only hide the wire
Good for a year or 2.. but those are indoor channels not UV coated. Aluminum would’ve been a better option for a more permanent install
Great point! That’s a pVC and under overhang so not directly exposed to the sun, also PVC has minimal affect of UV
would you like to get some nice outdoor solar lights?
What kind of lights?
@@5sunny01 Can i have your email? i will sent photo to you
I haven’t seen a solar light yet which I’ve liked.
Seems like overkill.
