Almost every town in the Niagara region is a good choice. It’s all a matter of what you’re looking for.

I lived here from 1978 till 1985. I moved back in 1991 to go to Niagara College. In the early to mid nineties I couldn't even get a minimum wage job in this city. It seems that others have said the same thing about Welland that it is difficult to get work there and in the Niagara Region in general. Which is true.

Very interesting. When I talk to business owners, they tell me how difficult it is to find employees.

I believe the current hospital was opened in 1960, taking the reigns from the Riverside Annex on the corner of Prince Charles Drive. I think you said they opened in 1909 or something.

Biggest thing I noticed about Welland since changing careers is how progressive and forward thinking the city is, definitely didn’t see that before working with them.

@@CDN0128 I know...I chuckled at that. The infrastructure is crumbling but they allocate money to put pretty digital lighting on a decommissioned old bridge - and a huge TV screen 40-feet in the air at city hall so they can air commercials. The mayor is a sad joke and things get done at a snail's pace. Otherwise - all Wellandgood.

Hi, I am planning to move to welland this year from Toronto. I am about to make an offer to a house in Valencourt dr. Can you please guide me if it is a good idea to move there? We are young couple with a family of 4 right now. My parents, wife and me. And we are expecting to raise our kids here. How are the winters here?

it is nice, not too quiet but you can find places at the parks and canal for family events.
Food selection and diversity is still low, but is slowly growing, it needs help and support from new community members.
It's about 45 minute walk to any part of the city.
East side of the canal is more of a french community and cheaper living.
lots of places to visit within 45 minute drive.
Winters have been fairly mild, it gets icy a few times during the winter, but temperatures have been getting warmer in the last 30 years.
