I'm so happy for Valverde. He deserved this title, after 15 years fighting for it, winning 6 medals in different profiles but no gold. And he does it with 38, in the hardest world cup that I remember (based on its profile).
What a legend. I can't wait to see him winning Lombardia/Flandes/Liege with the rainbow jersey.

In fact he paid with a 2 year sanction without a possitive test. He paid for it anyway and won this awesome world cuap without a possitive. Where's the problem here? Dopping in cyclims in 2010 in his team? Do you really think that some of the pro cycling teams aren't using this products during the las 3 decades?
@@OmarOrtiz1 Yes, he paid for it, even if he didn't give a positive (although there were evidences that he was somehow involved in Operación Puerto) and he came back stronger than ever after the suspension

Maybe Cosmo Catalano could also do a version "How The Race Was Won of UCI WC Women Road Race 2018" of the female Merckx Anna van der Breggen who won Strade Bianche, de Ronde van Vlaanderen, de Waalse Pijl, Luik-Bastenaken-Luik etc. and also UCI WC Women Road Race this year. ;o)

If he had been team leader, Bardet would probably have won.
It would have helped but I feel like valverde was so strong he could have followed repeated bardet attacks. Also bardet was treated like a leader until the final climb when at such slow speeds it probably didn't make too much difference. But it would have been interesting to see the French use different tactics to help bardet to go solo instead of alaphillipe who could rest on his sprint.
