Why is it that when I watch a modern day night routine I don’t feel productive, but when I watch a 1950’s night routine I feel like cleaning my room and taking a bath. 🤔😂
In the 50s my grandfather would come home, send my dad and his brothers out to play and sit my grandma down with a glass of sherry, some rolled cigarettes and a magazine. He died in 1974, 7 years before I was born, no wonder my grandma still missed him and spoke of him fondly until her death in 2007
This is great for people who grew up without structure or routine. The world is so fast the small stuff like pampering and loving meals have been forgotten. Its hard to find a routine that works. We’re all different but structure is necessary for everyone. It has been a long struggle in this life for me creating one that works but your videos are very inspiring and motivating. Thank you! ♥️

Yes! I just realized that is why I love videos like these! I grew up in chaos yearning for structure. That is why I loved school so much. The only place I had structure.
This woman, back in the 50s would have been a full-time home-maker so she would have all day to do things around the house. That was typically her job back then. Nowadays, with both spouses having to work just to pay the mortgage and bills, there’s little time for this kind of home management. We shouldn’t feel inadequate because of that. Besides, a bit of dust or clutter hurt no one and will be still there when there is more time to tend to it.
We live busy lives but my wife finds time to make a beautiful meal and keep everything in order so on Friday nights I take her to the best restaurants in town or I cook her anything she wants through in a few diamonds here amd there and you got a love to test time

What does hubby do while you’re doing all of this? After dinner my mother and father sat and watched the news or read the newspaper. I remember my mother and father going to bed together. This was 1960. Daddy worked for NASA and mother was an at home mother. Every evening father came home with his big grey thermos which held his coffee. He smelled of a freshly pressed suit and double-mint gum. Ahhh...thanks for the memories. ☀️ I love your channel!💖
Thanks so much for watching! 😊 I think the husband would usually do exactly what you mentioned, watching tv, reading the paper or a book. So I guess while the housewife cleans the dishes he might sit down to watch some tv! 😂
@@ezclean7022 This is not my usual routine obviously, but in this instance following a vintage evening routine, the husband would usually relax either watching tv or reading a book and maybe even help out!
Your channel is lovely! I am a stay at home wife and I absolutely love showing my family how much I love them by making nice meals. For over a decade I was a teacher and worked outside the home. When I left work to have our first child, I realized how wonderful the world of homemaking can be.

What a beautiful video, Sage. Even though I grew up in the 80s & 90s, so many people’s homes still looked like they were from the 50s & 60s. I love 50s & 60s fashion and take inspiration from it for myself.

These videos are so calming, I am getting better (slowly!) at keeping the home clean and cooking home made meals ect. Something about this routine is so nice haha.
Something that my mom taught me when working with raw potatoes was to keep them in a bowl of cold water while whole or even cut so that they don't go brown. The potato water can then be used for soups or gravy afterwards. Lovely channel. Thank you. ❤
This goes for most fruit and vegetables as they tend to brown from oxidization! For fruit you can also squeeze lemon juice over them to prevent browning. As long as the oxygen flow is cut off, they shouldn't turn brown.
Seeing your content always sparks joy. There is something beautiful about the simplicity of daily routines that make time for husband and wife as well as for home management and self-care.

Your skin care routine is so simple yet feels so luxurious when you do it. I have tried all of the products from the facial cleansing bar, ponds cold cream, and the Olay pink cream and I love it! My skin feels wonderful. Honestly I didn't have any sort of skin care products besides a bottle of lotion before I saw how wonderful your routine seemed. And it is so affordable! A lovely way to pamper yourself without breaking the bank. Thanks so much!
Gosh can 1950's housewife pop over to mine at 5pm every day!!😉 Hope 1950's hubby (James) is appreciating the effort you put in. Had no idea you could still buy Ponds cold cream, apparently its still sold at Priceline here in Melbourne. Loved it. Thankyou.
Yes Pond is still around and I use their facial creams and I love it. Family use it since the 1960's and it works great. I get Ponds on Amazon cheaper and comes it packs love it.
I switched to using Ponds cold cream to remove makeup - it’s incredibly effective, but I find it a little oily so it needs to we cleansed off properly after wiping. I used to use Olay from way back when my mum used it (and it was called Oil of Ulan!), and also Nutrimetics apricot kernel oil and Nivea cream. Wow I feel old! 😂 I’ve realised I own the same lippy Sage touches up in this video. It’s a lovely shade.
I never paid it any mind but am thinking of buying it tonight & giving it a try. I work nights and clean & cook & make sure our kid does his homework & take care of the pets. It’s exhausting but I’m trying to find some time for me in the process.

U have so much energy and are adorable:) I wish I could live back in the 50’s. It was a simpler time. I love to cook (though I’m not one for cleaning that much. Lol) and quiet nights with no cell phones and connecting with loved ones. I’d love to see a video on your favorite nightly beauty routine!
I have a 3 yr old and a 5 yr old. Not every day is easy, but they are much more manageable than they were when I had a newborn and a 2 yr old. If you have babies I'd say just try to focus on them and don't push yourself too far until they're a bit older. The trick is to not expect too much. My house gets cleaned, but not all at one time. For example, today I did the bathrooms and couldn't get the showers cleaned. That's alright, I'll do it another day. When I cook, I try to make healthy foods that don't require much prep work. The kids eat a lot of fruit. Lol. Tomorrow I'm throwing a chicken and some cut up veggies in the oven for dinner. Yesterday I did a 12 minute yoga workout because that's all the time I had. Breaking the work into small, manageable chunks is key for me.
i wasn't born until much later, but i loved the books i went thru in my grandparents homes and loved every bit of it. Thank you so much for bringing it to life. I wish this life would come back again. The sweet good old days. You and James look beautifully old fashioned. !!
If all the bad of those times where swept away and all where treated equal, I would absolutely love to live during these times.. simple pleasant times.
In 1973 i mived to Texas to go to school and I lived with my aunt and uncle. My aunt was a stsy at jome mom who did everything just like the video. She sewed, vook a wonderful dinner every nght but the thing she did that was so special was just like this wife, dhe greeted my uncle home every night slong with their kids and me. To do tjis dhe would go into the bathroom to refresh her makeup snd gic her hair and lastly new lipstick. He worked at Texas Instruments and my aunt worked to create a loving home. So glad i was a part of that 😊

As someone who feels overwhelmed by routine, I can easily say I would not have survived in the 1950's.
I would’ve put my head in the oven
me too, I was dead in a month, if I have to spend time in the 50s
What is your job than?
😂😂😂 I feel extremely anxious without a very strict routine
love these 40/50's routines. we have a 1940's weekend at a local museum every July. it was cancelled last year understandably because of covid so really hoping we are in a better place this year. love these Sunday videos its a nice way to wake up here in the uk
You made the algorithm and I'm here for it. What a awesome idea for a channel. This was just so relaxing
Aw thanks so much for watching!! 😊
Finding your channel has been such a joy. You are so soothing, educational and entertaining all at the same time! I have always been in love with 50’s and I sometimes forget you are from now and not then! ❤
This is such a sweet video! I take good care of my husband and he takes good care of me, we work as a team! Isn't it great we all have our own way of doing things and it just works!
I love the bloopers at the end. Life can be so simple if you let it be. Your videos are so calming. Keep them coming please!
Thanks so much for watching! 💞🥰
Always such beautiful videos , my darling grand parents lived like this . And I’m so blessed to have most of her things as I’m a true vintage girl at heart . I work full time as I own a business but I still look after my husband and home and he looks after me . We love our vintage traditions that we do . And we have been happily married for 25 years . Thank you for your channel it makes me feel normal xxx have a great day
Thank you so much for watching! Xx 💕😊
I’ve realised I own the same lippy Sage touches up in this video. It’s a lovely shade.
I never paid it any mind but am thinking of buying it tonight & giving it a try. I work nights and clean & cook & make sure our kid does his homework & take care of the pets. It’s exhausting but I’m trying to find some time for me in the process.
Ponds is also in Walmart I think.
I loved this video! Thank you so much!! These really help me reconnect with values and habits that I want to keep in my life but keep forgetting xx you are a healthy and enjoyable reminder to live one step at a time and take time to enjoy the little things in life xx keep it up!!
That means so much, thank you! 💕✨
You are so gorgeous! You definitely give me the 1950’s vibe :)
Aw thank you! 💞
I love these videos. I think you do an excellent job at giving everyone a look into the past. I remember some of the breakfast and dinner recipes you make that my Mom made for us back on the late fifties.
This kinda reminds me of the show "BEWITCHED" .
Your videos are THE BEST. I've been looking for videos like this for months. I wish you had more videos 🥺😭
Aw thanks so much! ☺️
Yay! Just got notified so had to stop what I was watching so I could check this out!😊
So adorable! Dinner looked amazing! I can't wait for your cooking show! Love how James dressed up for this one 😉 You guys are too cute. And wow so amazing to see your beautiful yard and garden. Living in MN and been stuck inside due to subzero temps for a couple weeks. Lovely to see all the green! Thank you for your lovely content 🥰
Aw you are the sweetest! Thanks so much for watching! Xx 💞
I wish life was always like this... i absolutely love this video! My grandma was born in 1950. Love this!
Really love your routine videos! They're like watching a good old classic relaxing movie🥰
Thanks so much! 😊💕
I loved everything about this video 😍 so dreamy and simple and wholesome and lovely. Would love to see more videos like this!
Rebecca is my absolute favorite book!
I hope you get to be a housewife someday! I just started following but I really enjoy your content and it's what my life was prior to my 1&2 yo. I imagine it'll be this way again once they are grown and making their own homestead. I absolutely love being a homemaker, wife and mother.
I own that Betty Crocker cookbook that you referenced. It's so cute!
Ohh, I wish I owned that one! I found the recipe online! 😊
@@SageLilleyman I hope your able to get it soon. I'd really enjoy seeing you cook a bunch of the recipes from it. You'd be perfect for that! Also another book that would be perfect for you (because I believe it is just you and your husband) is Betty Crocker's Dinner for Two cookbook. That would be FUN! Keep up the great work!
@@shells4kids987 Ohhh that sounds like a great cook book, I’ll have to keep an eye out! Thanks! 😊💕
I have a toddler and life just feels like so hectic , these videos are so relaxing 😌

I am glad iv come across your channel it's made me really appreciate my role as a wife an a mum an how important the role is to serve your family by cleaning an cooking an also looking after yourself..love your hair an lovely dresses 🙂
Your videos make me smile! So sweet and well done. You should do a video on how they threw parties back in the 50s
I want to see a 1950's full day with kids ... Cause I would love to do these things but it seems impossible with babies
With one five month old, it's somewhat possible. With two or three kids under five, it's nooot going to go like this, lol.
The secret is a lot of those women drank or did prescription drugs unfortunately
they have helpers back then
Oh and they smoked cigs too
I have a 3 yr old and a 5 yr old.
I love your morning and night routines. Also love seeing what you get up to. I'd love to go back to the 1950s I love everything about it. Xxx
I can’t remember how I found your channel but I am glad I did 😊 Never knew this was the wholesome content I needed
Aww hehe! xx
Dinner looked amazing, your dress is gorgeous and James looked very nice. Thank you for another wonderful video.
this is the style that I want us to come back to!
Absolutely , just even caring for each other would be nice . X
good luck fighting the Femnazis over that one....
@@jdamommio they don't seem to bother her, thank goodness!
@@vandoor6237 women haven't been denied careers for decades now. I'm sure yours won't be any different.
@@vandoor6237 now is not idyllic either. No time period has been idyllic. Just life I guess.
So glad i was a part of that 😊
Was your aunt Ms. Brown or related to her?
@@kavyrose4016 no, their last name is Lively. Thanks for asking, it brought back many nice memories. Debbie
The careful editing around the 'Fright Night' that ACTUALLY occurs when removing one's makeup with Ponds is not lost on me. 👍😂
Thank you so much for making a evening routine from the 1950's! It motivates me to switch it up and I would love to do this myself! What card games do you and James enjoy playing together after dinner? ☺️
This video is me when I actually take my ADHD medication
lmaoo
Damn, I need to increase my dosage
LMAO 🤣👍🏻
I'm laughing so hard😂
Don't you think that is a bit much to say online
These videos are always do calming to me. It really makes me want to try to live like this for a day just for fun. 😊
After watching this
I think i got a old soul
Never thought i will enjoy it
Thank u for this this was beautiful
Thanks so much for watching! 💕
Sage. I absolutely love the videos of what it was like living in the past decades. It is so interesting to me. You also do a great job at it. Can you make more videos of what life was like way back when?
Please make a video on Man’s life in 50’s. Wanted to enjoy the other side as well !!
That orange bar of 'pears soap" dates back to the early 1900s . Sage is really going 'rustic" !.
I have to say that your vids are giving so much joy, before going to bed tonight👌🥰 and they also are relaxing
I love watching you find the joy in the little moments 💚
Everytime I get your notification, I know it's noon here in Los Angeles
Another great one, Sage. Re the Ponds Cleansing Cream - I' don't like to say how old I am but since I grew up in the 50s you can probably guess. I started using Ponds in my teens and I'm still using it.
That is wonderful you have been using Ponds cold cream for so long! 😍💞
I like the fact that your husband is also appearing in the vid and going along with the role💚
Ur voice is so soothing after a long day at work
