TL;DR: Chuck ignores 170 years of scientific discovery, probably because it’s easier than dealing with the complexity of the current state of the relevant topics.
This guy needs to call in to shows with biologists on. Watching Aron Ra and Forrest Valkia alone is enough to understand it is not JUST natural selection, there are a lot of factors. Stop referencing 200 year old science knowledge
Yup, the big problem with many theists is they want to say one thing is at play. They often will say natural selection isn't enough... or "mutations aren't enough," but they don't tend to realize that mutations, natural selection, and other factors are all in play at the same time.
Heard a newer chuck call from this past weekend, 5 years after this airing. He didn’t have much to begin with but he’s really deteriorated. Religion is a poison.
Yeah, appeal to authority is a logical fallacy. Btw, as a friendly note, I believe you meant citing, with cite as the root word, so he was citing atheists.
@Byorin oh yes you are right thank you, for some reason in my mind I always think the cite you are talking about is spelled the same as the vision sight, I don't know why my brain does that but it does
@ It’s cool. What you said makes sense to me. Sight should be the word because we do “see” the quoted person in our mind and we are influencing the listener to do the same 😃
The other "agent" (aspect) is mutation. Mutation and natural selection; that's been the pair the whole time. Mutate means change. There's nothing to select for or against until there's a change. Natural selection is not an agent; it's a blind process of the continuance of what works well enough or better and the disappearance of what doesn't work well enough (in this particular context, given the circumstances, not anymore at least, sorry old chap, ☠).
Natural selection makes sense, even common sense up to a point. Whether it is sufficient to explain the order and variety of biological life is a further question. It is not sufficient to explain human cognitive abilities. The teleological target of human cognition is truth versus falsehood. At best natural selection preserves useful beliefs, but they don’t have to be true.
Do you think that slavery is wonderful? *Leviticus 25: 44-45 KJV* This bible verse tells you that it's okay to buy slaves from other nations as well as foreigners who live among you. Do you think that slavery is moral? If no, then why didn't your god simply say "Thou shalt not own humans like property"? Not to forget *Numbers 31: 17-18 KJV*
There were young women and girls kept as war trophies by your god's "chosen" people. *Numbers 31:9 KJV* And the children of Israel *took all the women of Midian captives, and their little ones,* and took the spoil of all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods. *Exodus 21:2 KJV* If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing. *Non-Hebrew "servants" were kept for life instead of freeing them.* And since when can you *BUY servants instead of hiring* them?
Why doesn't *Leviticus 25:44-45 KJV* talk about servants and instead mentions bondmen/bondmaids (archaic for slaves)? In which reality are servants your money as if they belong to you like property? *Exodus 21:20-21 KJV* And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished. Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: *for he is his money.*
Why should servants fear their employ- er, I mean master? *Ephesians 6:5 KJV* "Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, *with fear and trembling,* in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;" Why should servants fear god if he is loving and good? *Colossians 3:22-4:1 KJV* Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, *fearing God;*

Maaan this is why Matt gets so furious when he gets interrupted! This Chuck guy is insufferable
Exactly! Matt gets a bad rap. I couldn’t deal with people like chuck either. Especially for as long as Matt’s been doing it. It has to get tiring.
@@dylanpatterson7149 I could never last as long without becoming ''full on'' sarcastic and cynical!

@VDxVicious yes, all the more so. As mentioned, a biologist. Not sure if this is agreeing or challenging....

First you 'find' God, then you try to bend everything to your discovery. Inevitably, it will suck.
11:40 "the mechanism would be god." WTF.
But the fossil record does support natural selection and the gaps are being filled.

First half of Francis Collins' Language of God gives a beautiful description of how we know evolution happens from dna
Why does chuck keep citing atheists for his proof that God exists?, this always baffles me the "but (insert atheist) says ________, which proves god"

Which is funny, because Christians scientists are some of the leading researchers when it comes to evolution. Lol.
Yet another armchair evolution denier without a background or a clue. Nothing to see here besides a little Dunning Kruger action.
And the "armchair evolution denier" should Shut His Piehole 😂
Is this the comic book store owner from the Simpsons?

Makes an unsubstantiated claim based on a snippet written im an old book
How surprised was I when he said he believed in a god....
This was a pretty bad discussion from both sides.
