    Thank you for your expert instructions. Even though they showed me how to do it at the clinic, the extra information you provide is golden. I was able to accomplish the task without discomfort to my dog.

    I would have liked to see the "one fluid motion" injection move.

    Is it okay to put dog/cat lidocaine at the needle insertion point to help lesson the pain of the stick? I’m careful to use one fluid motion when inserting the needle, but she still feels it. I do move around to different location giving a few days before I go back to a previously used area. But she still feels it too much for my liking. If not lidocaine, what can we do to desensitize the area before administering the fluid?

      How to warm? Is room temperature ok?

      @@winchick3954put fluid bag in a bath of hot water. Not hot enough that you can’t submerge your hand and keep it there. Never give room temp fluids except if animal is overheating.

    Good instructions although I found it odd that you didn’t show the needle going into the skin. Also I would add to use numbing cream like Zensa.

    I would have let the fluid momentarily run through the line to purge the line of air before I put the needle on.

    is there any need to sterilize/prep the skin? can’t they get infection from the dirty skin/fur? i would think need to shave and clean with alcohol or something

    • @bethyoung8646
      @bethyoung8646 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use alcohol on a clean towel and put on his skin first. I also use alcohol on the end before and after I put a new needle on. Making sure to cap it quickly.

    Is 250ml too much fluid for a 28lb puppy that is no more than 5% dehydrated

    • @bethyoung8646
      @bethyoung8646 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am told to give me 21 lbs 150-200ml at a time. So 28lb you should be ok.

    Why is it ok to do this to dogs but not humans? Why not in vein??
