      Yeah bro the first time I switched with a hard screen, I could easily see that it was cheap. After 1 month I found a refubish company that sold screens cheaper than aftermarket screens and from that day on I only held with the refurbish which can never let you down! :-)

      @@lifehackerhansol LCD is the best for ppl that use the phone a lot (not as a replacement for OLED equipped phones, but as an original LCD phone like the iPhone Xr). All those stupid OLEDs have burned in on me. Keyboard is burned in on my iPhone X. I can see it overlayed on all apps. Also WAZE is burned in. Stupid poop display. LCD is infinitely better. That at least does not break like the useless OLED display. Yes, OLED looks better to the eye, but it is NOT reliable. It degrades very fast.

    • @lifehackerhansol
      @lifehackerhansol 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Samosayummyyay oh no, that's not what I meant at all. I meant to get the display that matches the technology of the one that came with the phone.
      Say, if for some reason there is an OLED panel for your LCD phone, don't get that, get the LCD. In the case of an iPhone past the iPhone X, it would make more sense to buy an OLED panel since that's what it comes with. There's much less headache that way, especially if you want to use your old case.
      I got an LCD panel for my Galaxy S4 once, and I could no longer fit my OtterBox case on it anymore. I'm more careful of replacement parts after that.

  • @robinrai4973

    A few more general differences:
    - A decent LCD should have good viewing angles
    - LCD has slower response times, so things like scrolling will look blurrier
    - OLED has true blacks, since the pixels just turn off, instead of trying to block the backlight light from coming through

    I replaced the LCD on my iPhone 8, the first one I ordered was damaged, and they sent a free replacement. It was $32.99 on Amazon and I got good tools, and I got to keep the damaged screen, so the replacement front camera might be able to be reused. It comes with a screw mat, good tools, screen protector, and waterproof seal. Sadly, I broke the home button.

    I'd really like a video showing touch performance of aftermarket. Because even refubished has an aftermarket touch digitiser.
    eg accuracy (perhaps drawing with a ruler and a conductive tipped pen), update speed using a slow motion camera, edge accuracy so it doesn't bleed over the bevels, distance to activation (as some can activate slightly before you actually touch), 3d touch consistancy and sensitivity (using something like the Roli 5d keyboard or Garageband). Thanks!

    Keep in mind though refurbished OLEDs might also come cheaper if they come with certain burn ins. Finding one in A quality with no burn ins is indeed very expensive. Finding B grade ones can be a cost saving measure if small amounts of burn ins dont matter to you

    • @s2000.
      @s2000. 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is the biggest issue I've found with refurbs. It has been very difficult getting an display with even and not discolored gray colors. 2/3 displays had big green tint. 1 of them was decent so I got it. Now I wonder if I should've pushed to see more panels or maybe gone for a good aftermarket one, since the one I got isn't good as the original one as well.

    • @kztech1319
      @kztech1319 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@s2000. If you look at more reputable sellers (as opposed to be the cheapest thing you can find on ebay), they will usually tell you specifically for each panel what is wrong with it, or at least give you a letter to tell you what grade it is. If you get a B grade panel, burn ins are to be expected, and black spots for C grade. My Galaxy S5 panel has typical burn ins on the top status bar, and the S7 panel has more severe burn ins, but fortunately they don't have any discolourations or dimples or such major problems
      This guy will recommend ifixit panels, but you can see those panels are not worth it if you are fixing a 4+ year old device

      Unless it's from Aliexpress, because to their sellers "high quality third party" is what makes it "oem" and will advertise it as such. Already fell for it once, fortunately I got my money back. It's safer when they say the screen is "used", because then you know the screen is the original one that they refurbished.

    I got an LCD display for my OnePlus 5 as I was tired of breaking OLED screens. If left on for a long time, the bottom of the phone gets really hot, only on the screen side, most likely when stepping up the voltage for the backlight and the backlight brightness changes in 5 steps and the screen seems to run at 30Hz. Are these phone screens or F1 tire type? Soft medium hard.

    Nice video and thanks for the comparison. From watching this, I would probably go Soft OLED, since the LCD is inferior in terms of viewing angles and display, the Hard OLED is too fragile, and the OEM (albeit the best) is likely going to be too expensive. Having said that, I'd go OEM if the difference was only a few £s.

      Hard OLED isn’t bad at all, he’s scaremongering to an extent. the chances of a hard OLED breaking without the glass also cracking is slim, the damage he is showing is from install error.

      @@giomxx hard old is fragile, I've broken one installing it yesterday and had one I previously replaced also come in without a cracked screen but a cracked oled. I also only replaced phones at school every once in a while, so they are VERY delicate.

      @@giomxxAnother 7 months later Ill also revive it, since it doesnt matter how much time passes, your comment is wrong. Hard oleds are fragile and break easier, I've seen this type of thing happen very often on such replacement parts.
      He was very valid in warning people of its fragility.
