Bought a 2000 LC with 150k miles in 2013 for 12k. It's at 250k now. Largest expenditures were a couple throttle bodies going out, the first was covered under a recall and the 2nd was out of pocket. Factoring in basic maintenance like timing belt changes, spark plugs, etc I've spent less than 15k total. Unbelievable vehicle. When the opportunity arose, paid 26k for a 2010 LC with 170k miles without thinking twice. LC's are their own thing. Once you drive one you get it. Bulletproof engines and the original factory OEM parts rarely need replaced. Do yourself a favor and when you find clean ones that were taken care of, buy them immediately. You won't regret it.
My favourite suv ever! Great choice and taste. It's this guy at 4XOVERLAND, Andrew St.Peter, his love is the 70 series Lj Landcruiser Troopy. Now lives in Perth, West Australia 🇦🇺
I have a 27 year old LC80 petrol. I bought it 17 years ago and it has been used virtually every day since. From long motorway driving, towing a large caravan to just being used as a donkey. Apart from service parts, the original battery was replaced in 2018 and an alternator replaced, it’s still on 100% original parts. I assume the distributor cap wasn’t even removed or replaced when I bought it, I certainly haven’t touched it. Wonderful cars, worth every Penny in fuel 😬
my dad still has his 2000 land cruiser. with over 400,000 miles ok it. although he had to fix a few things the engine runs beautifully. and is still in one piece.

I'm thinking about starting a few Toyota and Lexus lineup from 2000. My sis has a Corolla and that thing is rock solid and reliable as heck.
The 105 is the same, but it comes with a solid front axle that some feel is better for off roading. It's more robust for sure, but not sure if it's better. I think the IFS on the Land Cruisers (including Prados) are proven designs as well.

Grey interior with charcoal exterior preferably 06,07 just are hard to find. I'll just probably import a middle eastern 5mt V8 model instead now that importation is legal.
Exactly, and honestly I have always wanted an 06' 07' with the AHC because I enjoy the ride quality of the air and I'm not going to be 100 miles out in the desert if a bag fails. I drove a 200 series and it didn't have the charm for the 5x price tag. They look amazing and are. I just enjoy a well used but taken care of 100.
@@JakeTieslernot air, it’s hydraulic and there are no bags to fail. Globes can start to loose some nitrogen after a decade or two, but change the fluid every 60k and it’s a solid system. It also doesn’t hard fail, it’s very slow and just results is a slightly harsher ride and sometimes a slight lean if it’s only one or two globes. Shocks and struts can also leak after many many years, but for about $1200 you can do the globes and all struts and shocks in the driveway with common tools and some beer.

@mik.alvarez depends on condition and how well it was maintained - at that price I’d assume rust or bad paint and body or both and not many records - if the opposite then great deal
@@JakeTiesler Thanks for the response. I'm looking at one now with 311k miles on it and got him down to 8k. It’s not a gamble if it doesn’t leak, no rust, drives good and has maintenance records. It’s just a used Toyota and they seem to be pretty reliable! I would take a 300,000 mile one over a 250,000 with bad records and drives bad, not clean etc

It’s crazy I own a 2015 Whippled Mustang, a 2000 Lx470, and a JDM 80 series. You have good taste my friend!
Haha awesome, 🍻
How do you like that 80?!
Send me some 80 series pics here instagram.com/reel/CmIpQWCjH5u/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
That's a beast right there and I can't wait to get my hands on one, American cars? Omg you look at them the wrong way and warning lights come on lol
Awesome video and awesome info. Thank you , I’m in love with all land cruisers series and know how durable they are , but the question is :- why do you say at the video picture ( Don’t buy )?🤔
I appreciate this series of GX ,and if G wishes I believe one day I m gonna own it ,🙏.
@@ayubumbunju1980 🙌🙌🙌
Best 4x4 ever! 100 is the most beautiful, 200 looks too bulky
It really is!
for an LC ,300,000 is just warming up for the millions to follow 💪
That’s right
I'm lookong at a 100 series LC with 310k miles as a secondary vechile my primary is a 4R. I might go get it..
It's a very nice car, for those who can live with the combined 13 mpg fuel economy.
Is this better than the 80 series?
Hey jake! I’m a teenager looking to pick up a Land Cruiser(In the GCC) I’m new to the car world honestly. What do you recommend I look for / watch out for when buying an older Land Cruiser
Yo, look for maintenance records, rust underneath on the frame, car wreck history, aftermarket paint, leaks, noises etc
Let me know if I can help - feel free to send me a message here instagram.com/reel/CqQ0r12D-5t/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
My 96 land cruiser still runs great.
Have owned 2 105s an fz and my current fte converted 105. I still miss the straight 6 petrol. I sold it for less than what they are worth now 3 years
later.
I wish I had never sold my 1999 green rock color you have. I now have an 05.
@@bmcdonald7303 everyone misses them when they seek it - why not the 05? Not the right color?
It's the oil pressure sensor it cost about 60 bucks change it and the oil pressure reads correctly
LC Colorado 3.0 d4d 2001 or 2002 LC Amazon 4.7??
Great review! Are you running wheel spacers in this current set-up?
Yes
It's still a handsome vehicle 24 years later.
Hey Jake! Whats your opinion on the VX100 model with the 4.2 diesel engine, in comparison to the one you got?
Hello! We don’t get them here and I haven’t driven one. I’m assuming it’s more efficient and just as durable if not more.
@@JakeTiesler I see. I'm thinking about getting one myself. But as you said I properly gonna go for the diesel due to the high mpg rate. But yours def. looks lit! I dont know why but I just dig these older builds of cars.
🙏🙌 it’s easy to fall for these old things!
The HDJ100 is a legendary vehicle in Australia. The 1HDFTE 4.2L Turbo is regarded by many as the best engine Toyota ever produced. They stopped production in 2006 but they continue to demand top dollar over here due to their reliability for remote touring
Awesome rig! I've always wanted one but, with our UK gas prices, I'm trying to factor-in all the additional costs before I take the plunge.
I don't want to cheap-out and end up hating it due to the costs.
How do you like the springs vs the AHC system?
I make some trade offs so that it’s worth it for me!
I would prefer a factory suspension because I like quality.
@@JakeTiesler 100% mate. Really good content, just subbed.
Thanks bro 🦍🦍🦍
I have a 2001 Toyota 4Runner with 235k mikes and still running stronger than ever.
Just getting warmed up
@@JakeTiesler you are right about that.
My friend is selling his 98 for 5 grand but it's over 300k miles. Should i do it?
Unless it’s junk yes
Looks in good condition - how is the frame?
Frame good.
@@JakeTiesler That's awesome you lucky you. I'm gonna have to renovate mine. And that wont be cheap xD - I wish you many happy kilometers/miles =)
Thank you brother 🤙
4xOverland. Andrew St. Pierre White is 63. 105 Series is an 80 series with the 100 body. 105 was never offered in the USA. The 105 is the ultimate Landcruiser.
Can you lock the front diff on these, or only the rear?
I’m not rear of it came as an option for 99,00’
2UZ-FE and 1HF-FTE are very reliable engines that Toyota ever produced.
Nice video! This makes video makes me want a 100 series. Super reliable. Have you had a chance to drive an older 60 series or 40 series? I have a 87 fj60 and love it. Way different kinda truck than this tho, wouldn’t wanna drive it in the city all the time
I’d like to drive one eventually
I seen one today on craigslist with 244k Miles for $6,500 obo same color as this one in outstanding shape (exterior) he did not show the interior though but you think it's worth the money?
Really depends, this was same owner for 20 years and had records. The maintenance matters not the mileage on these
My Lexus lx470 has abs and vtrs lights on. What is the fix?
possibly the sensor on the transfer case, its a quick fix but need to look into it more, are you local?
Looks really similar to my 2022 4Runner TRD off-road premium
Sheeeesh sounds nice
How much did you pay for yours? I'm looking at something very similar.
$8500 2000 323,000 and lots of records from original owner
My 98 lx470 has 335,000 lol she runs absolutely perfect.
Heck yeah, love to hear it
dammn bro I was really tryan hold in the cream but it came alllll oooutt bro, even with the fart I could keep le creme da le creme inside my chorice good video congtrast bro
We have 1999 and the mileage more than 300k kh/m and still works fine towing and off road is the best
How much did you pay for it at the time?
$8500
@@JakeTiesler Would you say $5250 for a dark green one at 270,000 miles is a good deal today?
@mik.alvarez depends on condition and how well it was maintained - at that price I’d assume rust or bad paint and body or both and not many records - if the opposite then great deal
Ok so any LC boys out there that can help me? I'm debating buying a 98 Land Cruiser with 225,000 miles. In good shape. What's a fair price?
gotta look at condition first and mileage second
What’s up the the tailgate steel platform?
The guy I bought it from did that, not my favorite but functional for someone who needs a steel platform to work on.
@@JakeTiesler gotcha.
Thank for the video
no I have land cruiser 2000 and i drive 5000,000 miles and sitll its warking
forget the car . nice watch bro 🤩
105 series was and is the last of the true 4x4s 😢
What did you pay for it?
$8500
@@JakeTiesler Thanks for the response. I'm looking at one now with 311k miles on it and got him down to 8k. Seems to have been loved and taken care of-- it had all the regular scheduled maintenance done about 30k miles ago. I still feel like it's a gamble, but seeing you buy yours for 8500 with 325k miles makes me feel a little better.
It’s not a gamble if it doesn’t leak, no rust, drives good and has maintenance records. It’s just a used Toyota and they seem to be pretty reliable! I would take a 300,000 mile one over a 250,000 with bad records and drives bad, not clean etc
I’m thinking of picking up a white 2003 Land Cruiser with 267k miles for 7.5k. Clean carfax
Nice!
@@JakeTiesler would you say that’s a good deal? Or save up for one with lower miles
Depends on the maintenance, the mileage doesn’t matter too much unless you want to flip it
Haven’t seen a comment yet, but nice submariner
Feels really reliable
🦍🦍🦍
Did you sell the sequoia?
Nope still got it, need to do a side by side
@@JakeTiesler looking forward to that.
Does the earlier models of 100's not have bump crank ignition? Try just bumping the key to start position and immediately let loose of key.
They do not
What part of TN are you in?
Videos in Waverly I’m in middle Tennessee
@@JakeTiesler ah! The girlfriend and I were debating where you were. Lol we are in Knoxville, TN. We just picked up an LX470 and love it. Thanks for the super detailed video!

Awesome haha - both great trucks but the landcruiser is special for sureeee
Looking at a 2000 with 282k on the clock.. $9900 🤔
$500 a month on gas? I know a guy spending $600 a week on gas here in California with a Dodge Ram.

LC100?
