I’ve had Callaway Apex, Srixon 565 and Mizuno JPX919 & JPX921 Forged, all lovely feeling irons with enough forgiveness for most golfers. If price isn’t an issue I would always recommend forged or partially forged irons as apart from feel I find the distance consistent. As in no hot spots.

I absolutely agree. No hot spots is a huge one for me.

On bendability, one small point in cast's favor is that the specs are less likely to get knocked out of whack over time. Saves you some hassle and cash in having to get your lofts and lies checked every year!

Unless they get knocked into place by hitting off the turf mats at the range, I check mine by buying a cheap 1 square metre mat from Bunnings and bombing shots into a blanket in my loungeroom. As the club burns through the mat it leaves a green mark on the soul showing the lie.

Hey Greg. Didn’t know you could get forged shafts 😂 😂

Recently tried Mizuno Pro 221 with Project X LS stiff shaft side by side with my cast Cobra Speedback F9 with KBS Tour 90 regular shaft. I find the forged blades harder actually, not soft feel, even on dead center strikes. Is that weird at all?? I’m using the same exact ball too the whole session. Or could it be the grip material thats causing it to feel harder? Mizunos got full cord grip. Cobras got multi-compound.
I find my F9s softer and carries further against a similar lofted iron. I want to switch to forged irons its just I’m not getting the same “soft feel” that most player says.

The problem here is the shaft. You are comparing a low spin stiff shaft to a high spin regular. The regular will always make a club feel softer. More spin = better feel.

@@SydneyGolfTech Thanks so much! I overlooked the shaft flex. I will try a regular flex on a forged head and compare them again. Will be interesting to see if the difference. Cheers! 🍻

You make plenty of sense , I’m mid to high hacker average iron striker but seem to be far more comfortable with smaller forged heads than bigger cast heads

Are they a little loud compared to other irons?
