Thanks for posting this video.I'm having problems with the wiring on my old XT600,it's 32 years old now and I've decided to rewire it.This video is a great source of knowledge for me.Thanks!
#5:05 is what I needed to see! Thank you, your the only person I found that showed and explained what I needed to do. Believe it not, I went to two hardware store and neither had that terminal release tool. 😞 Thanks a million!!! @Islandridersatvmc
Thank you for this video, you're message "you can do it" gave me so much hope man. You're KZ550 is cool!! love the black. About to make a harness for my kz550 D-1
very encouraging! thanks replacing all of the connectors sounds like a great idea but this is also intimidating on an organizational level. is there any place or service where one can just input the moto type and get a list of parts spit out the back end?
Thanks for making video. Just better to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. Electrons flow from negative battery terminal to positive and will so prevent shorts if accidentally touch the bike frame by a component.
Essential Advice: photograph everything before you remove anything! Otherwise you won't know where to route the various sections of the loom. You'll be trying to figure out, "does this go under or over or around" and unless you have those pictures you'll be clueless.
Great Job! What patience and quality work. I was wondering - does the crimper do both crimps at the same time? That is the one on the wire and the one on the insulation. Where did you get the crimper?
Just picked up a new 96 magna. Has some of those electrical ghosts that have been floating around. I'm gonna go ahead and replace the wiring harness and most electrical, any idea on what I should expect to spend to do the harness?
Question for you in regards to your video. At time 7:37, you show a relay and you said new accessory fuse/relay for plugs. Are you referring to Wiredgeorge's website where he shows how to configure a relay to obtain more spark from the coils? If yes, does the relay help (I have a 77 KS650)?
Hey Buddy please help. I need to make a new harness from my stator to the main harness on my KLR650, the amps on the charge circuits are 17 amps, the diameter of the stock wires from the stator is 2mm. What wire do I need to buy it must be max of 2mm diameter to fit through the grommet in the stator case.
ok question i have a head light with plug but one single brown wire, can i extend the brown with black to make a halo ring plug going to the plug on harness without ordering brown wire the plug on harness is for headlights in gear box but the brown in plug is not hooked to anything on other side of plug connected to harness i hope this makes sense in a way ?
Where did you obtain your wires from the wiring harness kit only contains tape and tubing correct? and how much it did it cost you ? Currently thinking of redoing my 550 wiring myself. www.bcpgarage.com seems to be down
Is it possible to obtain the white plastic connectors to replace them? I need to replace the one that connects the stator to the regulator rectifier because it melted, if so where can I get them? Thanks

Mark Foster It's easier to replace than repair in the long run. Just be methodical.
You me both! My old 1986 XT600 Tenere 1VJ needs the same! Seems like we came to the same video for the same bike of the same era!
My 89 XJ600's also about to have a new harness.

Cool ! I'd never done it before either. It's easier than people think.
Exactly what I needed to know about connectors. Great video. thanks a lot
Glad it helped ! Keep 'em runnin' !

search for schematic
Very well job done,

A fantastic job, you need plenty of patience
thanks. patience pays off

SoCal Bruce Yes, crimper does both in one step. Amazon has them, or cycle terminal.
Thanks. I'll get one. I didn't know before watching your video how crappy my wire crimpers are.
Great video.
Looks overwhelming at first.
Was that a multimeter at 2:56?
Seems like one of those can narrow down the wiring problem.
True ! After finding a few issues in the harness itself, replacing it was better than hoping the original wouldn't fail due to its advanced age. 😁
It's called a tester
Great job, how it should be done.
Thanks ! Takes time... but it's worth the piece of mind.

Mine was around $150
Nice recording man!
Christian Jordan Thanks !
You're a brave man with a can do attitude. Fancy relooming my cbr1100xx? ;-)
Wight walker 245 Once you figure out what you need, it isn't that difficult. It was that, or junk the bike. Old wires just don't work that well.
how did you know how much wire to buy? I noticed you already had the kit before it was out of the bike
Adrian Ramirez 8 feet of each color should do the average bike

Far Away No, not for more spark. relay just turns accessory plug on when key is on.
Thanks for the quick reply. I meant KZ650 instead of KS650!

I'd use stock size wire

I've never put one in. Can't help you there, sorry.
Hey I just ordered my new wires and I realised my new wire is slightly thicker then the old wire, will this affect anything?
If only slightly larger , it shouldn't. You may have a hard time fitting things back together though.
@@desrecording thank you it’s on a dirtbike so a lot more wiggle room, I was also wondering where you got your replacement connectors?
@@randomname3665 cycleterminal.com/
bcpgarage.com doesnt seem to work anymore. Do you know of another source of wiring kit? My bike is 36 year old :)
Can you get the main harness for the kawasaki Zx6r 636 2006?
I have no idea. Sorry. Check Z1 enterprises
@@desrecording Alright, thanks for the reply.
Where can I find a wiring diagram for the harness coming from my cluster on my 06 gsxr 600
Google
Hey where did you buy all your wires?
4rcustomswire.com/
@@desrecording you have no fucking idea how long I’ve been trying to find a seller for this type of cable, thank you so so much🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Where did you get the actual wire from?
Spencer Hudzenko It's in the description and previous comments. Thanks !

rac3445 terminalsupplyco.com (and other auto wire suppliers) have wire. My kit came with wire, but their site does seem to be down.
4Rcustomswire.com also has short length wire
Thanks for the quick response!!! I will definitely check them out!
rac3445 4rcustomswire.com or terminalsupplyco.com have wire. bcpgarage seems to have gone away.

ebay
Many people will say you should solder your connections together and then shrink tube them.
very useful!!
I have a klx650 can I wire in my own loom cdi from any bike
Don't know about that, sorry
Holy fuck 😮🙃
