There shouldn't be any Ukrainian scammers, they should be in Poland to work not to sponge off tourists, if they don't want to contribute to the Polish economy, they should go home and help their country in some way. I made my feelings very clear towards one of them mooching around with his little clip board. Krakow is my favourite city and I hate to see Lunkheads on the fiddle, ignore them and you will be fine, thanks Col for your knowledge of this beautiful city. It is nice to see Krakow again. Where the Hard Rock cafe is I remember a Soviet bookshop in the mid 1980's. For good value for money, there are one or two mar mleczny around the town and they tend to be a little cheaper. in the main square, there is an Irish theme bar and beer costs around 25 zloties for a liter glass. I tended to go to the Galeria Krakowska, go upstairs, and go to Carrefour where you can buy your own beer and wine at competitive prices. in the evening if it is cold and windy, treat yourself to a cheap cinema ticket, there is a really nice old-fashioned cinema on the corner of the market square called Pod Barami. For around four pounds you can watch a film be it a Polish film or a foreign film with subtitles. If you go to Auschwitz or the salt mine museum, it is well worth while trying to barter over the prices.

Yes it’s Cheaper but it’s risky because the drivers are erratic, they use drivers who are new in PL from Non EU countries and their driving was poor quality, the standard of car is poor to say the least. I disagree with you on some points here. First the Ukrainian scammers at the Square are the ones with papers and a website. The only legitimate ones that I am aware of are those as part of the twice a day protest (12 to 14 and 20 to 21). They only have one box to collect from directly in front of them. Often scammers wearing Ukrainian flags will be walking around the protest attempting to intercept people from donating to the legitimate protesters. A suggestion for those going to the pole dancing clubs. You are safe with no problems as long as you decide before walking in how much you will spend and NEVER going to the backroom for the private dances. Get a beer or two and enjoy the beautiful girls dance and then leave. If you do more than that, that is when bad things may happen. Good advice in general though.

The shop workers at the market at the cloth hall charge mega high prices so I guess you could consider it a scam.. the bars and restaurants are expensive now because of high inflation here but it’s the Greedy Owners of the bars and restaurants who are responsible. When you have a service charge of 10-15% added on top of your bill then that’s the owners choice not the staff. Well it depends who you meet I also met nice Polish people although in business many Polish people cheated me here because I work in the Tourism industry. Yes Ukranians are now doing the Golf Kart Tours but some powerful Polish gangs run that industry so they can’t step on each others territory here. A dinner entree pretty much in any part of the Kracow center was $4 in the late 90's when I was there, how much is iis it now ? A beer or glass of wine when I was there was about 89 cents with dinner ! Inflation in Poland is only 4.2 pecent right now. The Euro, Covid, the Ukraine war, extra tourism and a fast Polish growing econimy must all have pushed inflation way up ! The studio flat in the center I was going to buy in the late 90's was just $29,000 !
Krakow now has the Highest prices of any City in Eastern Europe! It is still a brilliant city to visit but the prices here at the restaurants and bars are the same price as in a normal town in England. A bottle of house wine is 120 zloty minimum but some places charge 200. A known international branded beer costs 20-30 zloty at most bars and clubs here, a main course is minimum £12 but some meals are over £20, there is a 15% charge on Top of your bill now at some restaurants which is an unpleasant surprise, Designer clothes are double the price compared to the UK, a flat costs the same as in the UK. Other Polish Cities such as Lodz are cheap though but krakow is like the Monaco of Poland

Prices are expensive in Krakow compared to other Polish cities, after Covid the business owners met and colluded to put the prices high to milk more money out of the tourists. I was at a restaurant in the Zablicie a suburb a few days ago and it was 30 zloty (£6) a pint at Salute. Bars in krakow are £4-6 a pint depending on which bar you go and to buy wine at a bar is very expensive £24-40 a bottle! Great city but with prices similar to the UK now. Alcohol is very cheap at the supermarkets here and cigarettes are silly cheap too

Some good news coming out of Poland, Polish authorities will ensure young Ukrainian men living in Poland who are eligible for military service will be returned to the Ukraine, hopefully, some of those scammers will have to go back and serve their country as they should do 👍

Krakow is scam city. I am so dissapointed in my recent visit 😮 also some locals are very rude to tourists and gang up with shop keepers to scam them
I Agree that there are more Scams in Krakow than in other Polish Cities but in Krakow there is also Amazing Architecture and so many things to see and do. What happened exactly? Please share how you got scammed to protect others..

During my visit to Kraków last year with my youngest son, I was struck by the relatively low prices at the old market place, especially in comparison to Canada. We encountered Ukrainian war scammers but rejected their advances. I'm now looking forward to experiencing Krakow's enchanting Christmas market this holiday season.

Some good news coming out of Poland, Polish authorities will ensure young Ukrainian men living in Poland who are eligible for military service will be returned to the Ukraine, hopefully, some of those scammers will have to go back and serve their country as they should do 👍
👍 They should have gone to Krakow main market square today there were loads of guys approaching me over and over again asking for Money for Ukraine, I was approached a number of times, they use high pressure sales techniques too. I’m glad that Biden has just given a $61 💵 aid Deal to Ukraine to help them fight this terrorism anyway
Watch out for the Ukrainians by the statue alot of them approach the British and Americans asking for money for Ukrainian although I seen most of them are whipping out their latest Iphones they should maybe they should sell their newest phones and donate that to help their own country for example
