- A point of calm! It was such a joy to work with Kiana, who's a complete and utter legend, on this song. I engineered all her vocals from quarantine, 8,000km apart, in real-time, over remote desktop! The cyclic ending, “Counting sheep, I’m in too deep, you’re mine to keep, you’re fast asleep” is one of my most favourite moments on the album. :-)

what if I do Bb ?
Hell yes.
@@user-uu5xf5xc2b Such 2-dimensional thought. Show me A# mind!
feels like your sinking in quick sand made of love
The low notes tickle a part of my brain I didn’t even know existed
That, my friend, is the beauty oft Bass
@@DBLAZHEV sweeet bass baybeeee
@@christiankuziara8355 hyees!
I feel exactly the same, Jacob is like a rainbow of new colors touching the sound and soul
The 808’s? That’s like in every single trap song, you hear it everywhere on mainstream stuff
omygod that bass wear headphones guys
I read this comment and knew it was one of those songs. Never ran to my headphones so fast
Orion James Same!
My Bose Quiet Comfort 35 noise canceling headphones NEVER fail me 🎧🙃😁😷
@@l.daniels168 Those overamplify the bass so much I had to return them though. Ended up just buying some reference headphones and they feel just right, especially on this album
Sounded amazing on Beyerdynamic DT880 :) My Audio Grado SR-80's had slightly less bass, but both are stellar
* Jacob drops a new track *
* Finds the good headphones *
What headphones?
mygod isn't this true! WTF
My god, lord I know I do...
It tickles my soul 🔥
true.
Jacob, the one who is unfairly good at music.
"that guy is obnoxiously good at music"
~we should all know who said this by now 😂
SMOOTHIE SOUNDZ Adam is spitting facts though. It’s unfair😂
SMOOTHIE SOUNDZ everyone should have said this by now :)
It's only unfair if he doesn't use it well.
@@samkeen give it a try.
C'mon now just say it out loud even, nobody will know but us I promise bro it'll change ya life 😂
this song is hitting different
Since this album was R&B/Hip hop inspired I’m putting in a guess that is he next album will be microtonal black metal with sounds sampled from his trash can
There are a few sounds from the next album on his site, it's pretty dope
Dude this comment actually made me fall over
Jacob also said that we have some "spoilers" in the intro track.
He actually said in his paiste studio session that the 4th album will be focused on the human voice
I'd be sou about this. ..ahnd hearing him perfect that genre next wvould hurt my ego a bit.
when I tell you my jaw dropped on the first note-
the bass at the start literally made my brain shut down
Had to restart my whole system 🔥
This is Jacob's beautiful answer to the endless parade of homogenized pasteurized hip hop/urban soul disasters we've been forced to endure for the last 10 years. If you're going to sync the bass to the kick....do something like this.
I fuckin' melted
I was delighted to hear this song being played at McDonald's in Japan recently.
Why does that make such perfect sense to me?
Thanks for sharing that, loved it.
yeah amazing! Thanks.
Jacob and Kiana's voice meld together so perfectly 😍
The you and the steering wheel ... melded together
@@tylerkolb2277 aww thanks mate!....i was just waiting for someone smart to say something like that 👆.....💀
well, technically they're all alone, so can't meld
Other musicians: polyrhythms are cool
Jacob: all the rhythms are cool
omnirhythms are cool
Other musicians: polytonalities are cool
Jacob: all the tonalities are cool
What's your point 🤔
@@theninja9383 👉
So... panrhythms? Pantonality?
I literally don't know what else he has to do in the fourth album, he's covered so many bases already and PERFECTLY every single one of them
I remember that he said in one performance/interview that the djesse albums are like parts of a day. Djesse vol 1 is the morning, 2 is the afternoon/day, and 3 is the night. Then 4 is the combination of all of these
He has no limits
Black metal?
@@NerrdyPig If the vol. 4 is a combination of all of them. I literally can't imagine what it's gonna sound like.
@@ale2thec maybe some jacob feat slipknot would be awesome
The lyrics are pure love, and the ending is a lullaby. It's a very beautiful way to convey the acceptance of a parting, by comforting and putting those lonesome, desperate feelings to rest.
This song is so underrated it hurts.
For real. Continuing the legacy of body roll inducing Collier slow jams
frfr
Can't believe I just discovered it today 😭😭😭
To be honest, I always skipped this one until I heard it live and got blown away
I did not expect to hear that percussive pattern on a Jacob Collier track but damn this slaps. Much love Jacob, you inspire me every day.
His idea with these albums is to explore different feels and genres so the only unexpected thing would be something you'd expect!
@@elikfriend Actually yeah man you're right.
Agreed papito
Ikr didn't expected it at all!!!
But he didn't totally pop'ify the song, just listen closely to the pattern, it's got a rhythm and a kinda small melody, that's what I incurred from it!!
@@pranavrk9752 You make an excellent point mate. On the other hand, I don't think that pop is bad, I just wish that pop artists explore music in the way Jacob does. Be willing to try the weird thing.
This song is so so so underrated. Half the world is missing out big time.
When this this song is actually the most perfect thing ever
That final section did things to me. I love how bare and vulnerable he's being with this album. And omg the feature!!!! Her voice just FIT
I have a feeling that if Jacob upload a MV for this one,
it will break the internet.
I hope so, its time for a positive change and this is the perfect way to do it.
I love the calm. It is calm but not for lack of sophistication. What a piece and what a collab! The deep masculine yet vulnerable voice is well embraced by Kiana's beautiful, voice. Well done.
I bet Jacob’s counting sheep now that he’s finished with his masterpiece album
You'll never convince me a mind capable of creating this album could ever sleep.
he probably working on the extended version 😂
one more to go yet in the djesse series
There's still vol. 4 yet to come out
Working on Vol. 4 for sure
"I miss you more than I let on. You know that. " I've yet to get over that line.
One of my favourite Jacob Collier songs of all time. The baritone notes and the bass are just so relaxing and incredibly written (no surprise coming from him)
I agree
The lyrics to this song really tell a story...he’s a very underrated songwriter 🔥
[Intro: Jacob Collier]
You're fast asleep I'm
I'm counting sheep
I'm in too deep
I'm in too deep
[Verse 1: Jacob Collier]
You been making me feel like I'm lonely, baby
I don't know what I did wrong
I don't know what
Lately I been driving myself crazy, baby (Oh, oh)
Girl you left me all alone, you know that
[Chorus: Jacob Collier]
Did I forget to feel?
Everything is falling down
Baby, this old world is nothing without you
I don't know what I can do
I thought it was real
But girl you got me crashing down
Baby, I still love you, Lord, I know it's true
I don't know what I am to you
Now I'm all alone
[Instrumental Break]
[Verse 2: Kiana Ledé, Jacob Collier]
Something in me hopes that you still love me, baby (Oh yeah)
But I know you been moving on, I know that (Hey)
Thinking like I been feeling this without you, baby (Oh babe)
I miss you more than I let on, you know that
[Chorus: Kiana Ledé]
When our love was new
I remember holding you
Hoping everything you needed I could do
That I could do it all for you
I wish that it was true
But boy you left me here too long
Thinking I still love you, Lord I know I do
But I'm never coming back to you
Now I'm on my own
[Outro: Jacob Collier & Kiana Ledé]
Now I'm on my own
On my own
Now I'm all alone
Counting sheep
I'm in too deep
You're mine to keep
You're fast asleep
I'm counting sheep
I'm in too deep
You're mine to keep
You're fast asleep
Now I'm all alone
Counting sheep
I'm in too deep
You're mine to keep
You're fast asleep
I'm counting sheep
I'm in too deep
You're mine to keep
You're fast asleep
Now I'm on my own
Counting sheep
I'm in too deep
You're mine to keep
You're fast asleep
Now I'm on my own
I'm counting sheep
I'm in too deep
You're mine to keep
You're fast asleep
I'm counting sheep
I'm in too deep
You're mine to keep
You're fast asleep, I'm
This is the underapreciated gem of the album
“I think that this is my new favorite song on the album” -Me after listening to every song on Djesse Vol. 3. It’s hard to have a favorite song of Jacobs when he’s just so amazingly talented that all of his songs on the album are your favorite. I just can’t choose one 🤷🏻♀️
Yeah Djesse 3 is gonna be his best album for sure. Every song is fire.
right??? I'm still a sucker for djesse vol. 2 and its sweet sounds, but this is SO GROOVY
Dan Perez I LOVE it
Beatriz T me too! But it truly is so groovy and let’s just say I’m here for it!
I feel u
Here it is folks, one of the most easily digestible songs from Jacob and I'm living for it
The hi-hat isn't overpowering the mix. Such an overlooked trait in the genre.
This song is extremely soothing, evoking varied emotions; calm yet romantically anxious. You should definitely continue trying your hand at this R&B vibe!
I swear to god if any one of these songs in album 3 fires him to a pop song category in Grammy, you know he is redefining the whole of music industry
He is already doing it.
Yes...and hopefully the next Grammy is a different musical tone than the others...
Please. Modern mainstream pop for the most part is terrible.
I'm discovering his music after the Grammy nominations for 2021
3 months later and it's been nominated for album of the year
This song hits you so deep yet it's Simplicity is Sublime. Truly a master elite craftsman composer and musician. The ability to write music in almost any genre the way he does is other worldly. Jacob has sucked all of us in with his remarkable hypnotic genius. Is he a Jedi or is the dark side of the force strong with him... I'm beginning to wonder.
Love the use of the sound of Japanese koto between verses!
I don’t know if anyone else has talked about it, but I just noticed that his line “You’ve been making me feel like I’m…” has been sampled in SZA’s Good Days
He helped produce that song fun fact lol you can hear him singing backgrounds too
And the Pentatonic licks with the “koto” sound are so crisp. Love to improvise over the ending with endless harmonies!!
don’t make me toss my shoe. the way this just rides through the r&bverse is just-
This. Right. Here.
From goosebumps to tears.
Rnb is back yall
That Run Kiana 😭😭😭
Okay. This song is my favorite song of the year until further notice 🥺
For me, it's surprising the fact that he's able to make something really simple (in comparison of what he normally do) and it still sounds better than regular simple music nowadays
i legitimately had to put down my phone and just sit there with my jaw dropped when that bass kicked in.... this song is godly
Man, I really adore what Jacob's been up to lately. So much emotion, soul, and love. Still got the prodigious talent, but that's not the main point.
“In Too Deep” makes sense with all that *BASS*
A Jacob Collier album always falls in my lap right when i need it. As of now this is my favorite track
bruUUUUHHHHH BOTH THE ACOUSTIC AND THE ORIG ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD HSKFHSKSHDKSKHS
this song made me '😫' the entire time
Taste like peppermint 🥰
Right?
I think this song is Jacob’s best song as far as how well the lyrics worked
I wish I had a fraction of his talent. My god, he's done it again.
THIS SONG IS BEAUTIFUL
Ooh this is swell also Jacob I love you
Get to work buddy
@@milesburke3858 Indeed
you're also swell also i love you Jason :000
Goodluck sir
Get to work, Jason...
I am insanely curious about the relationship that sparked the writing of this song. Wow....I just can’t with the depth of this song. Every single song on this album has such depth.
Instant favorite Jacob Collier track :)
The beat is so chill and romantic, the beginning though, it makes me feel so calm, as if I’m resonating with nature! Almost like Good days from SZA 💯
Vol 3 more introspective. One of the joys of Covid has been going inside; I've got in touch with my inner world and I feel Jacobs done the same in many of these songs. The harmonic complexity is turned inwards and pulling me down and in rather than up and out as his earlier work tended to
Can't believe it just found this guy watching a bbc programme I'm blown away he I'd a.musical genius and it is nice to actually be proud of something from england again
he do be making this smooth music tho
The bass and harmony are ridonkulous 🎼🔥
I like how Jacob Collier usually uses miles upon miles of chords and notes in his music, but when he takes them away it's still just as good.
I love this song… I’m happy to have found Jacob! Everything he releases in the atmosphere is amazing
This is so relaxing. I love it! It's minimalist, while being anything but minimalist.
This deserves EVERYTHING. Just discovered him yesterday and now I own everything he’s ever released.
Welcome to the parallel universe 😊
@@achenarmyst2156 🙃
Easily my favorite song on the album
Everything in this song just feels.... so right...
I refuse to let this song die out till I get a full remix with a church choir, EVERYONE BOOST THIS I NEEEED IT
I love him so much. My literal everything. I'm crying at the beauty of this.
Annie Hochberg word
Omg, so much love in your words.
Jacob Collier is the goat of music. I know that is a statement based on one persons perspective/opinion but I've truly never seen anyone as good at doing this music thing than him....its actually astonishing.
the best part is he is still young...
This is definitely more different than anything I have ever heard from him... and I love it
If the beginning track is the creation of the universe, I can only imagine that this is the start of life..
*Counting sheep, I’m in too deep, you’re mine to keep, you’re fast asleep*
This and "He Won't Hold You" are my favorites. Just so beautiful.
I haven’t finished the song yet, it gets to the outro and I just go back to the beginning. Went back 4 times already. This song isn’t supposed to end.
This is the best one on this album, I love it
Simply outstanding Jacob nobody comes close.....the Stevie of our time astonishing..........gifted beyond reason
Thats why musicians love Jacob. Cause he is actually using all the ideas - the theory, that most us just ..cant.
Hey Jacob, you're the reason I got the courage to start my journey as a musician young. You're the best.
If you read this, I hope your day is going great, and good things will continue happening with you in the future.
Hey just wanted to say goodluck man
The ending of this song is just pure fire!
I love how the stars blink in coordination with the bass rhythm. All in the details!
Great! Thanks for posting 👍
By the time I opened my eyes at the end of the song, tears had rolled down my face and I didn’t even know. Bravo, Jacob.
wow, this song hits home, me and my brother played this at a bar, and the vibes were amazing. Thank you so much Jacob for making this song. I am such a huge fan.
How fast, changeable and difficult to control life is... I think of those I met, and those that this trajectory has led me astray. I just follow my path, built by affection. This one made me cry. Thank you, Jacob ✨
i didn't know how much i needed this. felt like a warm embrace from someone i miss dearly.
Can't stop listening!
This track makes me Levitate! I Always see amazing colors with my Third Eye when I listen to your music, Jacob! 🪐
Ironically this song is going to keep me up all night . 🔥🔥🔥
JC be taking over the pop industry, one song at a time :D
Good. SOMEONE needed to!! Well done!!!
Layers & layers of sound, overlapping, merging into each othe. Accentuating repeating themes, bringing some of the background into the foreground. This is masterful.
This is amazing in so many ways, but how about a round of digital applause for the sonic impeccablity!
GREAT song. You could even play it in radio! 😀
Hope its rightly written 😂
the most beautiful song..... I love this. I mean the instruments used in this song are just melodious.... Love you Jacob
Im always down for some new Kiana Ledé music. She's so underrated
I agree 😫
This had been on repeat for weeks. Literally I feel everything listening to the words melodies the two breath taking voices WOW!! 🌬💙🌬💙🌬💙🥰🥰
kianaaaaaaaa!!!!!!! never disappoints
legit cried at how good the bass was
This is Jacob's beautiful answer to the endless parade of homogenized pasteurized hip hop/urban soul disasters we've been forced to endure for the last 10 years. If you're going to sync the bass to the kick....do something like this.
Wow. This song is so good. When a technical savant and incredible artist like Kiana and a theoretical and mechanical genius in Jacob Collier come together,
something greater than the rest is created.
Me: clicks on Jacobs new song.
My brain: listens... “so, this means 2020 is finally over?”
Me: no brain, it’s just finally manageable.
YES!
I feel the exact same way.
Yes, tyvm, Jacob
Mooodddd😂
Omg, I totally forgot what year I was in, drifting away into this song
Man I just found him today and ugh I wish I had music knowledge like his fans have! So jealous of ppl who can read music! This song is a vibe!
nah man, you don't need theory to enjoy this.
Just sit back and vibe with it.
Major R&B and trap vibes!!! That was my initial reaction when I heard this!
Beautiful song iv just found jacob and am in awe of his talent he is beyond brilliant
Totally in love with this... My fav song in the album.
I don’t know how to explain this but the place the voice sounds feels like it’s a thought inside my own head
