I don’t even have a dirtbike but I like this dudes videos.
Running them tight like this creates stiffness in the bars and doesn't allow for the natural flex of the handlebars and if there's a crash or impact, you can bend the wrap around or bind the bolts in the mounts.
Keeping a nylon washer and just barely snug on the bolt/bar mount connection and the bar mount snug, but not too tight allows natural flex of bars and keeps the wrap arounds from bending and binding.
All advice I learned years ago from Veteran Enduro rider's up here in the PNW.
Been mounting wrap around since the original Bark Busters this way and still protects levers and hands, but loose enough to all bars to flex and not bind or bend the wrap arounds on impact.

Having swapped my wrap around a for flag type on my dual sport was a mistake. Recently was going up a very steep rocky hill and got knocked offline and ran my throttle hand right into a tree. Broke two fingers between the flag guard and the bars.. going back to full wraps.

Great video. I have specifically not bought ODI lock on grips because they don't say they work for wrap around hand guards. Good to know they do work. I won't ride a bike without wrap around as my right hand is permanently scared from not having them.

I trimmed the throttle grip end off after popping out the cap but did not realize that I still had a little room to move the ignition/kill switch. There is a slight gap between the plastic throttle tube and the bar. Should I still be fine?
I have odi grips and wrap around hand guards. I have side to side play, enough that it feels sketchy. Any tips?

AFTER INSTALLING THESE GRIPS MY THROTTLE STICKS SO BADLY. I don’t understand what’s going on with it. 2007 crf250r.
Loosen your throttle tube bolts and slide the throttle tube inwards like a millimeter. That way the guard is not rubbing on your throttle.
I saw a blatant OSHA Violation by your assistant Spencer. Sandals on the work shop floor are a huge no no. I’ll take an XL Dirt Bike TV t-shirt NOT to report youse guys. Pay me now or pay me later as the old saying goes.
