Very interesting video. I have used a couple of these and almost went with the other. I'm excited about the new emigs but the amount of adjustment those defy grips have would come in handy. Especially with the first emigs the name needs to be even haha
Might have been ur best video yet......not sure if this is a normal problem but here we go. I have used the ODI V2 Emig for a few years now and recently got a new YZ high PT bar. When installing the clutch side I had the sand down the bar to fit the grip on. Ever heard of this issue?
Yes that is not uncommon actually. On our newest video about the Odi V2 Emig Pro grips a few people left comments about that issue also. Glad you were able to get them on there!
It will definitely take some effort. It doesn't just pop out. But if you got creative enough, i'm sure you could make it work. They feel awesome.-Chase
I haven't been able to find any Full Waffle lock-ons here in the UK which is a shame, but I'd never go back to conventional grips after trying lock-ons.
I’m new to riding so I don’t know very much but do you have to get certain grip size for certain dirt bike and what is full wrap around hand guard I ride a crf125f and I want red grips with lock ons what would y’all suggest
A full wrap around handguard is one that mounts to your handlebars on the inside and outside of each grip (example: www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/tusk-d-flex-pro-handguards-p ), where a regular MX style handguard will only attach to your handlebars on the inside of each grip (example: www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/tusk-mx-d-flex-mc-handguards-p ). Most lock-on grips will come with throttle cams to work for a variety of different bikes, but make sure you enter your bikes year, make and model to ensure that the grips will work. If you hit the first link in the description it will take you to a page with all our favorite lock-on grips for you to check out!
Its not that it's that hard to change regular grips, it's just that you don't realize how much of a pain they are until you put on lock-on grips. It's all personal preference. Thanks for watching!
I have a billet aluminum throttle tube that I'm not willing to part ways with (it's a throttle tamer with a different cam profile than stock) does anyone make a lockon that doesn't replace the stock tube?
Yes, all dirt bike grips are the same size. 1 1/8" handlebars are only a bigger diameter in the middle of the bar where they mount but are normal 7/8" at the ends where the grips go.
Just and FYI, the Pro Taper bars have pretty aggressive knurling that can make it pretty difficult to get lock on grips on and off. At least that has been my experience. I put some ODI lock on grips on my Pro Taper Fuzion bars and I had to use a hammer to get them off. With ODI and Renthal bars, I haven't had that problem or heard of other people - Chase
What are the pros and cons to lock on grips vs conventional grips? Looks like they are easier to install but there any more advantage to them from there
The throttle grip has a plastic outer cap that makes it much less prone to tearing than a conventional grip. That is probably one of my favorite benefits. I hate tearing grips from just a simple tip over.-Chase
Rocky Mountain ATV MC ok I’ll probably have to order some in a few months then lol. My CT70 only has half the throttle grip left on it as is and I just bought a drz125l that I would imagine after some use is probably going to need new grips pretty fast being I’m just learning. Normally I wouldn’t have purchased a brand new bike but $2,500 was a deal I couldn’t pas up just because its a 2017 model. I’ll definitely look into lock on grips if they are more durable
Odis are for lazy ktm riders I to was scammed into thinking they where cool because they are easy to replace butt they are shit I replaced them like crazy. Switched to renthal half walf glue on ones felt amazing and lasted me all race season.
This was a fantastic video. RM always has informative videos
Glad you think so! Thanks for watching!
Always the best product descriptions on the internet, thanks!

I use the Pro Taper half waffle in red & black on my ATC 200X (Domino twist throttle).
That's ancient.

Not just yours- any ATC200X is ancient.@@DirtyBob200X
So that’s why emig not doing superx this year! Chase sounds like your fighting a cold! Fight through it....!! San Diego was EPIC!!!
This cold as completely whooped my butt! I'm all better now though. San Diego was a complete, chaotic mess! Think Tomac will keep the red plate?-Chase

Just switched to a lectron carb and this is the one downfall im seeing is i had to use their throttle tube and i have to use glue on grips!
Thumbs up 👍
Thanks for sharing

I think I'll find a way to run those emig pro v2 grips with wrap around hand guards
It will definitely take some effort. It doesn't just pop out. But if you got creative enough, i'm sure you could make it work. They feel awesome.-Chase
@@rmatvmc Seems like a uni-bit would work, thats what I use on my lock on when i install them, I drill them out
Crazy that they didn't make those new Emig's a knockout. Bummer.
I took an appropriate sized hole saw and filed down the outer surface of the teeth bet I can make them knock outs.

I feel ya. Lock on grips are badass. Thanks for watching-Chase
What if you have a aftermarket throttle tube? Are those throttle tubes good?
Just switched to a lectron carb with lectrons throttle tube and this is the 1 downfall im finding out

@@rmatvmc thank you I’ll look and see if I can figure it out
The lock ons do fill wierd it feels like a rubber wrapped around plastic tube and you feel it .
you forgot to tell about the grip donut groove on the torq grips
I don't suppose anyone makes a lock on grip that can be used with a throttle tamer, do they?
No, lock on grips include the throttle tube so they would not be compatible with a throttle tamer.
is it really that hard to change out or put on grips?? am i missing something here?
Its not that it's that hard to change regular grips, it's just that you don't realize how much of a pain they are until you put on lock-on grips. It's all personal preference.

@@rmatvmc gotcha, I guess it's about the same thing as guys saying it's not that hard to kick a bike, but it's just a lot nicer to push a button. Lol
I'm basically the crew chief for the family. I use lock ons and bar ends. If I didn't I'd be messing with glue and wire constantly.

Has the throttle cams ever come apart while riding ?
We don't ever hear of that happening, I don't think its something to worry about.

They are just as durable as most grips! You'll like them. Have fun on that bike-Chase
My grips move so what can I do I need help
Your lock on grips move after tightening the small Allen head screw?
Rocky Mountain ATV MC yes
It moved when I was riding when I was going up a hill
So whatever happened with this?
Do they make them for my 04 wr 450f yamahas
yes they do www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/odi-v2-half-waffle-mx-lock-on-grips-p
Glad I didn't pick them out. I'm not getting rid of my works throttle tube
@Tyler Foster it doesn't make me faster, but I know what it is. And it is beautiful. 01 kx250 with a shit load of pc parts says ring, bring braap. 😎
what if I have an aftermarket motion pro throttle
Your Motion Pro throttle should accept grips the same as the stock setup.
Fighting off a cold Chase?
you have no idea...This was the worst cold i've ever had. Better now though! -Chase
Good to hear. A little 2 stroke exhaust seems to help my colds go away. Just a little advice for next time
