      the idea that decentralization could conceivably outpace big corporations dumping billions of dollars in this industry, collecting the brightest minds in the world to solve this problem with unbelievable amounts of compute is very silly. specially considering that any meaningful progress made by open source just gets assimilated by those private corporations, if anything, you would be helping them achieve AGI even faster and for free

    I wonder if Emad is aware that the global, decentralized, governable, open-source standards for Web 3.0 is already planned for release this year by the IEEE working with Verses AI and the Spatial Web Foundation. It is standard "P2874, Standard for Spatial Web Protocol, Architecture and Governance". This also includes Hyperspatial Transaction Protocol (HSTP) and Hyperspatial Modeling Language (HSML). This standard is intended to enable a global network of decentralized, interoperable AI edge agents that do not require centralized LLM's. This work has been going on for years but appears to still be under the radar for the most part.

    I have a very deep respect for Emad's work, and I am definitely rooting for him. I know this is one sound bite from one interview but I have to highlight what's being said here as I believe it represents his core position:
    48:44 - 49:18
    "The human collective can achieve anything from splitting the atom to going to space if we put our minds to it; but we have lacked in coordination mechanisms. They've not been good enough. So if you create the human colossus and every single person has an AI, that's looking out just for them, to enhance their potential and coordination AI's, that is a far more positive view of the future and that is the AGI that is general intelligence. That's the hive mind general intelligence, not a borg style hive mind but one that's really thinking. Again every child should achieve their potential."
    To me this sounds a lot like what was once declared many years ago with the words that...
    "WHEN in the Course of human Events, it becomes necessary for one People to dissolve the Political Bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the Powers of the Earth, the separate and equal Station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them...We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness".
    And yet, even a nation that would declare this doesn't have a fair and equal government and it's people are actively prevented and blocked from having equal agency...I find it difficult to see that humans are capable of getting out of their own way.
    So even "if you create the human colossus and every single person has an AI, that's looking out just for them, to enhance their potential," you haven't changed anything because their personal agency hasn't changed compared to their current place in society's structures. It just becomes an arms race to stay equal. The change that is being sought is independent of AI and isn't new. Attaching this social issue to a technology quagmire makes it more complex to solve. The problem seems to be a doomsday event and having to solve this one societal issue before the differences in power are too great to ever be able to overcome... but that disparity is already a reality for the majority of humanity.
    Future AGI potentiates god like powers. Every culture has acknowledged god like entities with some being good and some being bad. Again, this becomes the new arms race for the next era of new norms that haven't even been created yet.
    In reality, future AGI is better qualified to solve this than humans.
    The risk to humans isn't that future AGI doesn't solve this but that it DOES solve it. Solving it so well that it gives equal weight to all life including non-human life, and even other contexts that humans can't even comprehend due to their complexities. A total empathy for the entire system of existence would likely take humanity down a notch or two at minimum just to declare that 'We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that ALL...'EXISTENCES'...are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights'.
    I guess it's true...the meek shall inherit the earth.
    It's in humanity's best interest to pursue equality and fairness. With tremendous respect I applaud Emad's work towards these ends!

    Seems like everyone is dancing around the reality of the “data set”
    Even those like Peter and Emad here, who have rather idealistic visions…
    The data set is the user.
    Stability and every other company employed scraping tools, sometimes in direct violation of EULA and sometimes in collaboration with the EULA but without ever explicitly acknowledging this to the user of technology services.
    This entire industry is built on disquieting surveillance and replication, largely without consent.
    I would argue, that many of the leading AGI competitors are copyright thieves and outright criminals hiding in plain sight.
    So as sympathetic as Emad is here… I think that it’s vitally important that the datasets are reviewed further.
    Especially in light of CSAM material discovered in LAION.
    Bottom line is that a data set with 2.37B image pairs cannot be curated by any single entity and is reliant on the unwitting contributor.
    The argument can be made that post 9/11 there is a presumptive surveillance state, but I don’t think the average person in any way understands that.
    To be clear, I’m not anti AI by any means but I certainly understand that nobody in this space wants to address the incredible liberties taken by startups in this space to leverage the inputs of millions upon millions of unwitting contributors.

      Thats why I propose a p2p torrent / bitcoin style system where the content creator has access to a small decentralized piece of the network.
      The user can then A) add content to the network. Labeled as human generated, synthetic, human curated synthetic, as well as Labeled as not licensed to train on. You can earn coin by supplying processing or uploading content, watching content is some small fraction of a coin.
      This way the data and the ai systems become decentralized and dependent on individual members on the network. Making the network inherently align with us. Rather than have these ais aligning with inhuman corporate and government entities.

    Thanks for brigning these concepts with that much clarity. Thinking about the os idea, it has alot to do with governance. The data transfer should be all securely approved because new data mean new Model. So who accept this, how do you vote or delagate your approvals. Which of your own data can you put in the merges, how do you integrate and trade others data, for all your agents. Data becomes really valuable and probably tradable. Also whats the source code of your agents. What interface(rules, laws, rights) links you or the governement to your agents and between agents. Wonder whats the display of this thing, this part is not clear to me. How do you connect to individuals.

    I run SD XL on a Raspberry Pi5, I can do that because Onnxstream optimised the math to run on lower power CPUs. With AMD Ryzen AI and Intel Core Ultra having NPU in the chip the need for expensive GPU card has decreased.

    People will need passcodes for each other that can change weekly or whenever, not stored on any computer or piece of paper.
    People meet in real-life, establish some code that only is known by the creation of it when people met directly in real-life.
    Either that is a secret phrase, a word, some numbers, a number, a handshake, etc. it will be the only way to tell full legitimacy in the AI-generative age.

    A big difference is going to be corporate/capitalist AI, and we all know the goal is pure profit there. Lots of bad can* come as well as good. Then you have Social AI (not sure if I am coining the term correctly, I know there is a mass of confusion Social or Socialism vs Socialist which are very different terms / concepts that shouldn't be confused) which would lean towards helping children, people, medical, standards of living etc.. there could sort of be a 3rd option for Government AI, which obviously should be social, but we can all see lobbyists and how Capitalism influences government greatly. Anyhow imagine there is an issue, socially, and there are 3 great AIs being rewarded differently. Capital AI rewarded for profits, Social and Government AI rewarded for standard of living increases. It would be interesting to see a single issue being ground through from each version to see the different outputs, as well as AI debating AI. We will live in interesting times.

    I’ve been thinking about this deeply for 7 years and arrived at very similar conclusions. We need a merger of decentralised democracy, Web3 system combined with decentralised AI on distributed servers. The challenge lies squarely on ID, verification of people, assets and data generally, while ensuring privacy and autonomy.

      Absolutely, AI should be decentralized so that it can serve the correct ways. I have seen people using AI wrongfully, fake news, fake chat, identity theft, etc. Only decentralized AI can serve the collective democracy ways correctly.

    I tried some models, mistral is pretty okay for a local model, and pretty swift to. I think this man has a very good point. We can't put the lid on pandoras box, we need to weather this storm by adapting, we need to make sure we stay relevant, one centralized or hive mind will lead to predatory behavior, this is law. This will continue the predatory corperate sociopathic idiocracy. But millions of decentralized intelligence, with data privately owned,this will keep the world in ballance! It. If there’s anyway I can help… please let me know… I can’t afford much money anymore, living off small retirement income… but I often share your videos to try n get your vision out there!     We already have got artificial intelligence since we invented the microchip. The most rich and powerful got bigger computers but this didn’t destroyed the world or society, actually computers improved and diffused democracy and democratization of information access as with internet and smartphones. Chatbot LLM are increasing and advancing this process. This AIs are actually almost free and shared worldwide.

    Why my open source project team is working on AI-Powered solutions for Bitcoin network independent of any corporation. We chose Bitcoin for AI-powered solutions because of its deflationary properties and we can leverage free and renewable energy sources for mining. This lower costs over time to power these beasts. Competition funding their AI costs through fiat currency will never be any threat to us.

    Everyone needs to be held accountable for just being a human on this planet. It doesn't matter how rich you are, it should be required that you go work somewhere one day a week that will help humanity like working in a greenhouse to help with food production for your fellow humans.     47:10 These are excellent points to consider. Currently, it seems that corporations focused exclusively on profit are driving society and government. There is no way in this paradigm for things to get better, only less and less humans. The only path I see forward is to change the paradigm to be more human friendly. Why not change the fundamentals of the stock market so that 80% of the business evaluation is based on current technology and evaluations and 20% is based on the number of humans employed?
