    So where will YOUR first client come from? Or if you have started, where did you first client come from?

      I met the CEO of their parent company at an event. Somehow someone has said good things about me despite me having zero clients (well, I did unintentially do some free consulting as part of the sales process...). He introduced me to the CEO of their child company. They initially rejected my proposal, mostly because their executive did not want an outsider to meddle. But I ran into the child company CEO at another event, and convinced that they need professional help. So I got a TINY, but critical, engagement signed

    That was an awesome story ! $5K to $425 K ! I’ve sold business software for a couple of decades and I’ve been a firm believer in gaining a “beachhead “ in new accounts! Then grow throughout the organization!
    Also, “Major Strategic Concessions” should always be considered ! Just assure they work for you as well as your clients!
    I also love your advice to “add value” along the way including when you initially engage with a prospective client !
    When i think about the sunk cost associated with getting software sales, although they were significant, the ultimate payoff many times more !
    Obviously two different business models/solutions but i think the concept, balanced properly, makes great sense !
    Great channel !

    Hello, I work with church consulting and I was wondering about how do you get your first clients when the potential clients inside methods which is not what offer and sadly leads to negative responses. Thanks for your amazing content. It’s helpful

      Sorry, I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you saying that what the clients want, you don't offer? So find different clients.

    I am in the process of switching my carrer into consulting but I am not sure where to start? Is there any advice where to start? Do I really need to have certificates?

    • @ConsultingBusinessSchool
      @ConsultingBusinessSchool  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should find some useful videos here on the channel. Regarding 'certificates', it depends on the area of consulting you operate in. But in simple terms, if you are going to consult, you need to have relevant experience and qualifications. It's usually just expected. I'm talking here about management consultants. One of the things we have seen over the last 10-15 years is a huge growth of independent consultants and 'coaches' many of whom have little skill and experience in their field. I have hired a few myself to help with things like marketing. Honestly, most were useless and added zero value. They just provided a bit of theory they had picked up on a seminar or online coaching program. I knew more than they did on the topic. Don't be one of those 🙂 Learn from people who have actually done it, not just teach it...... And 2 years independent consulting doesn't qualify them to coach others how to consult! Rant over...... LOL

    concerning about my previous employer as my first client, how can i make a client if i am still working for them and opened my own business consulting firm ?

    • @ConsultingBusinessSchool

      If you are still working for a company, I cannot see how you can also be a consultant to that same company. How would you divide the role and duties?
