I’m glad you had such a good time in Phoenix. Most people have this idea that it’s just a dusty hicktown. As a California transplant, it’s good to see people realize it’s a bustling city, filled with great food and pretty much anything you could want in a major metropolitan area,surrounded by tons of natural beauty.
Your game hunting and Japan travel videos are my favorite content that you have put out. I of course love seeing all the game stores, but I especially love all the in-between things like local culture. Gives me a little taste of traveling when I can't at the moment. Would love to keep seeing more of these!
Glad to see my area get some love. I’ve been a longtime customer at Zia, Fallout, and Bookman’s. And I just discovered 1Up Games as well as Desert Sky Games. Phoenix has a pretty cool gaming scene. Glad to see that you were able to get some great finds.

I used to live in Arizona. Hated it, but after I moved away I realized it was kinda nice. Summers are way brutal though. That’s basically your winter. Another awesome video dude!

I have lived in Phoenix for almost 20 years and never heard of these places, except Bookmans and Zia records (have spent HOURS looking at the games, books and music sections, in both places). Thanks for showing me my new hang out spots!

Wow, thank you so much for this video! I moved to Tempe in November and was super excited to see Zia since I live right down the road from it and consider it my local shop. I've been a little disappointed in the game selection though, so it was so nice to see other places that I need to check out. I was bummed moving here from San Diego but your enthusiasm for the game shops made me feel a little better about it.
Also you can do what half of the state does and become a "Snow Bird", people that come down from the winter/snow states and spend it down here 60's-70's degree weather in the winter. People either stay with a friend, rent or buy a 2nd home (RV or pre-manufactered home)
I agree that the Phoenix area is beautiful, because I don't live there either. I usually go out that way for concerts- a few good friends of mine live there- and every time I land at the Phoenix airport my breath is taken away. Even just the view from the sky landing is amazing, but next time I'm out there I'll steal one of my friend's cars and go game hunting!

Next time you are here in Phoenix you should check out castles and coasters, it has an amazing arcade with pretty much every retro arcade game you could want. And the amusement park it's in is not too bad either.
I'd forgotten about "Tail of the Sun", that game absolutely consumed me for weeks back in the day. That was just before you could hop on the internet to figure out what was going on in a weird game.

Fallout has a few locations in the Phoenix Area. Great stores!! 1up is a great place to hang out as you saw with the chairs/gaming bit. Gaming Zone and their Arcade was a blast pre-COVID. Havent been there yet since COVID. Bookmans is great as well. Its a true treasure store and they do such a great job cleaning up all stuff and making it into treasures! ZIA as well is a treasure store but you should go to their bigger location in Phoenix (19th Ave and Camelback).
I feel extremely lucky to have Phoenix in my backyard to game hunt. There are so many retro game stores available plus the places like Zia and Bookmans. You got 4 Fallout locations, 2 Gaming Zone locations and multiple other single offs.

When I was attending a tech school in Phoenix from 1986 to 1989, I lived 4 miles from a dedicated C64 store at the corner of E. Thomas Rd and 21st street. It was an awesome store. Golf N' Stuff had a 2 story arcade by the Metro Mall, but the last time I'd visited the city, I'd noticed that they had turned it into a small amusement park.
Glad you came to Phoenix. I have a friend who was at the real estate expo. I got a lot of my retro games from fallout games especially that one with the legos and zias. I’m glad you got to spend some time in hot ass Arizona!!

2018 i did my first visit to the US to Las Vegas (i'm from Germany) and we did a day trip to the canyon. It was the beautiest thing i've ever seen in my life!

Great haul!! Btw the RPGmaker series has been around for decades and is on all major consoles and PC in the past. The 3DS one is generally pretty good and fun to fiddle around with. There’s also one on the switch that just came out quite recently. I got into it when I first discovered the ps1 version. Definitely something to look into collecting if you enjoy it.
You're low-key on genius on travel, only pay for food/gas/rental/games out of pocket get to feature stores that love your content then make it all back and then some. A good hustle for a good dude.
So glad you enjoyed Arizona I'm a zoning born and raised. Usually when it gets too hot and peanuts go up to North and go camping and show low, springerville, old Creek canyon that's in the Sedona area. I'm glad that you're enjoying the retro scene. Fallout games and Flashback games were the best stores I found when I was last in Phoenix

2018 i did my first visit to the US to Las Vegas (i'm from Germany) and we did a day trip to the canyon. It was the beautiest thing i've ever seen in my life!

Great haul!! Btw the RPGmaker series has been around for decades and is on all major consoles and PC in the past. The 3DS one is generally pretty good and fun to fiddle around with. There’s also one on the switch that just came out quite recently. I got into it when I first discovered the ps1 version. Definitely something to look into collecting if you enjoy it.
You're low-key on genius on travel, only pay for food/gas/rental/games out of pocket get to feature stores that love your content then make it all back and then some. A good hustle for a good dude.
For this trip my wife's real estate business paid for the flight, hotel & car and even some meals. It worked out well for me 😎

So glad you enjoyed Arizona I'm a zoning born and raised. Usually when it gets too hot and peanuts go up to North and go camping and show low, springerville, old Creek canyon that's in the Sedona area. I'm glad that you're enjoying the retro scene. I do have triforce heroes I'm not going to chance to play again.
I moved out of Phoenix last year, and it's weird seeing my old places. Used to live right by that Bookmans at 19th Ave and Northern.
Glad to see physical game stores alive and well. I don't think they're going anywhere.
If the combination of this pandemic and widespread availability of digital distribution could not kill physical retail stores, I doubt anything can.
