Yes, he winds up hopping from the world of FFI to the world of Dissidia with his adopted son and a copy of his late wife created from crystal matter. After making a pact with the dragon Shinryu, the 3 become deities.
FINAL FANTASY VIII IN A NUTSHELL (SPOILERS) Rinoa: "Oh no, Squally! I inherited phenomenal sorceress powers that will almost certainly corrupt my mind and body and turn me slowly into an evil being of destruction!" Squall: "Don't worry Rinoa, I will still be your knight and defend you, no matter what happens. Here, have my ring. It is a GF called Griever, and looks like a cool lion." Rinoa: "SWEET! I will treasure it always. Hey, let's set up a special meeting place where we will reunite if anything goes wrong, okay? It can be this beautiful field of flowers!" --- 30 HOURS LATER --- Ultimecia: "Mwa ha ha! I am an evil being of destruction with phenomenal sorceress powers! I came from the future, where everything is in ruins, but am visiting the present through time compression! And it just so happens that my castle is anchored at a certain "meeting place" that used to be a field of flowers, for NO REASON AT ALL." Squall: "Uh, you seem a bit familiar somehow..." Rinoa: "She seems just awful, I hope I don't wind up like her some day. Promise me you will protect me FOREVER, Squally!" Squall: "Whatever." Ultimecia: "Silence!! Now I will summon by best and most favourite GF, Griever! Sorceress magic and the effects of GFs have corrupted my memory so that I don't really remember where I got this GF from, but for some reason I feel connected to it. Plus, it looks like a cool lion!" Squall: "Maybe I'm a lion." Ultimecia: "Shut up, you!" Rinoa: "Wait, are you... me... from the future??" Square Enix: "NO, THAT IS A MADE-UP FAN THEORY THAT WE HAVE EXPLICITLY DENIED!!! IT IS NOT THE OFFICIAL STORY. RINOA HAS WHITE WINGS, ULTIMECIA HAS BLACK WINGS, THAT PROVES THEY ARE DIFFERENT!! IN FACT ULTIMECIA IS NOBODY IMPORTANT AND NOTHING IN THIS GAME MEANS ANYTHING. PLEASE PRE-ORDER FFXV, COMING SOON IN 2017."
It's funny, but I felt the FFXIII "fan theory" while playing. I didn't even consider it a fan theory. I thought they were going for that feeling and many players just didn't enjoy it. But then, I enjoyed FFXIII, so I'm probably crazy.
+Joshua Warhurst I didn't think it at the time, but years later and before watching this video. Fighting Fate was core theme. The sequels show their own forms of this as well, with the paradox and countdown stuff, both also about fate. The FFXIII world was all about the will to power. Other FF games were too, but these ones were the most. FFX had a pretty close version of this too, except it was the 'spira(l) of death' (more about death than fate) and its own inevitability, with FFX-2 being the positive acceptance of the eventual end but also the decision to enjoy life until then. So FFX had a linearity as well, while X-2 let us enjoy the hell out of Spira.
Fun fact:For anyone who has completed FF Xiii Lightning Returns, the ending basically points to the Xiii trilogy being a prequel to Final Fantasy XV. Go check it out.
+MCCiabattaGrande because it says "The age of crystal has come to an end" or something extremely close along those lines, and the setting (from what I've seen so far) looks very close, if not exactly like the "new world" created at the end. Secondly, I do believe they make references to Noel Kreiss and Paddra-Tsu Yeul, as well as Lightning Farron
They're supposed to be on the same timeline, since ff15 was previously "versus 13" and used the same crystal system as ff13. Type 0 and Final Fantasy Agito were also in this timeline. It's called "Fabula Nova Crystallis" if you guys were curious.
this is where Square confused people. the 13 trilogy, type-0. agito and ff15 are set in deferent time lines and different worlds but share similar mythos to one another thats why they are all part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis series. For example the 13 games take place primerally on pulse exceptions being the few times they are on cocoon and in valhalla and that LR's world is called Fabula nova crystallis after the chaos mereged with pulse.Agito is a prequel to type-0 and those games take place in the world of Orience and the FF15 world has been confirmed as Eos. All the games mentioned tho have slight variations of the same mythos for example Etro the goddess of death is in the 13 trilogy and is mentioned in a really old 15 trailer back when it was versus 13 and she is depicted as the godess of death their as well. Fal'cie and L'cie are in the 13 games and the agito/type-0 games. I remember Fal'cie and l'cie being mentioned back when 15 was again versus 13 but since the switch I have heard nothing about them so maybe they caned the idea after the back lash of people not understanding the difference between a fal'cie and l'cie in 13. Another variation is that in 13 a l'cie is given a focus and if they dont complete it they turn to a cieth and if they do complete it they turn to crystal well in the agito/type-0 games the L'cie chosen by each cities crystal do not turn cieth if they take too long and neither do they turn to crystal, so they seem to have a regular lifespan but they just have exceptional magical powers and are charged with guarding whatever cities crystal turned them into l'cie So the games are in different worlds but they have slight variations of the same mythos.
Aaron Page Because they were having an end-of-life hallucination. It's known to happen to people who are pretty much already shuffling off the mortal coil.
Thomas Yau But they kept the worst thing, random rare drops. I hate that shit, besides that 12 was Golden just wish it had tied more into the original FF tactics or Vagrant story since it is the same world.
balbanes1 I think that most of the criticism XII gets comes from a weird narrative choice. In that game you do not control the protagonist, but a witness of the events of the story (Vaan). That in itself is contrary to JRPGs in general, but I agree is not a bad game, specially coming from "Ivalice Alliance" :D
+balbanes1 You're right. Square DID over react to fan criticism... they always do. Fans liked how characters looked in FFVII but thought they were WAAAAY too skinny in FFVIII..... So they make tiny dwarf characters with mega heads in FFIX and shout "THIS IS WHAT YOU WANTED!" ...... Really not..... I have many many more examples but it's typical. They can't handle criticism.
+Draidis While it´s true that the changes were overkill. I think you should take a look at the fanbase again, there´s this... special sector that is NEVER happy and HAS to be listened to.
+Thomas Yau Likely in more than one way Possibly the stagger system was made with the idea to avoid another Yiazmat? haven´t reached that point yet, but as far as I know, it takes forever to kill.
Honestly final fantasy 10 does it the most in my opinion. At least 13 has an open area to explore. 10 has a few large areas but there are only 2 or 3 things to do in them aside from the main story.
It kinda depends how you define "linear" in a video game. I think the Issue with XIII is not that is linear as in you have mission/route A then B then C but rather that the world appears a lot like a bunch of corridors after another. It's not about the questline but it's visually linear. I just played FFX again and apart from a few side quest it's just one long predetermined road. However, it doesn't feel like it because some areas branch out a lot more. TL;DR I agree with you. The issue with FFXIII is that it *looks* more like a narrow corridor you walk along.
Incorrect. FFII (remember that one?) has the entire world open to you within 10 minutes of the start. You can go Anywhere practically. It's just a very bad idea, as most overworld monsters will 1-shot you. Have fun figuring out where to go!
In FF8 There's evidence in every disc that shows its not imagination and it's all real, people say norg isn't real and just a random thing in the garden but there's info on norg existing in disc 1, people say moombas were just random beings that were a product of the dream, but they existed in lagunas time which is obviously before squall was even born. they show characters using magic outside of battle which most final fantasies don't do, so it's easily possible that squall was healed in order for ultimecia to get the info she wanted on what the purpose of SeeD's are, which of course is to kill sorceress', but she comes from a time where SeeD doesn't exist, so it would make sense for her to keep squall alive to find out why they attacked her and what SeeD is
Isai Maldonado yeah, its a cool theory though, but that fmv where squall gets stabbed through the chest, brought back memories of wee Aeris getting it in the chest by sephiroth and she didnt survive. im not agreeing with the theory but wtf is up with that fmv? its a cool one though
Isai Maldonado I take Dissidia as proof that the Squall is dead theory is fake. Even if the story of that game is not canon, it acknowledges that characters exist in their worlds. So for Ultimecia to be chosen she must have been real. And she clearly knows Squall in game which means that they were taken from their worlds mid conflict.
FFX does certainly seem like a prequel to FF7 in some ways. The world map looks similar. It's missing the majority of the western continent, but maybe the Spira...uns... Spirians... Spirans... er, Spirons. Yeah. Maybe the Spirons never ventured that far west to map the continent due to imminent attack from Sin if they went too far out to Sea? Also, materia is said to preserve the memories and magic of the Ancients. Well, there are spheres in FFX, which come in all forms but most importantly are used to give characters stats and abilities on the Sphere Grid. It's also known that the Ancients didn't need materia itself to be equipped to use magic, and all characters can access magic abilities on the Sphere Grid. It's also fun to think of Sin being a Weapon.
+Michael Edwards I quite like the idea, but it's never quite convinced me - I think of it more as 7 and X/X-2 being parallel worlds where the laws of physics were slightly different, but events played out in a similar pattern
+Michael Edwards Also don't forget that in X-2 one of the Albed was named Shinra. I actually think SE confirmed it to an extent in one of the omega files.
+Tseng Akera also if you read the ultimania guide it is confirmed that once space travel was made possible a late decendant of Shinra went to The planet of which vii takes place and founded the Shin-Ra corporation
Isn't in one of the Tactics games you play as a kid that opens a book called Final Fantasy? So each game would be a story within that book. It's been a long time since I played it but I think that's what I remember.
In both tactics advance and tactics A2 the kid opens a book called the grand grimore. Those the former has him and his friends create a world basically based on final fantasy for fun and get taken into it like some messed up DnD. The latter is actually transported into the past some time after the original tactics and is transported back at the end.
Interesting. The Gran Grimoire is also an important plot point in Vagrant Story, which happens in the world of Ivalice which is the same as FFXII and the Tactics series. Spoiler Alert: It is actually the entire city where the game takes place.
Marshe and Luso both read a book and end up in Ivalice (the best ff world btw) so yeah that last one is a no brainer lol even ffix zidane says a spikey haired dude used a sword like this
I think some key evidence to the Multiversal theory is Gilgamesh's appearance in FFXII. Notice how he wields a Buster Sword, the Brotherhood Sword, a Gunblade, and Zidane's dagger?
All the swords Gilgamesh wields in FF12 are fake except the Wyrmhero Blade. But at least it shows he has at least seen the weapons and still supports the theory.
+XenoBlade Fan2011 Bartz is a Mimic in Dissidia. His entire moveset is comprised of the other the heroes movesets but he does add his own flair to them. His mimicry of his allies is the only reason he can wield their signature weapons in Dissidia. So technically speaking, the ones he uses are just mimicked replicas. Only true weapon he has is his own Brave Blade.
Not A Psycho actually bartz does add his own abilities to others attacks. Next time you play dissidia 012 look at his moves. It even says that when your selecting the moves
it truely can be. Because as one of the first PS3 Final Fantasy, if not the first when i remember correctly, than it is actually smart, because they can lay the focus more on other things and save resources. But At least they have one ore two open areas.
I think it may well be; the corridor environments were claustral but there's quite a bit of detail in most of them - and presentation was visually crisp, guided. The framerate would've probably been all over the place if they attempted even a slither of GTA 5 levels of open-world (a weird comparison but visually, it's less pristine as a result; still great visually - but it has 4 years of software technology on XIII). Now we're getting closer to XV, there's finally the resources to have both crisp, detailed JRPG visuals and large areas. Final Fantasy loves visual detail, going right back to the old static artwork backgrounds in VII-IX and intermittently in X. It'll be great to finally see that sort of presentation in larger, real-time environments.
i think i always took that rinoa i Ultimecia from the future, because of griever, i mean how can it be different? why would they choose griever if that wasn't rinoa..? The point is that since she has griever she lost the momories and do the crap she does. If this is not the case.. how do you even put Ultimecia and fit her in the story? Just a random witch from the future want to compress time and stop all things from living? just for no reason? it would be a sad decision from sqaure.
@@WastedTalent83 I know this comment is old but Ultimecia pulls Griever from squall’s mind and gives it form. It has nothing to do with rinoa, but is entirely about using squalls idea of what the strongest GF is and giving that thought form.
@@qxz9p i think you misunderstood and its a old post yea, probably my english was worse than now. what i meant is , that since ultimecia is rinoa from the future (or something similar) they knew squall and could draw griever out of him , because of more than 1 reason. Also when squall give the ring to rinoa with griever etc.
Megan P And to anyone who argues with this theory, I ask you this: If Rinoa is the ONLY person Squall has ever told Griever about, then how is it that Ultimecia is able to summon the winged beast in the final battles? And I highly doubt that Rinoa is the sort of person to blab about something that seems to mean a lot to Squall.
I like the theorie about Final Fantasy 8 that says that Rinoa is Ultimecia. Squall being long dead ago left alone Sorceress Rinoa, so without her knight... she turned up evil.
+Illusioterapia I've always supported this theory, even though Square has said it's not true. For people playing for the first time, or not paying attention, they wouldn't realize Ultimecia is there from the beginning. So her showing up at the end is like 'who the f is this?'. It's a backstory that I support because it makes her more interesting.
+Illusioterapia i like that better than the squall is dead from disc 2 on. the main reasons for the theory can be disputed depending on how much you dig into say the garden computers and npc conversations. the world of 8 is one of my favorites and in there is no evidence that supports it. your theory however can be very solid.
Lol that's very interesting specially if at the end when ultimicia gives her power to the other sorcerer it was to start that chain of events to make sure it never happens. Sorry bad at making my idea clear
This theory is good, as it is rinoa who also gets squalls ring in FF8 at a point. And her summon is basically from the ring. However it is also possible that Edea did not let squall dying, being that they had a past together.
XIII wasn't any more linear than any other FF title, it just did away with the hypocrisy of it. Other FF titles are just as linear, they just give you the illusion that they are not. XIII included some of the gameplay into the story-telling, which was brilliant. After all, you're not gonna stop for sidequests if you are on the run, and the party in FFXIII have everyone down their throats.
+keffypoo I agreed to an extent. the story of all the FF's is just as linear requiring you to go to specific points to advance the story, but many of them (the older titles at least) also have other places you can visit or explore without just going to the plot places. sure sometimes you'd end up in an area with monsters 30 levels too high but thats the point of exploration. FF13 made a literal hallway, you couldnt really deviate at all and there was very little to explore untill you've basically played a solid 15-20 hours
Which is one of the reasons I liked FFXIII so much. I'm not utterly convinced by the fact that older titles had more freedom. FFI~III had nothing to do apart from the story (not counting remakes). FFIV~VI had very little exploration until rather late in the game. FFVII Midgar and even after leaving the city, you could barely explore anything until you had the buggy. FFVIII did not leave you explore until you got the Balamb Garden as a vehicle, that's also rather late. I'm not even sure FFIX had any exploration until the final disc. Exploring in an old JRPG always went like: -> oops, can't go there, monsters too strong. -> oops, can't go there, it requires a spell/skill/key item I do not yet possess. -> oops, can't go there without the right vehicle/mount. -> well, I may as well continue the story. In the end, you had explored nothing, you had only been (mis)led to think you had any kind of freedom.
I really liked the Final Fantasy XIII fan theory. It makes the corridor game make sense. Although, Square Enix has confirmed that content was removed from the game because of the X-Box 360 version. And, that the game was originally the same size as Metal Gear Solid 4 in game data and would of originally required 21 disks for the 360 version to fit all of the content into it. But, M$ paid them a whopping $50 million for the game and they had to make the content cuts happen and ultimately destroyed what should have been a great game. And, the amount of content cut from the game to make the 360 version work was more than enough to make a whole new Final Fantasy game. In short, X-Box killed Final Fantasy in the previous generation of consoles, not Square-Enix.
Matt No, they weren't lazy with game design, if they were lazy with game design. Then there wouldn't be enough content pulled out for the 360 version to make a whole new game. Anything is better than Final Fantasy VIII though.
Reagen Lionel I understand that some content would get removed. But, the removed a lot more than excess content. In any case, people complain that this game doesn't have enough content and looking at games like Skyrim. Which do have tons of excess content and none of it interesting. By that standard some excess content wouldn't hurt this game.
+BigBox GG You are not making this up, are you? I'm intrigued, are you saying that this intended version wouldn't be linear, or at least much less linear?
FFX does the "FF13 linearity as character" thing a ton better: The Sphere Grid starts off as linear progression, but opens up as the plot starts to go off the rails. It unfolds slightly after Sinspawn Gui and breaks open a bit more by Macalania, By the time Yunalesca is defeated, there is no going back now; the world and sphere grid completely open up once the party members reject their roles and decide to find a better solution. FF13 wishes it was FFX.
the visuals were great but the only ff tat was more linear was mystic quest. And that combat.. omg .. it was like rock scissors paper with a high opinion of it self.
FF13 battle system is AUTO-BATTLE. It's only "the best" if you don't like to play. (Though it's even worse than FF12 battle system, which is another auto-battle, but at least there you choose the AI).
It being one big corridor makes sense because it’s a journey to Zanarkand. So it’s not like the characters can go off the beaten path too much because they need to get to Zanarkand to get the Final Aeon to kill Sin.
Tbh that sounds more realistic. i mean think about it before a big game a pro athlete sick of his life dreams up a world where he's important and a hero.
In FF6 Cid is Yellow and Orange. My theory? He's a walking, talking piece of candy corn. FF7's Cid is a walking , talking pack of Cigarettes. FF8's Cid.....Robin Williams....
Guide to every final fantasy: 1. Parents are dead. 2. Crystals = magic 3. Summons are a thing 4. The strength to fight against overwhelming odds was actually inside you ALL ALONG 5. Bahamut is the most badass thing in the game.
Final Fantasy XIII was developed in such a way that various teams were designing environments and monsters independently of one another long before a story was fleshed out. I believe that the story was developed in order to rationalize the corridors, not the other way around. I love that game so much.
Yeah I agree, I definitely think the aesthetics of FFXIII were the best and most fleshed out part of the game. You can tell they wanted to do something big for next gen hardware in making the worlds of Cocoon and Pulse. Definitely one of my favorite FFs.
I have a theory regarding Final Fantasy. It goes like this: When Hironobu Sakaguchi left the company, the people who were left in charge didn't know what to do and began to screw up the franchise.
+Francisco González (Panchorco) but 13 is the only bad game... :P I mean the others are all of a standard that is kept. Where as 13 is the only lacking one.
+Jake Muir 12? What about 12, 11, 14, and 15? Those massively changed the standards. I have a friend who wont play anything before eleven because he doesn't like the gameplay.
+Shaun Eborn Your friend sounds young. Understand that technology and graphics have changed the gameplay standards .... but that doesn't change the fact that after FF X, the stories have become terrible. The storylines in IV, VII and X are fantastic. We just had to make do with the graphics of the time.
You forgot about a huge FFVIII theory that I read about. Rinoa is actually Ultimecia and Squall is her guardian force. When Squall gives his ring to Rinoa you get to name the ring. The default name is Griever which also co-incides with the name of the guardian force that Ultimecia junctions to during the final boss fight. Now the theory goes that due to the Guardian Forces effect on a persons psyche (I.e. over time the persons begins to loose their memories) that at some point Squall sacrifices himself and becomes Griever. As a result Rinoa, as a sorceress becomes corrupted and loses her memories. She is not quite sure what she is searching for and learns that time can be compressed. Basically this allows for two different versions of Squall and Rinoa, one of which is a lost sorceress searching for her identity and the time compression allows for an opportunity for all of that to be undone as Squall and Rinoa ultimately destroy Griever and Ultimecia and through their memories make it back to their own time. So it is highly possible that some version of the time line, they destroy themselves and get lost becoming a higher evil in the world which gives birth to the sorceress and SEEd is created to fight that evil. Basically its possible that there are several time threads where SEEd does not exist and Squall and Rinoa fail to escape the time compression and eventually a thread exists where SEEd is born giving Squall and Rinoa, albeit unknowingly, a chance to escape and create a point in time where the evil of the Sorceress is destroyed and a new time line is created where they no longer need the GF and hence live out the rest of their days as lovers.
I loved the lore behind Dissidia though. The longer the characters stayed in that mashed-up universe beyond FF5's Void, and also the more times they died & respawned, the more memories they lost, so in the end they became shadows of themselves. It was much like FF8 (or Doctor Who lol) that if you get stuck in a time loop you eventually forget your own name. Also the plot twist in the end was **SPOILER** Dissidia was actually a sequel to FF1 all along... oooooh. So you could say that Dissidia doesn't prove the theory that all the FFs are from the same world or even the same universe, just that the Void from FF5 could be used as a gateway between multiple universes.
+dentedsky yep, me too mate, Dissidia was a sequel to FF1 because the two gods were the gods in FF1 and warrior of light is the main leader right? hahaha
Julius Cruz Yes and not only that but *spoiler for Dissidia* Chaos is Garland's future self, and isn't Cosmos Garland/Chaos's.... mother? Or something? If you find all the Reports you find out her background story...
A fan theory I remember reading is that Dissidia (yes going to it again, It is a fun game mind you) is also the prequel story for the Warrior of Light, mainly shown in the ending where everyone else is sent back to there own worlds, the Warrior of light walks off to a distant castle in a fashion that heavily resembles Final Fantasy 1's opening. Final Fantasy 1 always stated that the Warriors of light/Light Warriors came to Cornelia after a long journey.
Ff8 wasn't random at all. Cid knew who they were and what he was doing. A young person (Rinoa) being fickle isn't a leap for me. And Seifia had issues, was manipulated with his own delusional dream. The Acid trip is time decompression and the characters trying to focus on getting home. Ff7. Ruffas has his own agenda, part of that agenda is staying alive. (Sephiroth wants to kill everyone.) He didn't change in the movie, he wanted to rebuild Shinra and get his power back.
The producer of Final Fantasy VIII disclaimed the rumors of Squall dyeing. He then went on to say that it was a great idea and that he would incorporate that idea in any future remakes
Really liked the "Worlds are connected Theory". There must be an admin called "Cid" who controls everything behind the scenes and his assistants, "Wedge" and "Biggs". Maybe the 'real God' isn't Kefka, but Cid. :>
Alexander Greitl Well we can't know for sure whether he really is good or bad, they didn't really go in to it too much so I guess it's up to us to interpret it as we wish.
[Spoilers for FFXIV] In Patch 3.4 of Final Fantasy 14, the Warriors of darkness say that there are other worlds out there, and that there are 13-14 more of them. Some of them destroyed, some of them on the verge of destruction, etc.
I recall the Warriors of Darkness saying that there are 9 "shards of the Source", basically alternate timelines and realities of the same world. One of the shards was consumed in darkness, and became the Void.
True, FFX is quite linear. However, there's a couple of major differences. First, FFX does allow you to revisit most of the areas of the game. In FFXIII, you can never return to any area from chapters before chapter 11 once you have passed them. Also, unlike FFX, FFXIII has no real NPCs to talk to (Cie'th Stones don't count) or towns to visit, meaning that there are no side stories to explore.
+burk314 That i think is because the characters are considered a high risk for being lu'cie, forbidding you to visit cities in detail and talk to people or visiting shops. that would be the cause of the extreme lineal hallways.
Yeah, I get the story reason for it, but it's still detrimental to gameplay. At the very least, they could have let us talk to some bystanders as we made our way through Palumpolum or had Oerba on Gran Pulse have some survivors to interact with.
Tidus in FFX is still asleep in the eternal faith that birthed Sin. He is retelling his story endlessly just as the story of Zanarkands destruction had been retold. The trapped and tortured souls of the void still linger there alongside him and the hidden boss Penance killing them is symbolic of their release into the void. In the sequel to FFX, FFX-2, Yuna can call out to him and he finally hears her call. He makes his way through the farplane before emerging from the ocean, indicating that he was taken there by the eternal faith just as sin had in the first game. That ancient evil power capable of destroying all of Spira is still right beneath the surface, waiting for it's summoner to call upon it.
The final fantasy 13 theory is true and theres alot more to it then what you said in the video. Other important factors are that grand pulse represents a placed where the characters are free from their fate as L'cie so you now get the choice todo sidequests, its one of the best mechanics as metaphor ever done in the AAA game space. The theory is also supported by the battle system where you can chose auto battle (which the symbolic equivalent of accepting your fate). There is also the paradigm system which represents different ways you can choose to live your life and concur adversities. This further compounds in the stagger system which represents stress in everyday life.
redwrath5 oh that why FF XIII-2 has so much free dom in gameplay but only FFXIII-3 we have to chase the time to change the fate , to bad this FF get so much hate :(
+redwrath5 My thoughts exactly on the topic. Too bad FFXIII gets so much of a bad rep, i think Square tried to do something that a majority of ppl weren't ready to handle or understand.
The multiverse is straight up confirmed. If you read up on the lore inside the game Dissidia then you'd know that for a fact. Cid of Lufinia discovered Shinryu. Shinryu devoured his world and left him alive and Cod created everything. All the gods and from them all the multiverse. Shinryu devours those existences untill on day the Final Fantasy plays out (the final game or world is created) untill then it stretches outward continuously forever. It's a bit more complex than that but look it uo
Honestly, I think it's just fluff to explain away why all the FF characters are in the same game. What about Kingdom Hearts then ? The characters don't even have the same backstories (Aerith for example is childhood friend with Cloud, Cid and co... which was never the case in FF7).
Well by that logic why laguna? Why not Rydia? I'm sure with this new game we'll get a boat load of dlc characters. And actually it's not really fluff lol. It's the only thing that's ever confirmed that there was a timeline before the multiverse. There was an arch demon before Chaos, and a newly born God created Cosmos. Dissidia plays out so that Shinryu may devour the "time replicas". Like how most time travel stories end with the main character killing themselves off, this ends with them being eaten.. They have no memories of their past lives for the most part. The villains have an upper hand because chaos spills the beans ever go around. It's doudecim 12 because it's the 12th time this has happend (13 because they count 00 as one so 12= 13)
The whole multiverse was created so that Shinryu could be fed. So he could be kept at bay. He sets up shop at every dimension he finds, devours everything and then sleeps, then leaves. Cid built a kitchen around Shinryu essentially so that he'd have meals every time he woke up, and entertainment. Cid felt this was good because it would save others from his fate but even though he made an existence just for this purpose, it's purpose began to wear in him. Sure the dimensions weren't being devoured, just the lives of heroes or villains that lose and all the energy that either cosmos or chaos poured into them.
I always accepted the multi-verse thing as pretty much canon. It's certainly a recurring theme. In addition to the things listed in this video, there's also FF Type-0. Without spoiling things, all I can say is that alternate realities/worlds is a major part of the plot. Needless to say, there is tons of evidence for the games taking place inside a multi-verse.
the multiverse is not a theory, but a "of course is like that" otherwise they wouldn't be able to make cross over etc, kingdom heart is one of them, FF brave exvius FFRK same. And all other things they did. Its just easier to make it like that so that they can use it to make more money.
In LR: FF XIII Lightning becomes a goddess, immortal, and walks the earth that we see in FF XV. Both Lightning herself and "big Bhunie" states that she has become a goddess and she gains more and more power through the game. In the last cutscene we see her getting off a train in the new world, hinting at her immortality and her not being reborn. Perhaps Noctis must put her out of her misery?
I believe that this is what they where aiming for when its called ff xiii versus, but after all the shit the lighting gets(which i really dont get cause i love her) they scrap this story..
+Adrian Jacobsen nice theory, but there are two reasons that can't be: - FF XV has the fabula nova crystallis as basic lore, the new world isn't part of that. (though it's possible to come up with explanations to work around this) - the world seen at the end of Lightning Returns is actually our world. when they show the new world, you can clearly recognize africa and lightning describes the world as the world you were born in, talking to the player directly. +ekulerudamuru that might actually be the reason for the naming "versus XIII", though i think the change happened more due to the huge overbudgeting of the project so they had to turn it into a standalone game.
Ral Garog oh yeah, forgot that tag line. honestly i'm trying to stay a way from much of the FF XV news because i dont want to spoil myself (no demo for me^^) but at the end of Lighning Returns it's Yeul that basically takes the place of etro for the new world.
XV's no longer part of the Fabula Nova sub-series... the world they end up after LR is actually Earth (or some version of it)... XV does not take place on Earth, tho'
One thing that I find interesting is how people in general hate ff13 for being a tunnel that opens up at the end yet love ff10 for being a tunnel that opens up at the end.
So, I actually thought to this day that number 5 and 3 were made by Square exactly like that. On my first playthrough of FF8 I knew that Squall is dead since I saw the ending. I mean, even for Final Fantasy, that is some weird shit right there. Same goes for FF13, once the Protagonists escape Barthendulus' control and you arrive at Grand Pulse, you really feel the freedom of it as opposed to chasing down linear paths to get the next cutscene like on Grand Pulse. And guess what, as soon as you get back to Cocoon, the hallways come back. However, I always tried to explain that with the antagonist Barthendulus who basically works as a puppeteer for most of the characters in the game and thus sending his L'Cie down one road they can't escape from. But of course technical limitations are also a good reason :P
+CobaltMK Personally I thought it was quite apparent they had set of to do quite the experimentation with FF around XIII and VS XIII. The tech demos, various interviews around it made it seem like they really wanted to try some different things. There was a press interview where they said how they wanted to better display and portray the emotions the characters were experiencing, hence they churned out XIII pretty swiftly with the basic visual fidelity they wanted. Then at this point tinkered with VS now XV and Agnis keeps coming back. Plus at the time the PS3 was still early alien tech so mash that with an odd developer who wants to tinker with their baby
The Squall is Dead theory is so unfounded that when I posted on the SquallisDead website and refuted it with hard facts about the game itself, they threw a fit and banned me, lol.
Leng Moua Well they still kept the comments from people who were arguing with me; you might be able to figure out some of it from there. But basically, I dealt with each and every statement made in the article, and showed how it wasn't evidence for the theory. For example, they say that Squall's line about how things don't always happen the way you want them to is *contrary* to the game's theme of fate, when it is in fact *synonymous* with it. Fate quite literally means some things are meant to happen whether you like it or not. They also go on and on about how the latter discs are more "fantastical" or "dreamlike" than the first disc. Talking moombas, oh my! Meanwhile, we just got through meeting a talking mummified ghost, a talking shadow, and a talking monkey on Disc 1! There's a lot more, but you get the idea.
I've heard a theory that the Mime boss (forget his name) in FFV is sent to FFVI in the same way Gilgamesh is. Both games share a character of the same name that wears robes and has a Mime class. The Mime in FFVI is even a secret playable character, while the one is FFV is non-lethal as long as you don't hurt him, hinting that he was never truly an enemy.
Well Erhgeiz had a mini game called Forsaken Dungeon. You were archaeologists studying an ancient ruin at a junction point between universes. The multiverse idea is quite possible, because apparently Cloud, Sephiroth and others had passed throlugh the hotel just before you.
I believe the best theory is that developers want to make games and money and they create many games and mishmash stories because they ran out of ideas
They ran out of so many ideas, that in ffxiii : lightning returns, *SPOILER* if you manage to get the final day, when the game ends, they all teleport to earth and Lightning ends up in France.
it's not sephiroth in ff7 hr died in crisis core it's jeonova wandering around using sephiroth as a disguise. It's actually shown that one o jenovas power is shape shift and when you return to the mako reactor that something broke out of the test tube from the inside
+XenoBlade Fan2011 His is not a theory. Jenova is a puppet for the will of Sephiroth. Along your journey, sephiroth forces Jenova to sever body parts when you catch up to it, so you don't slow him down. Those severed parts morph into the 4 bosses you face. Remember after Sephiroth (jenova) killed Aerith, she called Cloud a puppet ? She also called herself a puppet as well. Yes it was poorly translated, but she said it.
The naked and indecent theory make a lot of sense. That would explain why, when you look in the window to Jenova's chamber in Cloud's flashback story to the Nibleheim reactor- in the original JP version, she says "ザックス, エッチ!"
Final Fantasy 15 exists in a world where the Final Fantasy stories exist as games, thats why they have the soundtracks and Prompto knows the victory song.
To support the multiverse theory: Gilgamesh in FF14 actually mentioned that he has been to "many worlds, meeting many heroes", and when Lightning accidentally landed on Eorzea in FF14, she said she felt the presence of a God toying with her. Even Shantotto in FF11 once mentioned in FF14 that there a greater power exists and toys with them. (And Shantotto is known as one of the most powerful mages already)
just replace the word "God" with " Square Enix". God is messing with me becomes, Square Enix is messing with me. Things make a little bit more sense imo lol
Ive always supported the Squall is Dead theory. The way things just start getting excessively more crazy as the game goes on after disc 1, as well as the mentioned lack of consistencies and weird things showing up. The way everybody stops questioning Seifer and just marks him as a villain, as well as Rinoa's lack of emotion regarding him later when she thought she loved him, then her sudden interest for Squall. The mind trip of an ending it has, where he tries to recall Rinoa's face over and over again as it seems his memories are almost all but gone, leading to that screenshot of Squall with the void where his face should be as an indication that hes lost his final memories, and begins to wander aimlessly in the black abyss, another possible purgatory reference, until finding the feather and going to heaven where he can be with the others.
+Nicholas O'Maley Did you see the gameplay demo? It sure looks nice but it seems you can only control one character and its in real time and no summons or world map....
Great vid. Though mfw VIII's story is considered "weirder" than VII. FFVII, which had super-soldier powers infused by alien DNA, which rewrote characters' memories, and had critical flashbacks with false information (to set the stage for an epic reveal) to the point that Cloud and the player both thought he was a failed Sephy clone. Throw in the Cloud's psyche acid trip sequence, and I'll be darned to think VIII's time distortion flashbacks and memories fading from summon spirit use to cause all the main characters to forget their shared past is any weirder. But, that's just me.
About the last one: You can also find several items and equipments in the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles games that make references about other games in the series, like the "obelisk" in Echoes of Time.
I'm pretty convinced that XIII is linear on purpose. Doesn't take a genius to notice the general themes of the game and how the game itself works hand in hand with that theme.
Doesn't change the fact that 13 is an incredibly dull game filled with unlikeable characters, an incoherent storyline, a nearly absent battle system, and boring environments. Even if this theory is correct and not just 13 fans trying too hard to justify the myriad of terrible design choices for the game, it's still a bad game. Trying to make it feel "deep" won't make it feel enjoyable.
Benjamin Hurley Nothing says cool like "This AI party member is the tank, this AI party member is the healer, time to just hold my finger down and watch Auto-Battle do its job."
I couldnt even finish the game knowing it will end soon yet i feel i havent reAlly enjoyed or achieved anything than saying wow the graphics are cool", other than that it's a paradigm shift shuffles that are boring
Funny enough after watching this video, The no.1 Theory is very close to my Theory on final fantasy which unfortunately I do not have sufficient evidence to prove but the concept is cool. My theory is that Final fantasy is all based on a single planet called Gaia, that is often called something else depending on the generation. Also I believe that the original gods - being Cosmos and Chaos often have different names depending on the game. And due to the fact that in every Final Fantasy, the heroes must save the world from ultimate destruction, I think that what happens in every story is that the crystals wipe mankind's memories of these events, to start over fresh again like in Final Fantasy type-0. Now I can't exactly pin down which game was the starting point. But I do think that the games give strength to my theory, like Final Fantasy 13-2 is the height of technological advances where they are dealing with Time paradoxes and time travel. What if all the games had started out peaceful with no monsters but due to the Time rifts and travel that Noel and Serah used, They tipped the balance and unintentionally created the situations that would change normal people into the Famous Antagonists we know today. My Theory is highly convoluted but fuck it, I had to throw it up there.
Thinking about it now, I'll take FFX because from reading some comment it seems to be generating a lot of hatred. FFX has the Farplane which is the equivalent to Limbo, the souls of the dead come here when a ritual is performed but when the ritual is not performed, the souls become tainted and transform into monsters. What if the souls of farplane get resurrected as the souls of the next generation that follows after them.
The Final Fantasy VII - X/X-2 connection is actually confirmed in the ultimnia of final fantasy, but they are separate planets, they end up crashing on the new one of VII when they can't perfectly tap into the farplane, so they go to find another planet that can support life like theres. Also as a side now, I don't hate 13, but X has the exact same corridor's for a long time with that same theme of inevitability towards a single end. Yet no one hates on X for it for two reasons, X doesn't have the corridors literally floating in nothingness sometimes, there well hidden in mountains and other types of landscapes so it looks less like a hallway and more as a path. Also there are actual towns in X, unlike 13. 13-2 on the other hand does that all right, makes the combat quicker, adds time travel, and a similar message without trying to shove hallways at us... So yeah, if that all was intentional, I'd say that makes 13 worse rather than better and drags X down with it.
X and XIII has nothing in commond, even though FFX is a bit liner they did it in a way more open way, also its not as dark and except some part of the game you cna go back and visit places and do things. while FFXIII doesn't give you this option, you see places one time and never again, except "that part" in the game which is close to the end... So you don't really compare them. FFXIII its all graphic and the game is somewhat Playable.. but nothing to compared with any other FF
As an additional bit of evidence for the worlds of Final Fantasy being linked, let's just look at the Highwind lineage. Final Fantasy II (JP): Ricard Highwind - The first in what may be a long line of Dragoons. Final Fantasy IV: Kain Highwind - The next elite Dragoon that stars in one of the games, may be many generations removed from Ricard Final Fantasy VII: Cid Highwind - Though he lacks the Dragoon title, given that the kingdoms have given way for the super-city Midgar, several aspects of the Dragoon class are obvious. Final Fantasy XIII: Oerba Yun Fang (possible translation: Fang from Oerba) - With the ATB skill 'Highwind' and given the fact that she, like Vanille, is originally from Gran Pulse, with multiple ruined cities that you can go to, it is entirely possible that she is the last surviving member of the Highwind lineage. I do realize that this is just a slightly stronger connection between the games than the ever-present Cid, but I find it to be somewhat thought-provoking.
I would have enjoyed this if it were canon (a father having to kill his own child might be an underused and underrated trope... instead of the super popular "I am your father, kiddo... and also the villain you need to beat the crap out of" trope).
Vincent wasn't Lucrecia's lover. He crushed on her pretty hard, but she rejected him and chose Hojo. Since she basically was a doormat, she let Hojo inject her with Jenova cells, which affects their unborn child (Sephiroth) - or alternatively, he injected the cells directly into Sephiroth, depending on what source you consider canon.
I do believe the real reason their games have similar plot twists and formulas is because they keep track of the selling points in their previous games. Whether it's two people discovering that they are family, the betrayal of a close friend or the selfless sacrifice of a loved character, it all gets ya right in the heart no matter how many times it comes up in a new story.
To help support number one cloud appears in final fantasy tactics. And if you talk to him he says he comes from a land far away and talks as if he has fallen through a dimensional portal.
just replayed ff8 this summer and it's really not that confusing...he's showing rinoas blank face outta context and is saying "whats this about?!"...that's squall remembering what's important to him,to get through time compression and back home. my theory is that this narrator and writer more than likely has not played ff8. mortal injury recoveries and romanticism being called into question?!...umm yea it's a Japanese rpg dude. and seifer falls into a witches spell after the raid on timber tv station,so yea he's gonna become evil and entranced into a hollow puppet.
I'm not certain why anyone would believe the FFXIII linearity to be a 'theory' that it's entirely related to the plot of the game. How can anyone not understand this to be exactly as intended? Square didn't comment because it's obvious. The entire narrative is that they are being chased and sought after while on the clock to their own deaths. There is no 'theory' involved in this at all, so who could possibly not realize this is exactly as designed? After they hit Gran Pulse they are met with several realizations that make them stop and analyze who they are, hence the narrative and world expands. Whether people have issue with the linearity doesn't change that it was actually a brilliant concept, just flawed in execution. The only actual two major definitive flaws I have found besides things that are more preferential like the likability of the characters are A) The writers left spoilers in the codex before their plot reveals, and left items in the codex that were vital to the plot without implementing them into the narrative, which is unforgivably bad as a writer no matter how much I absolutely love the story. And B) They left the full battle system locked for far too long. Other than that, I consider the story, the characters, and the concept to be exceptional. Could it have been better? Absolutely, but nowhere close to 'the worst ever' or any such nonsense. Including all 3 games in the trilogy, I consider it the strongest overall story written in the series. Granted that is cheating since they have much more time to work with, but it really caught me off guard in so many ways.
I am glad someone understands that, the theory however is still fun to explore and not many are willing to sit back and realize this. The narrative also reflects the way Cocoon and Gran Pulse are. One is more open and free and one is closed off and fearful of anything that is not what they're use to in their little bubble so to speak.
@@harleyrobb3034 how many times have yo started playing again each FF? That will tell you if one or more of them are boring or not. In my case, I've played FF 6, 7, 8 & 9 more than 10 times each, many of those times also completing the various optional quests. Only 1 run of FF 10 and 12, but both longer than 250h. I finished FF 13 justo not to feel that I threw my money to the sewers. And less than a week after finishing it and "exploring" pulse I stopped playing to never again touch the game nor feel like playing again.
Wedge and Biggs are in most final fantasy games actually... I only know about 7 and 10 but I also know theyre in more. (in 10 they are blitzball players that can be recruited)
"And even if it's bullshit, man, it's fun bullshit." That's the best thing I've heard said for weeks! I think that applies not only to the Final Fantasy series, but so many other games out there as well.
I have a few Final Fantasy theories: 1- Cloud's mother was experimented on like how Sephiroth's mother was by Hojo, but the experiment failed and he just ditched them afterwards. It would explain why Cloud was able to become powerful enough to beat Sephiroth. Hojo is basically "the man behind the curtain," it wouldn't make sense to stop after one success. Honestly, I think he got the short end of the stick and I hope they give the character more screen time in the remake. 2- All the games are set in the same universe but different planets instead of a multiverse. Each world gives different titles/names to the common elements of their world. They could be colonies of one advanced civilization that's been on each planet so long that they've forgotten. 3- Parasite Eve/The Third Birthday is set in the same universe. 4- FF VII is partially inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft and horror movies from the 1980's.. Young Hojo looks like a CGI of 1980's Re-animator Herbert West played by Jeffrey Combs. The Mako is green like the re-agent from the same movie. Jenova was discovered buried deep within the mountains (At the Mountains of Madness, The Thing) and is a cosmic entity from space(a theme in Lovecraft's works). The black robed dudes following Sephiroth around are basically a cult, and the whole idea of science playing with what they shouldn't.....I can go on and on.... 5- Sephiroth accidentally turned himself into a Summon. In Advent Children, Kadaj had to "summon" him using what was left of Jenova. He can't appear unless someone else brings him in, so he's limited in what he can do, like create a pandemic. Hence, why there's a two year gap between the game and movie. 6- Kefka succeeded, which is obvious, but it wasn't what he expected. He was waiting for someone to rise up to him because it would be a break from complete and utter boredom. 7- Another FF VII theory: ignoring Crisis Core....Sephiroth was influencing Zack when he and Cloud were returning to Midgar. He wanted them to get caught by Shinra and taken to the headquarters. It was established that he could control Cloud(beating up Aerith). If he could get out on his own, he would have, so why not until Cloud was in the Shinra cells? Because he needed to have someone to control on the outside. He used Cloud to kill president Shinra and then lead him back into the cell before escaping. edit: 8- ANOTHER FF VII one: The Turks have no free will and are likely clones. They served President Shinra and destroyed Sector 7 just as he wanted. After his death, they became bound to Rufus and followed his bidding.
FF8 - RINOA IS ULTIMECIA. Some internet junkies claimed that Square Enix denied this. But that is a lie, Square Enix never confirmed nor denied the theory.
You know, the theory about XIII being linear because it helps understand the motive behind characters only restricted to moving forward holds, in my opinion. Square has a history of conforming something story related that makes it seems reasonable, but not understandable. I've heard comments regarding Chrono Cross that the story is meant to be its own and the connection of one character in the game doesn't go back to the original(Guile-Magus-Magil line), while various theories, pointing at the same thing that Cross and Trigger are connected through some complicated events, and that Trigger showed cutscenes that can be linked to Cross in its re-release. And I mean, just think about it, Limitations on PS3? Really? They made a game as huge as XII on PS2! And XV was essentially a PS3 game at the start, so this limitation deal doesn't even makes sense. If though, however, the fan theory of XIII holds, it does make the game depressing in terms of its story(apologies if there are inaccuracy in my words somewhere)
Sam Dark Yeah, I can understand that. But compare the early footage of Versus XIII to the XV we have now. It's a huge leap. Everything in the game is very close to real world in terms of scale and graphics, so it makes sense to have a game like XV on PS4
Big Kid Well, I don't experience the leap to be that big. I can definitely see how it transformed over the years and I see how the same concepts are kept intact even though it seems to me that many people don't seem to see it that way; I personally don't understand why, because when you examine the deeper relationships between the games it's clear to me that while XV is a different game from the original idea of Versus XIII, it's not different enough to say that there is no similarity whatsoever, especially in essence.
i like that multiverse theory. every world has their own way to summon the dimentional rips (materia, fayth, crystals), and call them different names (espers, aeons, gf)
I heard of a FF fan theory that I’m pretty inclined to believe maybe true.. FF 8 and 13 are connected. The theory is that the bridge in FF 8 (the bridge in Fisherman’s Horizon) is the same bridge that’s located on Oerba in FF 13 (the ancient city on Gran Pulse that Fang and Vanille are originally from) the fact that Squall and Lightning are the only two FF main characters who wield/use gun blades is another indication that the theory maybe true. True or not, it’s an interesting concept to speculate and it wouldn’t be surprising if it was all intentionally done for this specific reason, to have fans speculate and to create an intrigue for the franchise.
I read this theory a while ago. The idea is that by inheriting Edea's power, then defeating Adel to get hers, Rinoa ends up with all the sorceress power and eventually becomes Ultimecia, either due to magical immortality and the mental strain of all that power sending her loopy, or grief at Squall's death (if you subscribe to that theory). Evidence for the theory is kind of there and kind of not: basically 1) a resemblance between Rinoa and the *very* quick image we get of Ultimecia we get in the end cut scene, and 2) the fact that Ultimecia's GF (i.e. summon) is Griever, the same name as Squall's ring, which he gave to Rinoa, the idea being that the ring functions the same way the Doom Train ring does and actually houses the GF. (Interestingly, if you rename the ring Griever near the start of the game, the GF name changes too.)
FFXV has no connection to the Fabula Nova Crystallis since the re-branding from Versus XIII into XV. Any plot connections are there because lazy writers.
Sam Dark It's diverged a bit but I think it's still part of the series because the whole theme of FNC is crystals and how theyre connected to gods and magic. Type 0 is part of FNC and it and 15 have kind of a similar plotline (with the imperial army trying to take over and seal the crystal and all that stuff.)
Realistically, the reason why XIV feels like a hub world/universe for all other FFs is purely because Square like exploiting people's nostalgia for other FFs by constantly tossing in that fan service into XIV to make people like XIV more. There are minions and outfits and name-drops all over the place from the other games. But there's also the actual connective tissues, as weak as they might be. I mean there were three blatant crossover events, one where Lightning visited, one where Shantotto from XI visited, and one where the chick in the last XI expansion visited and then STAYED in XIV.
+Eji Also not forgetting a certain cave, XIV played with so many aspects from other games, Triple Triad, Names, Mounts, Minions, Events, even Fate names, so many references to other Final Fantasy Games. Then we hit the obvious points, lke Avatar/Summon etc names, Monster types and names, Moogles etc, which are all the same.
WAIT LIGHT WAS IN 14?! Maaaaan I am sad I missed that event, who's the chick from the last expansion in XI that stayed? Was it like Krile or something?
With the final theory it should also be pointed out that Lightning appeared in FF14 in a special event before Lightning Returns came out. The story behind the event was she was awoken on Eorzea to basically warm her up before sending her off to Pulse.
Well I really thought that Squall died, because... He took a fricking ice shaped magic in his heart, and had weird visions etc... To me it was kind of obvious :o
You know, I think it's just that Square went a bit overboard with certain scenes. At the end of Disc 1 in FF8, you get an ambiguous scene where Squall gets impaled so it will make you more curious about Disc 2. I think that's what people call a cliffhanger or something. Also, you have a similar scene in FF9 that NO ONE ever talk about apparently : the crash of the Theater Ship. The explosion is enormous. In real life, most people would die from such a crash. Yet all the important characters are alive and the ship isn't even completely destroyed. I mean, people could make up a "Zidane and his friends died and it's just Zidane or Vivi's soul dreaming up the rest of the journey" theory too here.
Sales are not everything. (I bought FFXIII on its release date and I didn't like it as others did. You include my purchase as if the game was good or not?). And as for the sequels. Think about this. The PS3 era was coming to an end. FFversusXIII wasn't anyway near completion. Do you think they wouldn't make something to cover that time and have some profit? They where after thoughts.
Jimmy De'Souza I will disagree for the actual numbers. FFXIII-2 is close to 4m and Lightning Returns around 1.5m, but that’s not the point. The point is the decreasing numbers by half for each new installment. Yet again that doesn't represent the original. At the end. ofc the game will find its fans and supporters. It wasn't a bad game in a sense of technical issues etc. (it wasn't Ride to Hell: Retribution)
Well I can just return to my previous statement. It's not a bad game/series itself. It's a bad Final Fantasy game. If it would have been a game called I don't know "Fal'Cie" or something along those lines, it would have been fine. Sure some stuff was a bit stupid and could have been handled better, but overall fine. But if you take on the name of a certain franchise, you also need to take the expectations into consideration. If you take FF, which is about huge worlds to explore, interesting mixed time settings(futuristic + mage f.e.), a big unique cast of characters and so on and create a game like XIII, of course it won't match everyone's expectations. And this point is clearly visible on reviewing sites. Sites that looked at FFXIII as it's own game, gave it quite a good rating. Reviewers that compared it to the previous installments, gave it a mediocre to bad rating.
The ff8 theory was the only stupid one. The rest are plausible. Though I would really like to find out what happened between the moments of Squalls stabbing and when he woke up. Pretty sure it's not him dying and dreaming it all, comatose and dreaming maybe, that would be plausible.
Finally someone pronounces Seifer's name correctly! 😂 Lots of times in live videos, the streamer calls me Seeferboy. As for the #1 theory, I like the theory the games are on the same planet, but different time periods.
The multiverse is a no brainer and the FFX's Spira being FFVII's planet makes a lot of sense. But the Squall is dead theory only holds up because of the change of discs at the point where squall is impaled - that scene feels final! But the faceless Squall thing and trippy ending is not an afterlife thing if it were Laguna and Raine would be alive together in the present. Or Laguna and Julia would have been together and in love. But in both cases they aren't. That ending is about love. It shows Squall and Rinoa trying to hold on to one another and Squall in particular, trying to save/hold on to his memories of Rinoa. Ultimecea's defeat basically unravelled time and memory. Basically, by defeating Ultimecea Sqaull and friends create the mother of all time paradoxes. Ultimecea was the reason for him meeting Rinoa and his whole adventure so by defeating her they screwed with history and the future. Squall's literally left standing on a chunk of barren rock at the end of time - it just so happened that that rock was the field he promised to meet Rinoa at and (que the soppy fairytale ending) her love for him conquers the end of the universe - she is a sorceress after all. Sure the ending makes as much sense as 2001 a Space Odyssey but frankly, the idea of time compression is like being sucked into a blackhole so their victory would be like escaping from one - which is kinda like hitting rewind on your life history. All very "timey wimey" I know but it actually is a really moving ending and its sense is reinforced if you listen to the song playing 'Eyes on Me' - "Just reach me out, then you'll know that you are not dreaming".
TheRealYoshihito Established by nobody since forever. It's just how their universe is. And really? "Cite your source"? It was from the Dissidia games, but this isn't a college essay.
Masterxl MVs You can't claim something without sources to back it up. If it worked like that we could claim whatever we wanted. Did you know that Squall and Cloud are actually brothers?
Huh, I just assumed that all the worlds were connected, I mean-being the same series, and having all these recurring elements, not to mention all the references to other games within each of them. I thought it was Cannon, but it's not confirmed?
Well back in the 80's they planned to make Final Fantasy the only Final Fantasy, and then it freaking became a wild success and they did not plan for sequels so they decided to make most of the games take place in their own separate Universes. Yup
Yoshi P, the producer of FFXIV, has stated that they wanted the game to be a sort of "final fantasy theme park" with elements from other final fantasy games woven into the world. Now, they usually keep these extra elements out of the main story, but they've done cross-over events with XI and XIII so far with plenty of classic characters popping in other, more consistent side-stories. I don't know if SE has explicitly decided that they are all part of a multiverse, but XIV definitely fits the bill for the theory described here regardless. Cool stuff :)
You missed a chance to talk about Ivalice when you mentioned the multiverse, because Final Fantasy XII, FFXII:RW, FFT, FFTA(actually this is a special case,) FFTA2, and arguably Vagrant Story, all take place in the same universe of Ivalice at different points in the timeline, with the exception of FFTA which isn't real, but what happens there seems to influence the real Ivalice. We know this because Montblanc mentions Marche in subsequent appearances. My problem with the XIV multiverse theory is that, the Warriors of Darkness are all the same races as the races of Eorzea, and each game has it's own set of races, so did they change species to fit in? We also know to the fate of two of those universes, one is consumed by light and the other is consumed by darkness and is what they call in XIV The Void. I don't think this Void isn't the same one that Gilgamesh speaks of, because its it's own separate universe with it's own inhabitants and stuff.
+Mike Abundo I saw that one. Realistically, yeah, it makes sense, but realism is rarely the point of a Final Fantasy story - style and drama take top priority, and that's just how they saw fit to direct the stabbing death of Aerith at that time. Perhaps they will re-direct the scene entirely for the remake, while keeping to the iconic imagery of Sephiroth descending as she prays.
jack brearley I would say the same thing if Vaan was not a thing. Spend over 200 hours on my first play-through. And I have no love for Penelo and indeed most of the other characters either.
jack brearley I loved Fran, coz she was a mystery. I did not care for Basch, he was a dick. The true protagonist should have been Reks. Also Vayne was the best character in there, maybe after Balthier, just maybe. Oh and lets not forget Larsa.
jack brearley Well if I was to choose the best character in all final fantasy it would most certainly have to be Anima. If we are talking main character (don't think summons count as either main or characters) it would have to be Vincent. After all he is a motherfucking beast.
two games support that multiverse theory as well; FFIX has 2 worlds where one is grooming the other in order to settle there and abandon their homeworld/universe FFT (first one) has an Easter-egg where Cloud [FFVII] becomes a part of your army. Kingdom Hearts includes Disney universes in the list of accessible places in this multiverse too.
I believe that all Final Fantasies are in the same world which has powers beyond imagination (magic, summoning, etc) and even time itself (FFI, FFIV, FFVIII, FFX). This has attracted several alien species to the planet (FFIII, FFIV, FFVII, FFIX), which have perverted the power of the planet through crystals (almost all FFs). The planet is sometimes too powerful for the aliens, though, so they will set up artificial moons or parallel worlds etc to gather its power (FFIII, FFIV, FFV, FFIX, FFXIII). However, the planet's powers are unstable, and the native sentient species has become corrupted with the new found crystals, so many times the world is destroyed through malicious actions (FFIV (giant robot), FFV (worlds split and recollided), FFVI (apocalypse), FFVII (Weapons), FFIX (Terra/Gaia fusion), FFX (Sin), FFXIII (Interplanetary War)). Each time the world is destroyed, its land masses are severely changed and the planet's power becomes out of balance. The aliens nor native sentient species are able to harnass the planet's power, so it is a constant struggle for those who wish to selfishly use the planet and those who wish to keep the powers out of the hands of the corrupted.
They hadn't planned that far, in fact they didn't plan on anything at all past the first Final Fantasy game. The whole reason the game was called "Final Fantasy" is because it was suppose to be Square Soft's final game. Back before FFI came out the company was failing so they decided to do one last game that put in some of the crazier ideas the developers had and didn't have anywhere else to put. Turns out the game was wildly successful and saved the company so they kept making more. Eventually resulting in what most people would call one of the best RPG's ever made FFVII, or FFVIII, depending usually on which ever you played first, at least in my interactions that's how it usually goes. I would venture to guess after the first one was as successful as it was and they decided to make the second one, they wanted to try new things, and as they made more they decided to set certain laws in place for all the worlds to follow. That's mostly just a guess though.
"Even if it's bullshit, it's fun bullshit." Truer words are rarely spoken :-)
+PretzelDude hell yeah! MATE!! this is what games are about just have fun before going back to reality!!
Cid is God and he created all of the FF universes. That is why he shows up in every game to help with amazing technology that no one else understands.
I just made that up but hey, it sounds legit hahaha
The god overseeing the conflict of deities in Dissidia is actually the Cid who designed the airship in FFI.
But he didn't create the multiverse.
I was just thinking what implications that has on him? Is he a dimension hopper?
Yes, he winds up hopping from the world of FFI to the world of Dissidia with his adopted son and a copy of his late wife created from crystal matter.
After making a pact with the dragon Shinryu, the 3 become deities.
Cid is a physical manifestation of destiny.
FINAL FANTASY VIII IN A NUTSHELL (SPOILERS)
Rinoa: "Oh no, Squally! I inherited phenomenal sorceress powers that will almost certainly corrupt my mind and body and turn me slowly into an evil being of destruction!"
Squall: "Don't worry Rinoa, I will still be your knight and defend you, no matter what happens. Here, have my ring. It is a GF called Griever, and looks like a cool lion."
Rinoa: "SWEET! I will treasure it always. Hey, let's set up a special meeting place where we will reunite if anything goes wrong, okay? It can be this beautiful field of flowers!"
--- 30 HOURS LATER ---
Ultimecia: "Mwa ha ha! I am an evil being of destruction with phenomenal sorceress powers! I came from the future, where everything is in ruins, but am visiting the present through time compression! And it just so happens that my castle is anchored at a certain "meeting place" that used to be a field of flowers, for NO REASON AT ALL."
Squall: "Uh, you seem a bit familiar somehow..."
Rinoa: "She seems just awful, I hope I don't wind up like her some day. Promise me you will protect me FOREVER, Squally!"
Squall: "Whatever."
Ultimecia: "Silence!! Now I will summon by best and most favourite GF, Griever! Sorceress magic and the effects of GFs have corrupted my memory so that I don't really remember where I got this GF from, but for some reason I feel connected to it. Plus, it looks like a cool lion!"
Squall: "Maybe I'm a lion."
Ultimecia: "Shut up, you!"
Rinoa: "Wait, are you... me... from the future??"
Square Enix: "NO, THAT IS A MADE-UP FAN THEORY THAT WE HAVE EXPLICITLY DENIED!!!

That image of squall's face with the hole is positively frightning.
+leon cross the most scary part about this is that the image is actually in the end cutscene.
+leon cross It scares me everytime I look at it.
+leon cross it freaked me out when i saw it on this video..since I never finished the game I never saw it til now.........
+Wub Wub what is it suppose to be? Is that the last time we see squall?
+leon cross Oh yes. The ending cutscene of FF8 was a freaking nightmare.
all universe of final fantasy have the same barber and hairstylist... lets call them dimensional salon workers
truer words have never been spoken
The best barbers and hairstylists. I would say.
Low Priority Lord SHUT UP CLOUD, SPIKEY HAIR IS TOTALLY 'IN' THIS YEAR!!
Siddiq Smouse go use stupidaga on yourself
Low Priority Lord the first thing I saw on this comment was "wow, why 130 upvotes." And then I read the comment.
I've played the whole trilogy of ff13, but how do you know, ff15 ain't even out yet?
Ok, thanks. Hope to see some references or at least easter eggs from ff13.
this is where Square confused people. the 13 trilogy, type-0. agito and ff15 are set in deferent time lines and different worlds but share similar mythos to one another thats why they are all part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis series.
So, if Squall's game just him having an end of life experience, does that mean the game is his... Final Fantasy? :0
Aaron Page Well aren't you just a wet blanket?
GroundPoundable not at all, I just hate it when theories take the place of common sense
Aaron Page Well, can YOU explain how someone can take a huge ice spear to the chest and live without any scars or long-term damage?
GroundPoundable sure, as long as you can explain how someone's supposed death can contain experiences that they shouldn't have
Aaron Page Because they were having an end-of-life hallucination. It's known to happen to people who are pretty much already shuffling off the mortal coil.
My theory about XIII's linearity. All the bitches that cried about XII led Square to create a game of complete opposite...
+Thomas Yau Likely in more than one way
Possibly the stagger system was made with the idea to avoid another Yiazmat? haven´t reached that point yet, but as far as I know, it takes forever to kill.
RE: FFXIII: All FF games start out linear and then become more open. FFXIII just does it too hard.
Someone get this guy a cookie and a jockstrap!
Honestly final fantasy 10 does it the most in my opinion. At least 13 has an open area to explore. 10 has a few large areas but there are only 2 or 3 things to do in them aside from the main story.
Exactly, which is why I never understood the hate for FFXIII, the linearity was just more noticeable.
TL;DR
I agree with you.
In FF8 There's evidence in every disc that shows its not imagination and it's all real, people say norg isn't real and just a random thing in the garden but there's info on norg existing in disc 1, people say moombas were just random beings that were a product of the dream, but they existed in lagunas time which is obviously before squall was even born. they show characters using magic outside of battle which most final fantasies don't do, so it's easily possible that squall was healed in order for ultimecia to get the info she wanted on what the purpose of SeeD's are, which of course is to kill sorceress', but she comes from a time where SeeD doesn't exist, so it would make sense for her to keep squall alive to find out why they attacked her and what SeeD is
Isai Maldonado Lol makes sense.
Isai Maldonado Lol makes sense.
Isai Maldonado Even if squall died.... pheonix down.
+Jordan Jarvis thank you, I knew the omega files didn't sound right. I haven't found a decent translation but I have seen what others have posted.
Lightning Returns seems like a prequel to both since remember all the souls going inside the new planet? something seemed similar
In FF Tactics you can literally pull Cloud from "another dimension."
Isn't in one of the Tactics games you play as a kid that opens a book called Final Fantasy? So each game would be a story within that book. It's been a long time since I played it but I think that's what I remember.
In FF TACTICS Advance 2, yes.
Spoiler Alert:
It is actually the entire city where the game takes place.
Yeah, notice how bartz can do that in dissida? 5 is just a sword magnet...
Deicide. That's what every single entry of this series has in common.
Not A Psycho actually bartz does add his own abilities to others attacks. Next time you play dissidia 012 look at his moves. It even says that when your selecting the moves
Developers of Final Fantasy 13: "Uh ... Yeah! That's exactly what we intended."
it truely can be.
It'll be great to finally see that sort of presentation in larger, real-time environments.
m00gleboi
Yes, that was exactly what I wanted to tell also, thanks!
most likely they prioritize graphics than environment functionality.
I actually don't mind. Mass Effect 2 and 3 levels are basically a corridor too.
Can't really excuse bad/linear game design on that though. It could've been entirely possible to create a non-linear corridor system.
"Rinoa is Ultimecia" is a way more interesting theory than "Squall is Dead".
i think i always took that rinoa i Ultimecia from the future, because of griever, i mean how can it be different? why would they choose griever if that wasn't rinoa..?
I'm surprised that the theory about Rinoa and Ultimecia being the same person wasn't on here.
Yes, it's definitely an interesting idea.
It's not a theory. It's fact :p
Sarcasm, btw. But I believe with certainty it's true, you don't have to
Megan P
And to anyone who argues with this theory, I ask you this:
If Rinoa is the ONLY person Squall has ever told Griever about, then how is it that Ultimecia is able to summon the winged beast in the final battles? And I highly doubt that Rinoa is the sort of person to blab about something that seems to mean a lot to Squall.
I love the Rinoa is Ultimecia theory and it makes more sense than the Squall is Dead theory, but this theory was supposedly debunked by the makers. :/
Chocobo's are a sentient race that travel between all these dimensions, that's why they are the only creatures that appear in every game!
Mightylink And moguris
except there are MANY different creatures and monsters present in multiple FFs. Chocobos, Moogles, Malboros, Adamantoise, Mandragoras, etc.
*Laugh in Omega & Moogle*
They aren't in every game though.
Sorry bad at making my idea clear
shut the fuck UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP
This theory is good, as it is rinoa who also gets squalls ring in FF8 at a point. And her summon is basically from the ring. However it is also possible that Edea did not let squall dying, being that they had a past together.
XIII wasn't any more linear than any other FF title, it just did away with the hypocrisy of it. Other FF titles are just as linear, they just give you the illusion that they are not. XIII included some of the gameplay into the story-telling, which was brilliant. After all, you're not gonna stop for sidequests if you are on the run, and the party in FFXIII have everyone down their throats.
+keffypoo thank goodness someone else sees that. I think that in the same way like FFX is literally a one way track until the final dungeon.
Exploring in an old JRPG always went like:
-> oops, can't go there, monsters too strong.
-> oops, can't go there, it requires a spell/skill/key item I do not yet possess.
-> oops, can't go there without the right vehicle/mount.
-> well, I may as well continue the story.
In the end, you had explored nothing, you had only been (mis)led to think you had any kind of freedom.
@@keffypoo 1~ 3 are very different games
Lol the hell it wasnt. Plus the combat was so boring and dawn out.The only ff game more linear than ff13 was Mystic Quest
I think they were just lazy with game design.
Matt No, they weren't lazy with game design, if they were lazy with game design. Then there wouldn't be enough content pulled out for the 360 version to make a whole new game. Anything is better than Final Fantasy VIII though.
+BigBox GG they would have to have alot of excess content, given they were developing this game since before Kingdom hearts 2 came out.
I like the theory about Ultimecia being Rinoa, and Jenova being the real intended villain of FF7.
@@Cloud88Skywalker yes! You explained that train of thought better than I ever could and is the reason I hate FFXIII's battle system! 👏
what if Tidus is real but everyone else is a dream
Mind = Blown
could be either are or both
Tidus got out of the matrix when he "died" on spira
lol
Tbh that sounds more realistic. i mean think about it before a big game a pro athlete sick of his life dreams up a world where he's important and a hero.
In FF6 Cid is Yellow and Orange. My theory? He's a walking, talking piece of candy corn. FF7's Cid is a walking , talking pack of Cigarettes. FF8's Cid.....Robin Williams....
or.. every Final fantasy is just a dream from the fayth in final fantasy 10. those dead people have nothing to do but dreaming endlessly
Guide to every final fantasy:
1. Parents are dead.
2. Crystals = magic
3. Summons are a thing
4. The strength to fight against overwhelming odds was actually inside you ALL ALONG
5. Bahamut is the most badass thing in the game.
except in final fantasy 9 where alexander whoops his ass
Final Fantasy XIII was developed in such a way that various teams were designing environments and monsters independently of one another long before a story was fleshed out.
I believe that the story was developed in order to rationalize the corridors, not the other way around. I love that game so much.
Yeah I agree, I definitely think the aesthetics of FFXIII were the best and most fleshed out part of the game. You can tell they wanted to do something big for next gen hardware in making the worlds of Cocoon and Pulse. Definitely one of my favorite FFs.
I have a theory regarding Final Fantasy. It goes like this:
When Hironobu Sakaguchi left the company, the people who were left in charge didn't know what to do and began to screw up the franchise.
+Francisco González (Panchorco) but 13 is the only bad game... :P I mean the others are all of a standard that is kept. Where as 13 is the only lacking one.
+Francisco González (Panchorco) I know right everything went t shit after square soft left.
+Jake Muir 12? What about 12, 11, 14, and 15? Those massively changed the standards. I have a friend who wont play anything before eleven because he doesn't like the gameplay.
+Kelsey Davis Square Soft didn't leave they combined with Enix. That is why it is Square Enix.
You could also say that this connects VIII to X as well. A summoners guardian becoming a fayth
+dentedsky and this is why i fucking love dissidia
Well dissidia 3 is a thing I wonder how the story will be in that game
@@dented5ky which Garland?
I cant believe that the Rinoa is Ultimecia theory isn't here...
Well maybe the theory is right. Squall is dead and...
turned into the 1st Sin ever... LoL...
Ali Wardhana LoL = League of Legends
Really liked the "Worlds are connected Theory". There must be an admin called "Cid" who controls everything behind the scenes and his assistants, "Wedge" and "Biggs". Maybe the 'real God' isn't Kefka, but Cid. :>
+Runte yep There's always an NPC named Cid in FFs...
And a Wedge and Biggs style character too :)
We already know that Rufus is a good guy as Reeves in Dirge of Cerberus said that his organization was funded by Rufus.
+Rafahil yep, it was the father and his ancestors before him that did the bad thing..
+Rafahil I wouldn't say he's a good guy, just someone that wants the world not to end.
Alexander Greitl Well we can't know for sure whether he really is good or bad, they didn't really go in to it too much so I guess it's up to us to interpret it as we wish.
+Alexander Greitl That sounds like a "realistic" good guy. Maybe not a fantasy "hero" archetype but "good" seems more fitting than "evil".
+Alexander Greitl The type that's like 'How can I take over the world if there IS no world'?
[Spoilers for FFXIV] In Patch 3.4 of Final Fantasy 14, the Warriors of darkness say that there are other worlds out there, and that there are 13-14 more of them. Some of them destroyed, some of them on the verge of destruction, etc.
How can you have spoilers for something like XIV, an MMO?
TheSefirosu200x
Some MMOs have actual good stories.
it's a really story heavy mmo
I recall the Warriors of Darkness saying that there are 9 "shards of the Source", basically alternate timelines and realities of the same world. One of the shards was consumed in darkness, and became the Void.
Yeah, right, and I can transform into a cow when there's a full moon. No, really.
Love all the hate FFXIII gets for being linear when FFX is really just as linear
True. That's a fair point
To be fair, there are NPCs in Nautolis (however it's spelt) and Eden at the end
+Blaine Butler no, its that they tried and failed horribly
+chapachuu we need a gilgamesh hack n slash game
the multiverse is not a theory, but a "of course is like that" otherwise they wouldn't be able to make cross over etc, kingdom heart is one of them, FF brave exvius FFRK same.
+Adrian Jacobsen nice theory, but there are two reasons that can't be:
- FF XV has the fabula nova crystallis as basic lore, the new world isn't part of that. (though it's possible to come up with explanations to work around this)
- the world seen at the end of Lightning Returns is actually our world. when they show the new world, you can clearly recognize africa and lightning describes the world as the world you were born in, talking to the player directly.
+ekulerudamuru that might actually be the reason for the naming "versus XIII", though i think the change happened more due to the huge overbudgeting of the project so they had to turn it into a standalone game.
Ral Garog oh yeah, forgot that tag line. honestly i'm trying to stay a way from much of the FF XV news because i dont want to spoil myself (no demo for me^^)
but at the end of Lighning Returns it's Yeul that basically takes the place of etro for the new world.
XV's no longer part of the Fabula Nova sub-series... the world they end up after LR is actually Earth (or some version of it)... XV does not take place on Earth, tho'
+Arin Jäger So XV is not based on "reality" as it was on Versus XII 2006-11 trailers?
One thing that I find interesting is how people in general hate ff13 for being a tunnel that opens up at the end yet love ff10 for being a tunnel that opens up at the end.
"And even if it's bullshit, man, it's fun bullshit."
New life motto
Plus at the time the PS3 was still early alien tech so mash that with an odd developer who wants to tinker with their baby
lol ff13 just sucked
The Squall is Dead theory is so unfounded that when I posted on the SquallisDead website and refuted it with hard facts about the game itself, they threw a fit and banned me, lol.
I'd like to know what you said to them because I think the Squall is dead theory is bull crap too. Lol
😐
...
😕
😨
it all makes sense
That's another straight way to say it lol...
kenji harima naaah... thats to complicated to be true
Ismael HDalyth devs like to complicate things *cough Kojima Productions
They ran out of so many ideas, that in ffxiii : lightning returns, *SPOILER* if you manage to get the final day, when the game ends, they all teleport to earth and Lightning ends up in France.
it's not sephiroth in ff7 hr died in crisis core it's jeonova wandering around using sephiroth as a disguise. It's actually shown that one o jenovas power is shape shift and when you return to the mako reactor that something broke out of the test tube from the inside
What about the Jenova bosses? I'm not really into fan theories but I just kind of want to know about that.
The real Sephiroth is trapped in a crystal that you see when the weapons awaken. The Sephiroth you see before then is Jenova being used as a puppet
Jenova probably disguised herself because she was naked and didn't want to be seen indecent. lol :P
The naked and indecent theory make a lot of sense.
That would explain why, when you look in the window to Jenova's chamber in Cloud's flashback story to the Nibleheim reactor- in the original JP version, she says "ザックス, エッチ!"
Final Fantasy 15 is the world that lightning was talking about .
Nah the world is our Earth.
Final Fantasy 15 exists in a world where the Final Fantasy stories exist as games, thats why they have the soundtracks and Prompto knows the victory song.
@@ZanMindtrip Just like real life,
Final Fantasy 9 when Ramuh tells his story to Garnet he is describing events that happened to Josef in Final Fantasy 2.
Except…the FFXIII one isn't a theory. They stated that it was their intention while designing the game. In multiple interviews.
There has to be one theory about the moggles, there is something about them that I can't wrap my mind around...
ChillMusicFaves
Is it the theory about how both Moogles and Chocobos are extinct in the very first game?
That one should be interesting and look into, they were never around in the first game
+Nicholas O'Maley It's the only reason why I am going to buy a PS4.
+Mr. Moogle Kupo?
+LN1440 I thought the battle system was pretty cool
Benjamin Hurley
Nothing says cool like "This AI party member is the tank, this AI party member is the healer, time to just hold my finger down and watch Auto-Battle do its job."
+LN1440 All a matter of opinion I guess.
Don't forgwt FFI's Lunar Cry, where millions of monsters spill from the moon when all the proper elements are in place! 👍
I don't like FFXIII because is auto-battles for the most part, unless you're switching rhe roles of the characters. So boring!
FFX + FFVII is pretty legit (There is so much more than just the Shinra connection). I should do a video where I explain that...
Have you made that video? I would like to see it.
As an additional bit of evidence for the worlds of Final Fantasy being linked, let's just look at the Highwind lineage.
Final Fantasy II (JP): Ricard Highwind - The first in what may be a long line of Dragoons.
Final Fantasy IV: Kain Highwind - The next elite Dragoon that stars in one of the games, may be many generations removed from Ricard
Final Fantasy VII: Cid Highwind - Though he lacks the Dragoon title, given that the kingdoms have given way for the super-city Midgar, several aspects of the Dragoon class are obvious.
Sephiroth and Vincent are half brothers *drops the mic*
Father and son is actually the one I've heard. that Vincent is Sephiroths father
that is correct sir. MB Z knows his VII lore.
@@MikoOverloard Hojo actually banged Lucrecia & fathered Sephiroth... that is actually in the original final fantasy 7 game!
And In Kingdom hearts, it's a mutivirests, and that's tied in to FF.
in addition, IX was intended to be the link between the games - similar to XIV. This concept isn't new.
Are you saying the developers did a boring game on purpose and that that is a good thing?
@@Cloud88Skywalker It's not boring lol
@@harleyrobb3034 how many times have yo started playing again each FF? That will tell you if one or more of them are boring or not.
In my case, I've played FF 6, 7, 8 & 9 more than 10 times each, many of those times also completing the various optional quests.
Only 1 run of FF 10 and 12, but both longer than 250h.
I finished FF 13 justo not to feel that I threw my money to the sewers. And less than a week after finishing it and "exploring" pulse I stopped playing to never again touch the game nor feel like playing again.
Wedge and Biggs are actually Star Wars characters!! :O
Wedge and Biggs are in most final fantasy games actually... I only know about 7 and 10 but I also know theyre in more. (in 10 they are blitzball players that can be recruited)
wedge & Biggs started in ff6. they were the 2 soldiers at the beginning with Terra.
They are servants of the Empire in 6 and 8, while being rebel scum in 7.
@@bigchop80 no they started in part 1
"And even if it's bullshit, man, it's fun bullshit."
That's the best thing I've heard said for weeks! I think that applies not only to the Final Fantasy series, but so many other games out there as well.
I have a few Final Fantasy theories:
1- Cloud's mother was experimented on like how Sephiroth's mother was by Hojo, but the experiment failed and he just ditched them afterwards.
He used Cloud to kill president Shinra and then lead him back into the cell before escaping.
edit:
8- ANOTHER FF VII one: The Turks have no free will and are likely clones. They served President Shinra and destroyed Sector 7 just as he wanted. After his death, they became bound to Rufus and followed his bidding.
FF8 - RINOA IS ULTIMECIA.
Some internet junkies claimed that Square Enix denied this. But that is a lie, Square Enix never confirmed nor denied the theory.
no she is not that is a stupid theory.
antonio A U mad bro?
deadbutmoving
nope
antonio A
yes you are.
deadbutmoving
nope. you must have never played ff8
The problem is that FFXV was moved to PS4 exactly because of those limitations.
I can definitely see how it transformed over the years and I see how the same concepts are kept intact even though it seems to me that many people don't seem to see it that way; I personally don't understand why, because when you examine the deeper relationships between the games it's clear to me that while XV is a different game from the original idea of Versus XIII, it's not different enough to say that there is no similarity whatsoever, especially in essence.
ever play Radical Dreamers?
Cameron Jackson Yeah, that's why I named Magil in my original message
I agree with this. Final Fantasy Record Keeper tells me so.
i like that multiverse theory. every world has their own way to summon the dimentional rips (materia, fayth, crystals), and call them different names (espers, aeons, gf)
I remember seeing a theory that Rinoa is Ultimecia, but I know nothing about it.
Seth Matteson it involves time shenanigans
Time shenanigans? I know just the guy for that! Oh, Diavooooolooooooooooo!
that one makes more sense than Squall being dead.
It actually makes a lot of sense, and holds up to close scrutiny, UNLIKE Squall is dead, which is just ridiculous.
That's cool that they can be connected, but if i have to save one more goddamn crystal....
FF15 was the last game in the Fubula Nova Crystallis series so you won't. I personally loved it though and wouldn't mind another game in this series.
They literally tell you that the multiverse theory is canon when you play FFXIV.
WAIT LIGHT WAS IN 14?! Maaaaan I am sad I missed that event, who's the chick from the last expansion in XI that stayed? Was it like Krile or something?
I've always liked to think that Terra from Final Fantasy IX is a future version of the world of Final Fantasy VII, after they milked the planet dry.
That's not where the heart is.
No you're right. But I'm pretty sure anyone would die from a hit like this in there
I don't know, the first scene in the game he gets his face slashed open and still made it to class lol.
Someone just phoenix downed him, or cast revive, and he was all better. This is an established possibility in the FF games. *Drops Mic*
My biggest theory, that no one believes is, that SE will eventually make another good Final Fantasy
I never said, that they were bad games, they are however not good FINAL FANTASY games
Jimmy De'Souza Yes exactly. I think we are on the same page
The first theory isn't really a theory. It's been established for a while that all of the Final Fantasy worlds are connected through The Void.
Established when and by who? At least cite your sources.
TheRealYoshihito
Established by nobody since forever. It's just how their universe is. And really? "Cite your source"? It was from the Dissidia games, but this isn't a college essay.
Dissidia isn't canon and shouldn't be treated as such.
Sam Dark
Actually, they ARE canon. How 'bout that?
Masterxl MVs You can't claim something without sources to back it up. If it worked like that we could claim whatever we wanted.
Did you know that Squall and Cloud are actually brothers?
Huh, I just assumed that all the worlds were connected, I mean-being the same series, and having all these recurring elements, not to mention all the references to other games within each of them. I thought it was Cannon, but it's not confirmed?
No... coz SE afraid the hardcore fans would be really really mad.
Well back in the 80's they planned to make Final Fantasy the only Final Fantasy, and then it freaking became a wild success and they did not plan for sequels so they decided to make most of the games take place in their own separate Universes. Yup
Because they were going out of business and it was going to be there last game they made if I'm correct.
Lightning has already crossed over to the ffxiv universe
Cloud killed Aerith. Game Theory proves it.
+Mike Abundo Can't wait to see how they portray that scene in the remake. I'm hoping they show more details to either prove or disprove it.
+Stormocity I'm Glad I get to see aerith die in hd now
+Mike Abundo I saw that one.
Best final fantasy to me is 12
jack brearley I would say the same thing if Vaan was not a thing. Spend over 200 hours on my first play-through. And I have no love for Penelo and indeed most of the other characters either.
Balthier basch and Fran gabranth and zecht we're the most interesting well apart from Fran's voice which I found grating
jack brearley I loved Fran, coz she was a mystery. I did not care for Basch, he was a dick. The true protagonist should have been Reks. Also Vayne was the best character in there, maybe after Balthier, just maybe. Oh and lets not forget Larsa.
Still gotta say gabranth by the far is the best character I've ever witnessed in a ff game
jack brearley Well if I was to choose the best character in all final fantasy it would most certainly have to be Anima. If we are talking main character (don't think summons count as either main or characters) it would have to be Vincent. After all he is a motherfucking beast.
In Advent children Rufus actually didn't seem like a Bad guy at all, might be true
and in the Second After I Write that it's Said in the Video xD
In Dirge of Cerberus it is heavily implied that Rufus Shinra is funding the WRO to repair the planet.
My memory is super fuzzy, atm, since it's been so long, but, didn't Cait Sith have something to do with Rufus, as well?
Bredon Turner. If I remember correctly, Cait Sith was Rufus the whole time. Cait was actually a machine/robot that Rufus controlled.
Yeah I remember Cait being a puppet of some sort just couldn't remember, exactly, who controlled it.
two games support that multiverse theory as well;
FFIX has 2 worlds where one is grooming the other in order to settle there and abandon their homeworld/universe
FFT (first one) has an Easter-egg where Cloud [FFVII] becomes a part of your army.
