We need Al Bundy more today than ever.
One of the best statement in modern day society.
No kidding!!! The era of " I'm offended" take everything
His best words of wisdom "Do not try to understand women, they understand each other and hate each-other."

What's need to be offended is already offended.
I'm glad I grew up when jokes were not considered "shaming".

Now they have Andrew Tate.
Life was good before "you hurt my feelings" era and when the world had a sense of humor.
Most of those fat jokes were written by the female comedians he was insulting on the show.
And most of the Chicken jokes came from "Marcy"^^
And I'm sure they were offended all the way to the bank
Marcy and Peg and Kelly wrote the "Camping Episode" the 2nd episode ever with the best jokes and it was censored even back then and it was the woman who wrote it...
and the other half of the creators of the show is black..
So watching this show, it help to know that not only did woman write many of these jokes and episodes, but a black dude also helped and created it.. People have got so but hurt over the jokes and some of the context in many of the episodes with out realizing who help write and create those episodes and jokes in the 1st place...
@@eviljuice1774 Exactly. Also, Marcy was played by Amanda Bearse, an out lesbian. She directed a lot of episodes and had a lot of influence on the direction of the show. Back then, there weren't a lot of out gay people in positions of power.
@@mprice6683 Yep.... and be that crazy and funny.. And be able to make fun of them selves. There was backstage drama, between Al and Marcy, but it never effected the show, or its jokes and its tone... Married with Children should be a requirement in all schools.. lol
Before everyone got all butthurt and triggered over everything.
I think its 50/50...far too many were taking the good natured, humorous, general themed jokes and insults like what Al Bundy does and taking license to pass off mean spirited bad faith crossing/blurring the line, racist, culturally biased, misandrist/misognystic or homophobic vitriol as good natured jokes and insults. American society has always gone through upheaval and change of accepted/unaccepted social media norms...hell look back at when Tipper Gore's Parents Music Resource Center was censoring music. From back then to this day Hip Hop is still the favorite kicking dog of primarily white conservatives and some liberals.
Exactly!!!!! We live in a sad sad world where you're not supposed to enjoy comedy apparently.
Like people that get all butthurt and triggered by other people's opinions? 😅
The lady who hold the 🐓 was the next door and red head was his wife.
I’m happy because was some young people and some people around your age saying those of sitcom or tv show from those times are disgusting and should be ban because think are thinking what would work in today’s times. We don’t want same people will think about tv show and 🌎 because of their opinions
Married With Children was incredibly controversial at the time, stop pretending this wasn't shocking back then because it was.
You have to remember, this was from ten years of shows. This wasn't the only theme of the show. Poor Al definitely got his too.
Yea.. but it also was a lot more
Ya he usually insulted people cause they insulted him too
10 years of shows but there were jokes like this in every episode.
also there were a lot of female writers on the show for that day and age, the actress playing marcy (the skinny one) was one of them if i remember, she was literally roasting her own looks. "body shaming" they call nowadays was just dumb jokes back then. and if you are able to laugh at yourself it probably is better for you mentally i think. at least better than making all the people around you say you are really pretty and brave when all of you know they are lying. no one is perfect and imperfections we have differ us from other people. why not make fun of ourselves (even with the things we can't change (i am not talking about bullying, pulling each-other's legs of mutually is more sane than lying all the time)) i have a really big nose and i laugh when my friends make a joke about it sincerely. never made me feel uncomfortable or even think of getting a rhinoplasty. it gives me a distinct look and the opportunity to make fun of their distinguished features. but people trying to cancel everyone for these kind of jokes nowadays are just too boring.
tbh, i'd rather being made of my looks, personality, the way i dress everyday rather than having people keeping their thoughts to themselves and lying on my face that i am great instead of having fun together of each others' imperfections.
Arrrrr AL Bundy, funny 😂😂😂😂😂😂

It’s not shaming it’s just the truth😂
The show ran from 1987 to 1997, and was more of an antithesis of the most popular family sitcoms on television at the time. It was basically about a struggling shoe salesman who got married and had kids right out of high school. The show was filled with sarcasm and insults of all kinds while dealing with everyday life. Whoever put together this compilation obviously liked "fat jokes" as they make up the bulk of the video..... but to place it in proper perspective, there were 259 episodes over the course of 11 seasons.... so if you saw 2 or 3 fat jokes over the course of a 24-episode season, it wasn't as often as these clips make it out to be. If this were all the show was about, it would have never been as popular or as long-lasting as it was. There was really good on-screen chemistry between the cast, and they played well off of one another; and it was well-written. That's what made the show so popular.
My generation (Gen X) loves sarcasm and cynicism, and this show was the very first to use those types of comedy as its core interactions.
We learned sarcasm from the best. Al Bundy and Waldorf & Statler 😄
Second that. Was kind of scandalous when it first came out which I think caused a lot of people to watch it who may not have otherwise.
This shoud be mandatory in schools do the kids dont get so vimsy with insults.
@@matsv201 what the hell is "vimsy"?

Another thing that I have not seen commented yet.
The "fat jokes" were written by the women in the sketch. They were comedians back then and to be roasted on this show was something special.
Marcy who he constantly called a little boy or a chicken, also wrote the jokes directed at her.
He constantly picked on her because she constantly picked at him.
As another pointed out We (Gen X) were raised on sarcasm and cynicism, and loved it.
But they explained the rest. So, I don't need to go into it as they said it, already.
But everyone Al knew or met treated him like crap and his response was to give that attitude right back.
I was 7 going on 8 when this show came out and it was hilarious.
He is still my hero, between him and Sam Malone from Cheer's are my heroes. I'm a proud member of NO MA'AM, the "National Organization of Men Against Amazonian Masterhood."
@@alricaneshama Yes true. like in the movie "Blazing Saddles" Richard Pryor wrote a lot of the racist "black jokes"
It is still one of the best tv show ever made ans I still enjoy rewatching it today 😊
Al Bundy will always be a true legend and a hero 😂
And speaking of Cheers (also one of the greatest show ever), my hero from that show has always been Norman Peterson 😂
This show was so much fun. 😂
That was only a fraction of the insults in that show. But it’s not just Al insulting others. The whole family plus the neighbors throw them back and forth. The best show ever.
Al Bundy also received a constant stream of insults of his manhood from his wife, Peggy. And the teenage children frequently insulted each other with the younger Brother insulting his big Sister for being shall we say, less than virtuous, and having less than average intelligence. While the big sister insulted her smarter brother for being a "girl repellent" and often dateless.
Also, there have been some great guest appearances on the show from Pamela Anderson, Milla Jovovich, Tia Carrere, Tina Louise, Linda Blair, Terry Bradshaw, Tim Conway, Robert Englund, Corey Feldman, Fergie, Waylon Jennings, B.B. King, Jon Lovitz, Jerry Mathers (The Beaver), Joe Namath, and many, many more celebrities.
There was also a rival TV show at the time called, "Unhappily Ever After" which had a similar dysfunctional family. Though it was never as popular as Married with Children.
Don’t forget Matt LeBlanc before he got on Friends.
Sam Kinison. 😎👍
the creators of "Married with children" were the same creators to make "unhappily ever After" Ronald Leavitt & Michael G. Moye were the master minds behind those tv shows
This was a great show when I was growing up, miss this kind of humor
A thing to remember is, that when you work retail as long as Al has, you'll become the exact same. lol. Retail changes people. Years ago, there was a heavy-set lady that came into the store I worked at, wanting to return a shirt because the tag said it was XL, but it couldn't be an XL because it didn't fit her and she was an XL. I came soooooo very close to imitating Al by saying something to the effect of "if the shirt is an XL and it is too small on you, then...." but I held my tongue. lol.
If the shirt was XL and it was too small, you could exchange it for another shirt with "Goodyear" written on it.
I worked retail as the store's I.T. guy for 7 years.
I was Al Bundy!
Store personnel that are still there talk about me.
And I actually told someone to put the computer back in the box and return it, this machine is smarter than you will ever be!
God's honest truth. I once had to walk out of the store and smoke a couple of cigarettes. Some Asian guy bought a PDA and was still in the building complaining why it didn't work like his old one. He wanted me and my partner to teach him how to use it. Now mind you, we've got 60 to 100 people walking into our office everyday asking for computer help. Quite busy. I asked him if he skimmed through the manual to find out? RTFM people! He got me so riled up, I was about to pick him up and body slam him. I asked my partner if he could handle this one, I need to go outside for a bit. Customer insults don't sit well with me when I'm trying to help them.
Only got called to HR once, because I refuse to help a guy I knew was trying to scam us. Didn't even get a write up over it.
Every now and then, there's a day where "Married with Children" is on TV for multiple hours. Always a good time.
One of the BEST shows of its time.
This is normal behavior unlike today’s wokeness

I literally cant work anymore. As someone who's high functioning autistic. I cant even talk to co workers anymore without them getting offended.
If we ever went to war with Russia we're doomed.
al is actually a hell of a nice guy! you'll see for yourself when you watch "al bundy beats people up"! 😂
Married with Children was not a show, it was a documentary.
Absolutely. A place I was a bartender at we had Married With Children Sunday nights. We'd unplug the juke box and everyone watched on the big screen we had.
It was shown from 1987 to 1997.
Al is awesome 👌 😅😂
I was born in 1977, so I grew up watching lots of reruns from sitcoms of the previous decades that were still on syndication and beloved by many (e.g., I Love Lucy, Happy Days, The Beverly Hillbillies, Maud, One Dat At A Time, Leave It To Beaver, The Brady Bunch, The Andy Griffith Show, etc.). Married With Children was the first show that didn't depict a perfect American family. Instead, they focused on a more realistic dysfunctional family that they then exaggerated a step further to turn it into insult situation comedy (aka, sitcom). People embraced it because it was brutally honest and relatable, but also hilarious. As ghetto as they were though, and as much as they loved to insult and attack each other, they also had each other's back whenever someone else tried anything with them. Anybody with siblings understands that scenario! There's even a compilation of Al's handling (or rather, mishandling) of his daughter's (Kelly, or as he called her, Pumpkin) boyfriends/dates. Plus, there was also a lot of sexism and sexuality in general that appealed to young boys who watched the program (the son Bud is actually quite the horny wannabe womanizer). The show would never be produced today, only because comedy in general is dying and everybody is so easily offended these days. Back then though, we could laugh at each other and just go about our day like normal. Insult comedy was the most common, just look at videos of Def Comedy Jam that used to air on HBO in the 90's. It was mostly all black comics and they'd make some of the most sexist, bigoted, racist jokes ever about white people AND black people; or even about themselves. The host, Martin Lawrence (then Joe Tory) would usually open up by insulting members of the crowd. That shit was hilarious!
This is what made this show so great. And of course, Kelly.
.Sad thing about Christina Applegate. She's not doing so great these days, and it's heartbreaking. I never heard anything bad about her, but she has a disease that basically cripples her daily life, and makes her depressed. She says she can't even do simple things like walking up stairs anymore.
Married with Children was one of my favorite sitcoms in the 80s. Al Bundy and the other cast are amazing.
I laugh every time I watch this show.
Love this show as a teenager lol.. this and In Living Color were the best of TV
This show was hilarious. The short haired woman was his neighbor Marcy. He would always call her a chicken. When u have a chance, check out Sanford & Son, a funny show from the '70s
Fun fact the lady that plays Marcy the one that he keeps calling a chicken and gave her tips on how to be more attractive she is actually one of the directors and actually came up with most of Als insults throughout the show. I'm a huge fan of this show its a big part of my childhood. Thanks for sharing great video😂
Hahahahahaha I miss this show 😭
It was a golden age back then.
People had a sense of humor back then and didn’t have to worry about walking on egg shells.
We wouldn't have to if some of you all would grow a set and a backbone! At least Al was always honest.

- The best part about their feudal on-screen relationship was the fact that they actually couldn't stand each other in real life either.
At least she didn't go over well with him, pretty much the same as with Uma Thurman and Daryl Hannah.
There were plans for a movie trilogy of the 'Kill Bill'-story, but Daryl Hannah couldn't stand Uma Thurman, hence only two movies came out.

I just checked IMDB. The show aired from 1987-1997. I used to watch it all the time with my dad and brother. It was a comedy show, and his wife used to sit at home all day watching soap operas and eating bonbons. And she never cooked for him. And his daughter was a promiscuous teenager who wasn't very intelligent. Milla Jovovich was on one episode playing a foreign exchange student.

We loved this television series.
This was a great show from back when people had a sense of humor.
The jokes make more sense when you see them in context instead of these short clips. Every character in the show was as bad or worse than Al, but in different ways. And all those characters playing off of each other made for some great comedy.

the show had quite a few now famous faces making pre-fame appearances. including, Milla Jovovich, Mat Leblanc. and Robert Englund (Freddy Kruger) did as guest star roll as the devil.
You known, the “woman with the short hair” was a director of several of the episodes of “Married with Children”? And Al “Four touchdowns in one game” Bandy is/was most successful shoe salesmen of the 90’s.

I love that show I grew up watching it 😊
Al Bundy was a man's man...and my hero! That show put FOX network on the map. I still have, and wear Al's high school football jersey. If you thinks he's bad, check out Archie Bunker.
The woman with the short hair was actually a co producer of the show for a good part of it. One thing that show did was they didn't put any insults in unless the person getting insulted was ok with it. Most of the bigger women who were getting made fun of were also stand up comedians and stood in line for hours to audition for the show and they wrote the actual insults made against them. Most of the insults in the show the person getting insulted wrote them about themselves. Marcy (the short haird girl) and Al (the one doing all the insults in this) couldn't stand each other though and agreed they would just go balls to the walls so a lot of theirs was ad lib to each other and somehow that made working with each other better because they got to take it out on each other.
"Married with Children" was an American sitcom that ran from 1987 to 1997 and was meant to be the opposite of sitcoms of the time. In fact, the show's working title was "Not the Cosbys."
So, Al Bundy's actor didn't rape anyone? What a shame...

Al Bundy was my dads hero! I absolutely loved watching this show as a kid!
Al Bundy, the legend. Merried with Children ran from 1987 threw 1997
Ed O'Neal (AL Bundy) is also Jay on Modern Family. The fat jokes, which were often written by the women themselves, were really a mockery of Al. He worked in a women's shoe store but rarely had the pleasure of hot women to wait on. He basically peaked in high school and quickly got trapped into marriage. He was a star great football player in high school and thought he was destined for greatness.
Ir was the late 80's early 90's You need to watch the series to understand this better. it was back in the day where people were not sensitive. Fox just started and played Married with Children for 10 years. Watch season one and it will explain alot. The show is basicly of a high school jock who is a loser in adult life. has two kids and a wife who dont show him any respect. Marcy the one he calls a little boy torments him so his insults are his way of dealing with it. We need more guys like Al Bundy in this day and age.

This was an absolutely art of this world show at the time. And all of the cast Was.
Paid very well to accept those puns.
Bring back the good all days
Great show, very funny and lasted for 11 seasons. They say it was cancelled due to production costs being too high but most fans believe it was at least partly due to differences between Ed O’Neil (Al Bundy) and Amanda Bearse (Marcy) who had started directing most of the episodes. Most cast members learned of the cancellation second hand and were not told personally which seems to suggest internal conflicts as playing a role. There were no final moments, no thank you’s for all the great years. Nope just cancelled and we are not even going to tell you.
Married with children was the funniest show on tv 🤣From April 5, 1987, to June 9, 1997, but unfortunately today they would never allow a show like that on tv 😭 thx for the memory's..
Edd ONeil was also a very "funny but mean" and direct person in real life back in the days.
One reason the show ended was him and Amanda (Marcy) had a big falling out. When Amanda married her long time girl friend. EVERYONE who had ever worked on the show was invited, EXAPT Edd and David Faustino (who played the son). Edd took it very personal and when he confronted Amanda with it, she said something like "I couldnt invite you. I thought you will make fun of it." Edd replied "Of couse i would, two women in white tuxidos, looks redicoulus"
During development, before they had decided on a title for the show, they referred to it as "anti-Cosby". This was back when The Cosby Show was considered the most wholesome show on Earth, and secrets from behind the scene were still secret.
What I find humorously ironic is that Bill Cosby played the "Iconic Wholesome Father" and we all know about his scandalous real life behavior, yet Edd O'Neil played a character known for his cruel and insensitive comments to women yet in real life maintains a sterling reputation as an actor and as a person - NO scandals!
Yep. The working title was "Not the Cosbys"
This was one of the best tv sitcoms to be made.
I miss shows like this
Hero Al
Justa FIY about the 'fat shaming', this was a different time before everyone became triggered over everything. And, here is the important part, those 'fat' jokes were mostly written by the women in the show whom Al 'insulted'.
The short haired woman is Amanda Bearse and she's one of the producers, but also plays the Neighbor Marcy. She wrote or co-wrote most of the jokes Al makes about her in the show.
