Yup, part of Bundy's backstory is that he was a high school football star who never made it on the college level. In reality, Ed O'Neill (the actor) was so good in college football that he had a tryout in the NFL (Pittsburgh Steelers). And he holds a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Like many sitcoms of the time, the show has everyone insulting each other. But if anyone outside the Bundy family picks on one of them, they'll have to fight the whole family.
Ah yes, one of the greatest sitcom's ever made - Married with Children. Bundy family always teased each other and had fun at each other expense every now and then, but they always stick together. Anyone who messed with any family member faced the whole family and they always had each other's backs when needed. Definitely a show worth watching, from a better time when people knew how to make a joke and receive a joke.
Your reactions to the Married With Children videos are pure gold, as watching your first time reactions to scenes, insults and jokes in the show without any context are hilarious. The show lasted for 11 seasons and was really groundbreaking for its time. I noticed that other commenters have given you background on the Al Bundy character, but if you can watch beginning to end for the 200+ episodes, I think you'll really enjoy it
Not only was he a football star in high school, but he had to immediately get married. Got a dead end job and had kids. So he had a lot of disappointment and built up rage and was looking for a reason to unleash it.
Basic plot for Al's character.....He's a shoe salesman. Nothing more. He has been beat down by life and none of his dreams have come true. His wife nags him and his kids are mostly disrespectful and out of control. He played football in high school and dreamed of being a superstar football player and that never happened. But no matter what else is said or done or how miserable he is he sticks with his wife and kids. His one small super power is that he can fight when he feels he needs to. The show changed a lot over the years as shows have to to try and stay interesting. But the 1st 5 seasons were really good. It was a shocking and ground breaking show to many here in the USA when it first came out.
Yes he is stuck in a dead Beat job he hates, his wife doesn't cook or clean just waste his few bucks he earns. His daughter is the sofa of the town and his son an incel. They can't stand eachother but they are a family that still love eachother. You can't make this kind of shows anymore because everyone is snowflaking over everything. I work with only men and the amount of trans jokes i get a day. I would not be able to work if i can handle them. Because i know all off those guys will help me if a real transphobe would hurt me. Thats his family they are mean to eachother but they don't mean it
One of the reasons behind making the show was to parody all the 'nice' family shows like the Cosby show and others. I loved this show, I am in Australia and it was very big here. There have been other versions made in other countrys including Russia of all places.
Funny story about the scene where he beats up the boy for the daughter that was David Boreanaz aka Angel from buffy the vampire slayer and the self titled series. the girl running away was a real reaction because ed O'neil (al) is that imposing of a figure in real life he's not small. She ran seeing him charging and David said he almost soiled himself seeing him run at him even though he knew it was fake.
When I was a little kid (late '80s/early '90s), I remember my mom hating this show lol. I always thought it was funny in a very not politically correct sort of way. Some of the episodes have such dumb stories but are handled in hilarious ways. I do think there was some good talent on this show.
It's because Al Bundy represents "The working blue collar class" in a world of white collar surprising financial dominance there comes a certain amount of pride as Bundy takes the last win if and when push comes to shove, usually deserved and respected. It's also a way for Al to finally get a little bit of that chip off his shoulder he's been carrying his whole life from being dealt a lot of unfortunate hands. lol
The funny thing is, you'll see their family dynamic as hating each other while under the same roof but outside of that they'll absolutely pull together as "team bundy" if anyone else steps on one of their own :p
The funny thing was he was mid or late 40s when this was may the actor who played Al Bundy and it was pretty much every episode he got to beat up a boyfriend of Kelly’s that you just seen and a lot of the actors where now and the boyfriend all knew it was a 1 episode deal one of the actors was Matt Leblanc Joey on friends but he said in a interview he did audition for Newman in signfelt and he got a callback so it was not do a job I’m getting paid for in hopes to get a job that’s crazy but when signfelt came out Matt Leblanc said that roll was made for Wayne Knight I’m glad he missed the 2ed audition and just 11 years later when he became Joey on friends he was a loved character for season 1 And the friends director said I saw you on married with children and I called your agent to get you to try this part and I’m glad you got it so it shows sometimes it’s 11 years later but a short 1 episodes non major roll can lead to the right writer to say I’m going to remember him
omg, thanks for saying that......also she says every thought like every thought is important.....LOL....she needs a little discretion as to how much to say and when....
He is fit because he was a high school football star, with four touch downs in one game, which is almost impossible, except for Al Bundy. :)
I did
Ed O'Neil who plays Al Bundy have trained Martial Arts for many years. Thats why he is so fit
@@Splurr
Second degree black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu.

i like that
IIRC he studied under the famous Gracie brothers.
We need more Al Bundys in this snowflake world.
They wouldn't make great comedy like this today.
But they should
Unfortunately, it will get canceled quickly.
...and that`s a shame!
People would often forget that Al was good at football and fighting
And bowling

This was a great sitcom. I miss it. It made me laugh. Nice reaction
thanks!
Dont miss it, rewatch it 👍
Al Bundy is Ed O'Neill from Married with children and he's also the grandfather in modern family

thanks! tomorrow i will probably react to the first episode
Couldn't click fast enough on the video.
In bundy we trust

I miss the great and powerful Al Bundy.
Ed O'Neill was an NFL prospect and a High School History teacher before he began acting.
"He's a really good dad apparently." 🤣🤣 Great reaction.
thanks!

He fell off the roof, multiple times I think. Did he ever get hurt?
And don't forget! Disrespecting the Bundy family, the whole family comes together. Nobody messes with the Bundy's, only the Bundy's themselves

"He gave me his popcorn." 🤣😂
Al is just telling the truth..and truth hurts
Best job I ever had was being a phone technician at Columbia Studios during the shows run. Until their last season when they moved to Sony Studios.
It was 90s. Good god I miss them days. I didn't even know what a Transgender was.

THIS IS HOW IT’S DONE!
He loves his baby Girl as crazy as she is
best of all times, greets from kiel, germany
You should definitely react to “Al Bundy’s Best Insults” video. It’s impossible not to laugh at the way he roasts everyone.
She already did that one about a week before this one.
Ed O'Neill "Al Bundy" has a Jiu Jitsu Black Belt by the way, and do not mess with the Bundys.
you need to watch the full show front to back t truly enjoy this show
Remember now, people back then was capable to differentiating between jokes and actual insults.
Everything offend everyone today.
Yeah Al Bundy is pretty damn strong. Strong as two people in one.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Al rocks!
Ed O'Neill do have a black belt in Braziulian Jujutsu. :)
Ed O'Neill es cinta negra en artes marciales, no recuerdo cual exactamente. Pero se nota en las coreogeafias que hace.
I think i love you. Every Al Bundy fan have to be a good person.
But I don't like hit people as Al. Attitude to protect your own is good, but no live boxin--matchesh.
The door is his signature move! 😂😂😂
The last fight scene is oddly fatherly. No questions just "of course pumpkin" and he goes to town.
in the episode I watched a few hours ago on TV, Al was sent by a basketball player right into the basketball hoop! 😂so, he doesn't always win. 😉
Why does people think this show is real ? it is only to make us laugh and feel better /
You should react to the wisdoms of Al Bundy and Al Bundy - How was your day 🤣

1987 to 1998 the show ran

Shesh lady (I guess) your watching "comedy"
It was not the same move honey different show different seasons but yeah same move 😂
quiet, let the video be the star
Yes he was a shoe salesman, the whole show, he just had a wild side
is there any scenes where Al Bundy gets beaten up
Love the channel, keep up the good work.
