And stop talking about badge snobbery, I've test driven this, a BMW, Merc and Audi and this is the suv I have bought thanks very much it drove better than them all and handled better and was just as nice inside and had alot more toys in the spec than any of them, the tekna, and I saved myself £15000 thanks Nissan!!!!

And I’m about to do the same…they drive very very good. I was surprised coming from BMW that the x trail is just as good if not …better….the only issue…a 6 to 10 month delivery period…😮

I can tell you now no nissan will ever compare to a Audi, BMW or Merc. But if you want to save yourself some money there not far off and can be better in certain places. I had loan nissan quashqai and it felt me feal like a single mother with kids.

    • @michealkelliher8428
      @michealkelliher8428 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

@rajindernijjer I understand. Built quality wise, you are correct. But all those German cars are not the force they once used to be.
Mercedes for the last couple of years no longer uses a Mercedes engine, yet you are still paying just for the badge.
Don't get me started on BMTroubleyou. €300 for a set of windscreen wipers!! WTF!
BMTroubleyou's are nothing but a money pit. Most German cars are no longer built in Germany.
The Nissan X-Trail is still built in Japan. Makes a huge difference. No outsourcing.

I've had my Tekna e4orce for a couple of weeks and coming from a Q7 continue to be happy. The power train works well around town with only an occasional intrusive revving of the engine. If you use Eco mode it will coast like its in freewheel and still regenerate so any slope downhill can still build up the charge .

it's actually a very good proposition considering the money saved on home charger, more expensive electric bills vs petrol, and time saved in refuel/rejuice and the piece of mind going anywhere without worrying where is the charging station, all these, saved you 30-45% of fuel

I have the regular 2023 3 cylinder Rogue. The family has owned the 2013,2015 and 2017 versions of the vehicle. They have come a long way! The MPG is the best its ever been and the inside is much better. Here it the states, it is a good alternative for high demand and now more expensive mild hybrids like the Toyota RAV4 or Honda CRV.

Great insights. The very reasons I put my order in early in Sydney so my brother could consider it without very long wait times.
My brother is now waiting for a top of the line QASHQAI E Power to arrive.
Don't want a car that plugs in with heavy weight of battery technology that is likely to be out of date quite soon..
Ordered for driving experience and reasonable economy.. and no CVT hybrid drive train. No excessive use of resources to make large heavy expensive battery pack. Don't want range anxiety or poor EV infrastructure here.
Changed order to Nissan X trail E Force which is the 4WD E POWER.. Test drove. Just fabulous.
QASHQAI E Power delayed in Australia until late 2023..
X Trail with 4WD is better value

Thanks for a highly informative and well delivered review on this car. I'm in Australia and your review played a role in my decision to buy an X-Trail e-Power Ti-L (Tekna Plus in the UK I believe). A quick point on your comments whilst you were using 'sport' mode...Sport mode (according to Nissan) adjusts steering feel and input and (quote): "Adjusts e-motor torque response to improve driving agility". It's no surprise then, that in a straight line you'd feel no difference in outright acceleration. However, after engaging sport mode & chucking my car through some extended stretches of winding country roads, I can confirm that sports mode does do what Nissan claim; In sport mode, the electric motors respond more aggressively to the accelerator, and steering feel is sharper compared to standard mode. In fact chucking the car through a winding road is actually quite a lot of fun given this is near a 2 tonne car... Left the wife at home that day! 😄

Eforce is the 4wd version. The concept of petrol electric or diesel electric has been around for many decades, trains have used this platform since the 60s or before. I also believe that it doesnt use the alternator to send power to the electric motors, it is a DC inverter (thats the second coolant expansion tank under the bonnet). We have an Epower Qashqai and it is fantastic, I wouldn't have a traditional hybrid or electric car. The Xtrail was just a little out of our price range last year, when we bought the Qashqai, but we will definately be having the Epower Xtrail in january 26. We currently have a petrol manual Qashqai as the Epower broke and the parts are on back order from Japan, the fuel economy is vastly different. Epower we get 50+ mpg, standard petrol 35mpg over exactly the same roads and trips we would normally be making. Definately love our Epower.

I’ve currently narrowed it down to the Nissan X-Trail or the Toyota RAV4.
I really like the X-Tail, but what were they thinking with that brown dashboard and door trim?! It looks ok with the lighter coloured seats, but with the black seats it looks terrible. They should have gone with the dark blue used in the Qashqai. I hate it to the point that I think I’ll be going for the RAV4.

7 second acceleration is enough for me in any car. I have a such car(it's even little above 7) and most if not all the times I am the faster car in any given moment. I find myself not pushing the car most of the time even because that is adequate acceleration. Seven seconds is Soo good that I'm even looking for a tad slower but cheaper car, because as mentioned I don't really use the car's full potential in any given time, just ending up having higher consumption and higher taxes.

I don’t really understand where the consumption rates are coming from. I have a 2WD, 5 seater e-power in top spec version. Driving 90km to work on the highway (100km/h) every day gives me number of 5.7l/100km and got even 5.3l/100km. This is NH summer so I expect to be around 6l/100km in winter. So pretty close to a RaV4 😊. Drive in B-mode and in economy setting, combined with the e-pedal function you will get very acceptable consumption rates

The comparison of this hybrid system to other "more traditional" systems, whatever that means, is wrong. This is a series hybrid, the disadvantage is that using engine as a generator to produce electricity to power electric motor is inefficient. A hybrid system that can drive the wheels directly from the ICE engine will be more efficient. Look to Toyota's hybrids or even Honda's new hybrid with the option of engine driving the wheels directly.
I'm curious to see a real world comparison between this and Rav4.
It's still an interesting solution, you don't need a gearbox nor a clutch and I'm sure the experience of having 150kW+100kW electric motors would be nicer than something like Rav4.

The thing that really worries me about the e-power, which I am considering as I write, is the tiny battery. This poor thing has to charge and discharge vast amounts of energy at a phenomenal rate, even with the engine power going directly to the inverter to help the battery cope.. so how can/does it cope? Well there’s that tiny ability to drive full EV around town. All feels a bit flaky to me. After a year or so of hammering the battery like this what’s going to be left capacity wise. Guess it’s an expensive replacement after warranty. Efficiency too makes me wonder. Each component in this power train engine/ generator/inverter/ battery/ motor has a level of energy wastage/loss. A lot of components surely means a lot of wastage, which means putting a lot more in, to get what you need out? Can’t wait for your review of the new Qashqai with e-power!

My brother gets his X Trail E Force Ti here in Australia in two weeks.
Poor charging infrastructure and restricted ability to plug in are other reasons this delightful vehicle was the only choice.
Hired a RAV4 Hybrid and was underwhelmed plus 2 year wait time because it is so popular. X Trail E Force was 3 months wait. Bet that becomes 6 months as the word spreads.

Surely Sports mode and Normal mode has to do with revs and when the automatic changes up or down, more than it does acceleration response at relatively high speed! I would expect that in either mode if you just plant your foot and see how fast it accelerates, be that from standstill or road speeds, there would be little difference! Other than that wtf moment, not a bad review.

It depends from car to car. Some vehicles limit the amount of power with driving modes, others just change throttle input. In most cases, full pin down means full power in all modes because thats a safety thing (acceleration on to motorway when being in eco mode etc)

It's not a hybrid. It's a petrol car. And expensive premium petrol which is 20 cents to 30 cents more expensive than regular 91 petrol. So not much savings. Plus the battery is too small. As soon as the battery is drained, the 157kw is gone, and you're left with about 100kw from the petrol engine.
The 2500 petrol is a better option.

I’m finding myself a bit astonished as to why so much emphasis was put into the hybrid technology of this car, as if it’s revolutionary, and so much better than what Toyota/Kia offer? Not as heavy? Actually this has a bigger battery at 2kWhr compared to both those other manufacturers, so it is carrying more weight than the competition. Is he comparing it to a plug-in hybrid? If that’s the case, of course this does not have so much extra weight, those other cars offer 18-19kWhr batteries, and offer 60-70km of pure EV range, so it’s like comparing apples to oranges.
