Great to see Zack showing up in more videos. Been following smoking tire since 2010 or so, every once in a while Zack drops a ridiculously hilarious line in the podcast or a video. Wanna see more!

Doug this needs to be on Spotify. I usually listen to this on my way back home from work while walking and don’t own TH-cam Premium. So I can’t just put my phone in my pocket and listen to it while walking.
I listen to TH-cam pods while running all the time. I just minimize the screen to the top corner and it does fine.

for the discussion happening around the 23 min mark, I'm just one data point, but I was alive and saw the Superbird when I was admittedly pretty young (less than 5). I thought it was cool, if not very different than any other car at the time.
I want to know what a 30 year old man thought in 1970 when they saw it. They might have been like, well us describing a new M3 😂

I love Volvo XC90…having two 2005’s and then a 2016 and 2018 the still haven’t figured out how to design a reliable rear wiper and a sunroof that doesn’t leak in some manner. Doug… we have been trained to smile for pics. The first cameras no such training existed

Doug can _afford_ to be aggressive. When you never need to work again, your relationship to money changes no matter how much you think it does not
I think everyone can be aggressive on their own scale. You should kind of have a budget before buying/bidding on a car. Come in STRONG.
I thought the Superbird was cool when it came out in 1970. I was 9 years old in 1970.

My 2007 Sante Fe Limited has an aftermarket sunroof installed. The previous owner demanded a sunroof and the dealer had it installed when the vehicle was new. It works great still and the headliner was well done.
Doug, the Cybertruck is going to be game changer. Also great show 👍.
5.0L Coyote V8 is an amazing engine. Has punched way above it's weight class for years. BOSS 302 - 2023 is a fuel system and a supercharger away from 1,000hp. Coyotes however don't sound great. Excessively loud and blatty - have to be careful with exhaust choices.

Its not a Land cruiser...thats my problem with the new one in the US....this is basically the new LC Prado in my mind though i havent looked if its actually the same one...either way, no whete else in the world is the N.A. market LC actually called "The Land Cruiser"

It's so weird to see Doug go from a guy who's embarrassed to drive flashy cars and hate on fake badges, to a dude who has a Countach and wants to make a fake Supra Turbo.
He might be on to something with the Supra. Auto and maybe turbos would be better.
Doug wanting an NA Supra hasn’t priced wiper arms or any of the other parts you can’t buy anymore 😂. I think he will find Countach parts to be cheap compare to where random Supra parts are now. Too the moon 🌚

yeah ….Matt’s boy Donnie seems to love spending money that’s not his. I doubt ALL that expensive hardware has to be replaced. Especially for a car that’s a driver. If you had to buy every nut and bolt on a Paseo one by one it would get pretty expensive quickly.

@@carsandbids about $300 each, the plastic center console that cracks easily around $1500 (if your lucky). There is a whole underground of people hoarding this stuff for their own cars and you have to pay up to get it. The amount of discontinued parts to have a nice car is almost insurmountable.
I lived in Miami 70s 80s & 90s. When the Slant Nose came out folks went nuts. Thanks to Miami Vice. I would have been 13 yrs in 1984 and I had every issue of road and track.

I have watched an auction on a Watch group. Everyone was upping it $100 at a time. But everyone knew it was still 50k under value. Some guy came in and bid and got it up close to the real value. Got all those "tire kickers" to quit with their game. But if you are $1,000 from the value, I get $100 bids.

the new one you are getting is not a direct replacement for the old 200 series one you had, that one was replaced by the 300 that is not sold in the us. what you are getting is the 250, witch is a replacement for the land cruiser 150, or a prado as it is called in some markets, and was actually sold in the us as a GX470 if i remember correctly.
the 150/prado and the 120/90 that came before it where the replacement for the 4runner outside the states, and therefor yes.. the land cruiser you are getting now has much more in common with the 4runner than the old 200 cruiser.

So many of those aristos got gutted ~10-15 years ago when they where worth 3k and the 2j where also worth 3k.

What part of the US could a kid in high school get enough money for cars like these, even if they had jobs and could save diligently?
I admit I was a bit hyperbolic but it’s doable! Depends on the state of course but in CO (for example) the minimum wage is $13. To make $19000 you have to work 1,461 hours (before taxes). Divide by 8 hour work day and that’s 182 working days. Work on one weekend day a year for three years and it’s possible. Work both weekend days and you’re done in two years
$13/hr. Figure 15 hours per week. Do that for 3 years and you should have roughly $20k after tax
Time not running out when time is supposed to run out is obnoxious. Fleece undisciplined buyers.

Hmm, interesting. "If a Toyota breaks down it's not OK, but a BMW is OK ('cause it's so special). I drove a BMW 2002 and was so impressed. It's not OK that BMW's are not, any longer, like that. I will NEVER buy a BMW, ever! Their reputation is besmirched and unrecoverable. I was just the slightest surprised by Kennans comment, but I don't agree with him. BMW messed up and yet they still sell cars. OK, I admit, I don't get it.
