My best friend had a pet skunk back in the 70's. She taught him to walk on a leash and we would take him everywhere. His name was Thumper because of the activity that they do towards a possible threat before they spray you!! He always stunk and we bathed him with "GEE YOUR HAIR SMELLS TERRIFIC" Shampoo. Lol

I have 2 pets skunks and they are loose in my house they have each they beds , there just like dogs and they could still spray but they don't . there so use to us and the environment , there amazing pets and unique 😎
I saw a skunk in my neighbor's yard peacefully hunting for insects in the grass early yesterday morning, and now I am binge watching skunk videos on TH-cam. I hope it comes back to the same place in a few hours, because I want to film its adventures.
Same here. I saw one earlier this evening on the front lawn and I just watched it slowly and calmly forage around searching for food. Now it’s long gone and I’m reading and watching tons of videos lol
I was sitting in my backyard at 2:00am after some beers years ago and I heard something under the lawn chair, it was a skunk, I didn't move a muscle and my heart was pounding. I was thinking; "I don't need this now, stay calm, it will go away".
Normally when a skunk taps its feet and has its tail up, those are normally warning signs that it's about to spray you. Now since this is a domestic skunk I could see why the body language would be for different things, but seriously never ever go closer to a wild skunk when it's tapping its feet.
Hes adorable I have 6 skunks in my backyard I feed them when they come around mostly in the summertime they are so adorable their a little skittish too
Bernice, not to be a wet blanket, but please don't feed wild animals. I understand how it makes you feel, but that's very bad for the skunks and the environment they inhabit.
@@americangirl6654 - When you feed wild animals you swell their population and ruin the balance in the ecosystem. It also weakens the gene pool of the animals you're feeding. Thumps doesn't know how loved he is. Maybe he does he just has to act tough.😊 Too cute 🥰
Tucker seems to have such a good temper! He's doing so well at his vet visit and saying hi to the cameraman! His fur looks soft and fluffy too. Clearly he's well taken care of ^^
The real issue is that skunks in nature travel a 2 mile area foraging for their food. Eliminating that makes them fat. Plus I am sure they get more food in captivity than in the wild.
For a possum that's really old. As I understand it, they normally only live to around three. They are so adorable; there's one who visits my patio some nights (my Ring camera picks him up). I've watched him start off as a small possum grow into a larger one. I'm so happy to have them around.
@EldritchBloop You're probably confusing possums with opossums. Possums can live up to a good 15 years while opossums are lucky to reach 8 years. If you are from North America, the animal in question is not a possum but an opossum.
I walk my dog very early in the AM and pretend we are hunting to make her happy. She saw a black outline in a field by my house (I thought it was a tire.) So I got low, we were hunting, run up on it. Ye, it was skunk. Skunks are not afraid and move slow. I now smell like Pepe.
Not kidding I was outside kinda late and skunk walked right past me. It frightened me but weirdly enough it just kinda peacefully walked passed me. Guessing he/she has been living around humans for a while and knows they aren’t a threat.
Skunks really don't see all that well. Have been in your situation: The skunk walked right by me en route to the food I put out for the neighborhood stray cat. Glad to have them; they keep the yard free of grubs.
Skunks hibernate in the winter! They get real fat in the fall eating everything in sight. They are supposed to sleep all winter. In a cool place. In the spring they come out skinny as a rail.
