    I'm needing to replace the clockspring on my 1994 Ford F-150 Lightning. This is a great, detailed video. Thank you!

    Great video. Top shroud around steering wheel doesn't have to come off btw. All of the wires are on the bottom but still very informational.

    Great video, thanks a lot! I was able to replace my clockspring successfully based on your guide, one lesson I learned is I should have turned the key cylinder to the ON position BEFORE I took off the steering wheel, because my key was at the off position and was stuck there after the steering wheel was off. I had to put the steering wheel back and wiggle it to get the key cylinder unstuck. Also the brown "key in warning switch " image at 18:11 helped me to install the new one since I did not take a picture of the old one.

    i also have a 94 f150… my airbag light is flashing but the horn still works… will this fix my flash light situation? it all of a sudden has a 5 chime going off aswell.

    • @wavydre8547
      @wavydre8547 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From what I’ve heard, the flashing airbag light is a code. Take note of how many times it flashes (example: flashes 3 times then 2 times) and Google the code to find out the problem.

    My horn started honking out of the blue and wont stop. Had to remove the battery. The truck was in storage and not being driven. Would the clock spring have anything to do with it?

    • @LowTechGarage
      @LowTechGarage  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It definitely sounds like a potential clock spring issue.
      Not sure if you have an airbag, but my airbag light was on too when it failed.

    Are there two different clock Springs one for a truck that has cruise control and one for a truck that does not have cruise control?

    • @LowTechGarage
      @LowTechGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there. They only difference is one with air bag or no air bag.
      Rock auto should give you an idea of what is available for your truck.

    • @rustybarrr
      @rustybarrr ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LowTechGarage thank you for your response. The reason that I ask is because I changed mine and the horn works now, but the cruise still doesn’t work. So I thought maybe either there’s something else wrong with the cruise or they make two different clock springs one for a truck with cruise and one for a truck without. But thanks anyway.

    My recently acquired eddie Bauer 96 f150 does not have those bolt holes in the steering wheel. And my clock sprig was 140$ + tax and shipping was 165$.

    Does the clock spring affect steering at all

    • @LowTechGarage
      @LowTechGarage  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not steering, the steering column bearing can though. They sell kits to replace that. It makes the steering notchy and stiff when it fails

  • @GaryYoung-eq1ph
    @GaryYoung-eq1ph ปีที่แล้ว

    Same with econoline 01' ? so this is usually the problem with horn not working?

    My clock spring don't have the screws holding it in, just little plastics prongs, the new one don't have the plastic prongs, how do I replace it?

    • @LowTechGarage
      @LowTechGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would check the part number on the old unit, have a look online and make sure you do not require a different model.
      If that’s not the case I would see if you have any recess’ for screws. It sounds like you may needs a different version for some reason.

    Any update on the XJR? When is the job on the head going to happen?

    • @LowTechGarage

      We are getting the belair buttoned up and then will be getting properly stuck in on the XJR. All the parts have arrived so we are ready to go.
      We think the car has the incorrect head bolts installed from work done prior to our ownership

      You may have a bad headlight switch. They are pretty simple to replace. It involves replacing the turn signal stalk assembly.

  • @jrhansen1997
    @jrhansen1997 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Pretty goodguide, but it's obvious that you've never been in the dash before. You do NOT have to loosen or remove the upper dash to remove the lower piece. Remove the two Torx bolts and pull it off. You can also remove the rear screw on the lower steering cover once the lower dash is removed. There is no reason to remove the key tumbler.
