    This is awesome!!!! Just some thoughts, you could sleeve the bundles of cables coming out from the sides, such as, power wires in one bundle, video wires in another, etc, that way you have a very clean and professional look to the finished product. Also, assuming you sell the black backdrop, your logo/website kind of detracts from the image since it is inbetween each line of LEDs, have you considered only putting it on the top and bottom of the backdrop? I imagine you would get a "crisper" or at least less "noisy" image. Just some thoughts, love the finished product and the start to finish video!

      @kelseykosheluk7507 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are probably looking at 3.75 microseconds per LED in series for the input signal plus a short refresh time between. That means if you still want a 60 fps refresh rate, you can have about 4400 LEDs in series. That means the maximum 16x9 resolution you can get is 45x80, which looks close to what this guy has. Sometimes the LEDs have to refresh faster and you can't put this many in series though.

    • @petermwheeler
      @petermwheeler 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kelseykosheluk7507 If you follow the spec it's 1.15 microseconds for a zero and 1.3 microseconds for a one. So you need on average 29.4 microseconds per pixel plus a 50 microsecond RET code (held low). So you can just manage 33 FPS on 1024 leds (spec formally says 30 FPS on 1024).

    But ... its a flexible 9dpi screen, first of its kind.
    Must be another way to power the LED's, avoiding too much power wasted in drop resistors.

      @Edward3C 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Each "pixel" is 3 LEDs, RGB, each with a max power consumption of 5v at 20 mA, each RGB LED unit pulls about 60 mA....
      I am doing a much smaller one and to power the controller as well as the LEDs I am using a 5v20a100w powersupply...looks like they are employing several of the same or similar.

    I am wondering if it would have made more sense to put the LED strips on the black area between the white lines, which would have given it a surface to reflect off of instead of white text on a black background. How many Amps is this display pulling?

    • @dimagass7801
      @dimagass7801 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brian L I was also wondering which would be a better background...it might not make too much of a difference though because the leds mostly are pointing directly outwards unlike a circular lightbulb that goes in 360 degrees this led go 180 degrees or maybe even less. I am not completely sure though. Also there is a possibility to get the actual strips in black or white so if it really did make a difference the could put it on the black part so there would be the white screen surface and the white led strip surface also.

    1: Do you sell the adhesive template for the LED strip alignment? I don't see any links on your website.
    2: The T300k controller specifies up to 8000 LEDs but you are controlling more than 10000. How do you control greater numbers of LEDs? Can multiple T300k controllers be combined to control screens containing 14000 or more LEDs?

      actually if you see it has 3 connectors, it has 5V GRD and Information, this is not the normal 4 connector one, these tings are a lot more expensive, these what I call the Smart LEDS but they are called somewhat Individual LEDs or what, I know that it costs like 33 dollar for every 3 meter? its cool but expensive, deffinetly could use it for experiments and have fun, more likely with an arduino, sound sensor, and with this LED

      +Dean Johnson That would mess up the distance between pixels, as the LED's are a constant distance apart on the strips the strips have to be positioned that way so the LED's are are vertically separated by the same distance. The only way to up the pixel density is to find strips that have more LED's per meter, and then put the strips closer together.
      Nice project, power hungry I'm guessing, by the amount of power supply's needed to power it.

    • @ejunky66
      @ejunky66  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bjorn Embrechts exactly, you can add the double but the angle will be different means for this modell WS2812b and WS2811 only 16.6mm, there are also some modells with 120LED´s meter but the Power consumption and the slaves are just out of any range

      A strip of 300 (16.4 ft BTW) of these runs about $30. To build a screen that is 640x480, it would be about 34ft x 28 ft and cost about $31,000 (retail) just for the LEDs, not counting solder, cables, power supplies, controllers etc...
      In addition at 5v 60mA per LED at max brightness, you are looking at 92,160 Watts...lol

    • @Edward3C
      @Edward3C 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      At 60/m and with this build stated to be 2m x 1.5m, their screen is likely 120 x 90 giving 1080 pixels. That just under 4 strips of 300 @ $30ea. So approx $120 for the lights. 1080 pixels at 3W max consumption is 3240W?!!
