One of the best gigs I was ever at ,Dublin '93, managed to crawl under speakers and climb up the back of them to get on stage with them, big hug from Phil and then he tells me to jump quickly before security grabbed me lol, one I'll never forget. When gigs were gigs and NOT a filming studio for most fans.

Vinny and Dime were already great by 1989, but when Phil joined the band, and Cowboys from Hell came out, it was staggering. As Phil as said " metal with a groove", no other band had the bounce, this was sooooooo original. God bless Phil, Rex.🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

Went to my first Pantera show in 1985 in Muenster, Tx when Terry Glaze was still with the band. Things definitely changed when Phil joined. Phil would demand a pit and fans to go nuts. Seen them over 20 times and loved every one. Walk was done at a local club in Dallas called the Basement.

In the 90's yes it was not uncommon at concerts particularly metal concerts for people to jump from the stage/platforms. Ironically/unfortunately that changed after the murder of Dimebag Darrell in 2004.
You know I never thought of it that way but for the most part you're right. My last concert I ever been to was in 06..Korn/Deftones/Stonesour and it was still lit, people went nuts but for the majority after Dime was murdered by a fan security stepped up at bigger shows. Gotta remember to tho he was in Damage Plan at the time and it was a very small venue. Even easier to get at artists that way at the time and smaller venues are still pretty loosely guarded. But a bigger venue you're not getting within 50-100 feet of the band

I saw Pantera on tour with Skid Row... of course they crushed it. I met Vinnie that night he was a sweetie. Visited the their graves..years later...still doesn't feel real at time. RIP Dime and Vinnie.

Basically anything from PantarA is awesome. Even their Dallas Stars theme song "Puck Off". They wrote it while the Stars were on their Stanley Cup winning run back in '99. They play it every time the Stars score at home even today

Saw Pantera at Ozzfest and another time White Zombie opened for them. I was def for 2 days. Best ever!!!!!

Vulgar display of power was literally the first live i saw as i was born 81' which means my sister brought me along for the live Pantera tour in SwEDEN of all places on her littlebrother sittings lol. :)......but man i love her for that today i can hardly remember the dude that put me on his shoulders today i believe he was called either Johnny, Johan or maybe Kim :) most of them joined hells angels later. But man im still a hardrockin amigo today :Ö)

At a show in maybe 94 in Baltimore, some clown tried to fight Phil…threw shit on stage several times etc…was a black dude who was a moron and thought Phil was a racist…Mouth For War was playing and he tried to jump up on stage and Phil front kicked him in his chest and ruined his night….shit was too funny

Pantera concerts were insane. They did things that would be banned now a days. Just not the same anymore without Dime and Vinnie
The reason there's no more stage diving and stuff is because of what happened to Dime
Sadly you can't have fun at shows like you used to. The 90s in particular was the wild west. I saw, I want to say it was Fear Factory, at one of the Ozzfest shows in the 90s. It's outside with two stages. The second stage was way off practically in the woods with trees everywhere. People were jumping off the trees! Now I go to metal shows where there are say 3 levels (floor, middle and back) that go up kind of like a movie theaterish. I'll be at the front of section 2 with the railing in front of me and if I lean over a little to look down I'll have security up my ass telling me to stop and lean back. Give me the tree people any day over that.
And I know it's bad and I don't do this stuff anymore but I remember when you could smoke in a club. It's good they got rid of that but seeing a band destroying it on stage while you smoke a cigarette and take a swig of Whiskey from the bottle you snuck in and watch people do insane stuff like fly into the crowd is a level of pure freedom you will never see or experience again as long as you live. Glad I don't do stuff like that anymore but equally glad I got to have that experience and KNOW what it was like.

Too many venues have been sued and found liable for injuries and deaths so that's why you can't do crazy stuff any more. Hell you can't even keep your bottle cap anymore because of people throwing full bottles and hitting people. It's stupid.
